A dynamic mathematical model of slip control based system is obtained. With the help of model reducing technique, full order model is reduced to simplify the design without degrading much of the performance. Model following adaptive control laws in discrete form are derived. These laws satisfy the hyperstability condition for taking care of the load and machine parameter changes of the drive. A microprocessor 8098 is used to develop the speed controller. The implementation of the control system uses only available variables of the reference model and the controlled plant. This drive is developed by using a digital signal processor at low cost and carried out with the module design concept of both software and hardware. Nevertheless, a scheme of the sensorless direct torque control is based on the developed hardware, of which the feasibility is tested by a trial program. Additionally, both the interface function of the drive hardware and the feasibility of its software are proved to be good by the trail programs. A test motor can run about 18?r/min by a variable frequency program with the space vector pulse width modulation technology, of which the torque is visible pulsatile. In this presentation, based on the theoretical approach, the sensorless torque control is to be studied and applied to electric vehicles, of which the quick, smooth and stable torque response is emphasized because it quite benefits improving the drive performance of electric vehicles.展开更多

The interaction between M and M±1 pole-pair magnetic fields produces radial force. Based on this principle,a bearingless machine is obtained. Conventional bearingless machine has dual windings,levitation windings and torque windings,which produce the two magnetic fields. In the proposed bearingless motor,the two needed magnetic fields are produced by feeding two groups of currents to a single set of multiphase windings. Taking a 5-phase induction motor as example,the inductance matrices,considering air gap eccentricity,are calculated with the modified winding function method. The radial force analytical model is deduced by virtual displacement,and its results are validated by FEA. The mathematical model of the new bearingless machine is set up,and the simulation results verified the feasibility of this novel bearingless motor.展开更多

The magnitude of power component directly resulted from rotor fault is used as the fault indicator and the distance between the point of no-load condition and the center of the ellipse as its normalization value. Based on these,the fault severity factor which is completely independent of the inertia and load level is defined. Moreover,a method to reliably discriminate between rotor faults and periodic load fluctuation is presented. The GA and PSO algorithms are developed and implemented into MATLAB. As a result, fuzzy-PSO is the most appropriate scheme. This paper describes the design of a direct torque control (DTC) system for speeding up torque response and reducing the starting current of electric screw presses and its application to the J58K series of numerical control electric screw presses with a dual-motor drive. The DTC drive system encompasses speed control, torque reference control, and switching frequency control. Comparison of the DTC dual-AC induction motor drive with corresponding AC servo motor drive showed that for the J58K-315 electric screw press, the DTC drive system attains a higher maximum speed (786 r/min) within a shorter time (1.13 s) during a 250 nun stroke and undergoes smaller rise in temperature (42.0 ℃) in the motor after running for 2 h at a 12 min-1 strike frequency than the AC servo motor drive does (751 r/min within 1.19 s, and 50.6 ℃ rise). Moreover, the DTC AC induction motor drive, with no need for a tachometer or position encoder to feed back the speed or position of the motor shaft, enjoys increased reliability in a strong-shock work environment.展开更多

Before startup,the inverter drive performed automatically a modified DC test, a locked-rotor test, a no-load test and a step-voltage test to identify all the parameters of an induction motor. No manual operation and speed signals were required in the process. In order to obtain effective messages and improve the accuracy of identification, the discrete fast Fourier transform (DFFT) and the least-squares were used to process the signals of currents and voltages. A phase-voltage measuring method for motors was also proposed, which measured directly the actual conducting time of three upper switches in the inverter without need for a dead-time compensator. The validity, reliability and accuracy of the presented methods have been verified by the experiments on a VSI-fed IM drive system.展开更多

The most reliable phase current among the three phase currents was selected using an approach that employs the fuzzy entropy measure. Data were trained with a neural network system, and the fault detection algorithm was verified using the unknown data. Results of the proposed approach based on Fourier and wavelet transformations indicate that the faults can be properly classified into six categories. The training error is 5.3×10-7, and the average test error is 0.103.展开更多

The estimation of conducted disturbances and other adverse effects of PWM inverter by simulation offer a considerable gain from the economic point of view. For an accurate model of the motor drive system including mains, rectifier, inverter, motor and its long cables, the high frequency parasitic current paths are taken into account. The novel model and its parasitic values for three-phase induction motor system are presented. Finally a new solution for suppressing EMI, common mode voltage, leakage current, bearing current and shaft voltages is proposed and the results show the excellent performances of proposed solution including active and passive filters.展开更多

The speed control is developed using TS (Takagi-Sugeno) fuzzy logic model and electromagnetic torque estimation using neural network type LMS (least mean square) algorithm. The induction motor is powered by a frequency inverter driven by a DSP (digital signal processor). Control strategies are implemented in DSP. In this paper, the characters of the motor in operation are analyzed, all kinds of factors that relate to life are laid out, its heating and loss are discussed and analyzed. The key reasons affecting the motor life are presented, and different characters of a high induction motor are compared with these of a general induction motor. A design idea is described, that is : we should consider how to improve the efficiency and reliability as well as bow to reduce the heating by changing the electromagnet, structure, dissipation and operation of the motor. Newton-Euler method is used to get motion equations. In the second part, numerical results are presented. Simulations are used for calculating the driving moment as function of crankshaft motion. These results illustrate the effect of the flywheel and motor on its dynamics and are used for induction motor selection and flywheel sizing for optimizing crankshaft torque fluctuation and power consumption reduction.展开更多

The proposed study has concerned TEFC ( totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled ), 400 V, 50 Hz, SI duty three phase squirrel-cage induction motors only. The motors' designs, with AI and Cu cage, have been optimized in order to reach the minimum efficiency level IE3 at lowest active material costs and satisfy the physical and performance constraints of the designs, which are the motor specifications. A suitable optimization procedure has been used which allowed to find the "best design" by chancing the geometric dimensions of the stator, rotor shape, the stator winding and the stack length. And it is possible to operate the LIM propulsion system efficiently without a change of the LIM capacity through the airgap length control on the sloped rail. So, in this research, the authors introduce an airgap control system to control the airgap length which depends on the flatness of the secondary reaction plate when the LIM is operated, and design a rotary small-scaled LIM and its airgap control system before manufacturing the real system. Then, the authors analyze some characteristics of the LIM (thrust and normal force, input current, efficiency and power factor), and through the LIM control modeling, the authors finally analyze an effect of the airgap-length control of the LIM by the airgap control system.展开更多
