Sharp Zaurus SL-5600使用Linux的PDA

Silicon carbide resonant tuning fork for microsensing applications in high-temperature and high G-shock environments

We present the fabrication and testing of a silicon carbide （SiC） balanced mass doublended tuning fork that survives harsh environments without compromising the device strain sensitivity and resolution bandwidth. The device features a material stack that survives corrosive environments and enables high-temperature operation. To perform hightemperature testing, a specialized setup was constructed that allows the tuning fork to be characterized using traditional silicon electronics. The tuning fork has been operated at 600°C in the presence of dry steam for short durations. This tuning fork has also been tested to 64 000 G using a hard-launch, soft-catch shock implemented with a light gas gun. However, the device still has a strain sensitivity of 66 Hz/μe and strain resolution of 0. 045 μe in a 10 kHz bandwidth. As such, this balanced-mass double-ended tuning fork can be used to create a variety of different sensors including strain gauges, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and pressure transducers. Given the adaptable fabrication process flow, this device could be useful to micro-electro-mechanical systems （MEMS） designers creating sensors for a variety of different applications.

Strategic Prospective Methodology to Explore Sustainable Futures

This paper shows prospective methodology as a tool to generate strategic knowledge for designing sustainable futures. The strategic prospective is a social science discipline dedicated to explore the future. Based on qualitative methods with participative experts and stakeholders, the strategic prospective allows designing different future scenarios and planning the transformation of a current situation into a desired future. To design sustainable futures, this paper proposes a four-stage methodology： understanding the context; strategy visualization; design of alternative scenarios and definition of desired future; and planning its construction. This methodology makes evident the possibility of seeking alternative scenarios for a sustainable future in different scopes, particularly, in two prospective applications： biodiversity conservation and water treatment. The outcomes of the application have allowed proposing strategies and policies for the management of environmental goods, such as environmental services and water reuse, with a long-time outlook based on a collective desired future.

Underwater Recording and 3D Modeling during a Dive Training Course： A Case Study at Panormos, Skopelos, Greece

In the field of underwater survey, there is a variety of methods which differ from each other in terms of the operating environment and the purpose that each method is used. Hence, some of the state-of-the-art methods, that have many applications in the various scientific fields nowadays, are introduced in this paper. Additionally, the application of the procedures for an underwater survey in shallow depths is analyzed in accordance with the training standards of the PADI Underwater Survey Diver distinctive specialty. The main goal is to demonstrate not only the theoretical background of underwater surveys but also their operational issues, in order to facilitate the development of knowledge and skills during a training course. Finally, a case study for the recording and 3D modeling of the seabeds＇ morphology in shallow water is presented as it has been organized and accomplished by the participants of such a training course. By this way, it is expected that the reader will understand explicitly the application of the procedures prior, during and after the dive for an underwater survey in shallow depths.

Application of the Keyword Recognition in the Network Monitoring

In this paper, the specific application of key words Spotting used in the network monitoring is studied, and the keywords spotting is emphasized. The whole monitoring system is divided into two mod-ules： network monitoring and keywords spotting. In the part of network monitoring, this paper adopts a method which is based on ARP spoofing technology to monitor the users＇ data, and to obtain the original audio streams. In the part of keywords spotting, the extraction methods of PLP （one of the main characteristic arameters） is studied, and improved feature parameters- PMCC are put forward. Meanwhile, in order to accurately detect syllable, the paper the double-threshold method with variance of frequency band method, and use the latter to carry out endpoint detection. Finally, keywords recognition module is built by HMM, and identification results are contrasted under Matlab environment. From the experiment results, a better solution for the application of key words recognition technology in network monitoring is found.

Design and Implementation of a BPEL Profiling System by Aspect-oriented Programming

Business Process Exeention Language （BPEL） is being used in various applications as the standard of workflow. As the requirerments increase to describe application processes in BPEL, BPEL documentt is getting more Complplicated. Therefore it is difficult to describe applications in BPEL with high reliability. In order to write highly reliable BPEL document, it is necessary to check if the document is working correctly in accordance with user＇s intention. But it is difficult to carry out the test since BPEL engine doesn＇t provide a profiling function. In this paper, we suggest a BPEL system with a real-time profiling function. The suggested system consists of an integrated development environment and a BPEL nunning environment. BPEL integrated development environment has a BPEL to Java（B2J） engine, which generates and executes a Java workflow program from a BPEL document, and a converter, which converts Java Weaving XML （JWX） documents to Aspect-oriented programs. The new functions are described in JWX, which is Extensive Markup Lan-guage （XML）-based document. Since aspect-oriented programming technique provides the way to modularize main and supplemental requirements, it guarantees the low degree of coupling between BPEL workflow program and new functions by weaving them. Our approach can be extended to add other functions to provide context-aware services.

Social Media and the Public Policy Process in Egypt

For the past three years the political environment in Egypt, and the middle east in general, has undergone substantial change such as increase in public opinion and awareness, increase in political participation, increase in voting turnout franchise as well as introducing a new paradigm of communication which has great influence on the political and social landscape of the world ＂Social Media＂. The aim of this study is to explore the impact and effect of social media （Facebook） on the changing political environment of the public policy process in Egypt. This article analyzes the different stages of the Public Policy Process in Egypt, with application to the Minimum and Maximum Wage Policy, and examines how it was influenced by the Facebook, as a device of the social media, as a new channel of political mobilization.

Implementing Virtual Reality Environment for Bicycling in an Eco-Campus Application

This paper reviews virtual reality interface, application and design concept in relation with our experience in implementing a virtual bicycling environment application of the University of Indonesia Green Eco-campus. The implementation of the Virtual Reality VR used 3D-Games Studio with Lite-C software. The authors also experiment with the use of a VR device, i.e. 3D E-Dimensional wireless goggle to improve the feel of presence for the user of our application. The authors created the original elements of UI campus environment, such as, buildings, trees, campus buses, cars, and bike tracks, as well as obstacle in the pathways into 3D virtual shape that resembles the real UI campus environment. The bicycle movement, camera perceptions, and object collision handling have also been implemented. Our application is subsequently tested by the users in terms of the general object condition, user＇s respond to the virtual reality environment and the future development. Some result of implementing the same environment using Alice has also been shown.

Middleware Challenges in Robotic Fleets for Precision Agriculture

The past decade has witnessed a huge increase in the number of proposed middleware solutions for robotic fleets operating in unstructured environments. As a result, it has become difficult to decide which middleware is the most appropriate for a specific application or application domain. In this paper we first extract a set of common and specific challenges that middlewares address, and group them according to the source domain they have originated within. These challenges are derived from a specific precision agriculture use-case based on the robotic fleet for weed control elaborated within the European project RHEA-robot fleets for highly effective agriculture and forestry management. Furthermore, the paper provides an analysis of a number of different middlewares and suggests a set of criteria for systemizing representative solutions. The aim of this analysis is to assist the process of finding an adequate middleware for a specific application domain.

Assessment Parameters of the Application of Solar Cell Technologies in the Built Environment

This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the different requirements for applications of solar cells in the built environment, particularly for the MENA （Middle East and North Africa） region. The authors emphasize the assessment of parameters additional to the cost and efficiency of the cells to make a more informed choice of the PV technology to use in specific buildings. They also emphasize the need for the wide use ofphotovoltaics in the built environment to produce electricity in the GCC （Gulf Cooperation Council） region and briefly mention the efforts being made in this regard.
