Based on the linearized model of the congestion-avoidance flow-control mode of transmission control protocol (TCP), we present delay control algorithms for active queue management (AQM) and discuss the parameter tuning of the algorithms. The NS (network simulator) simulation results show that the proposed control scheme for the nonlinear TCP/AQM model has good performance and robustness with respect to the uncertainties of the round-trip time (RTT) and the number of active TCP sessions. Compared to other similar schemes, our algorithms perform better in terms of packet loss ratio, throughput and butter fluctuation.展开更多

The uncertainty is assumed to be norm-bounded. By establishing a finite sum inequality based on quadratic terms, a new delay-dependent robust stability condition is derived and expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). A suitable robust state feedback control law is presented, which guarantees that the resultant closed-loop system is regular, causal and stable for all admissible uncertainties. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method.展开更多

Considering the great influence of a controller on the performance of control system, an improved controller with a second order fuzzy controller and network-induced delay compensator being added to the basic fuzzy controller is proposed to realize self-regulation on-line. For this type of controller, neither plant model nor measurement of network delay is required. So it is capable of automatically adjusting quantified factor, pro- portional factor, and integral factor according to the control system error and its derivative. The design makes full use of the advantages of quickness in operation and reduction of steady state error because of its integral function. The con- troller has a good control effect on time-delay and can keep a better performance by self-regulation on-line in the net- work with data dropout and interference. It is good in quickness, adaptability, and robustness, which is favorable for controlling the long time-delay system.展开更多

A sufficient condition which makes the closed-loop system decentralized asymptotically stable with H_∞ performance was derived based on Lyapunov stability theorem. This condition is expressed as the solvability problem of linear matrix inequalities. The method overcomes the limitations of the existing algebraic Riccati equation method. In this paper, the stabilization problems of the classical proportionalintegral-derivative (PID) controller and the singleparameter PID controller (containing only one adjustable parameter) for integral processes with time delay are investigated, respectively. The complete set of stabilizing parameters of the classical PID controller is determined using a version of the Hermite-Biehler Theorem applicable to quasipolynomials. Since the stabilization problem of the singie-parameter PID controller cannot be treated by the Hermite-Biehler Theorem, a simple method called duallocus diagram is employed to derive the stabilizing range of the single-parameter PID controller. These results provide insight into the tuning of the PID controllers.展开更多

The attention is focused on the design of output feedback controllers which guarantee the asymptotical stability of the closed-loop systems. Based on the model transformation of neutral type, the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method is employed to establish the delay-dependent stability criterion. Then, through the controller parameterization and some matrix transformation techniques, the desired parameters are determined under the delay-dependent design condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), and the desired controller is explicitly formulated. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多

Additionally, the effects of the variations of main constituents (H2:CO = 0.125-8) on ignition delays were investigated. The experimental results indicated that the ignition delay decreases as the pressure increases above certain temperature (around 1,200 K) and vice versa. The ignition delays were also found to rise as CO concentration increases, which is in good agreement with the literature. In addition, the ignition delays of bio-syngas were found increasing as the equivalence ratio rises. This behavior was primarily discussed in present work. Experimental results were also compared with numerical predictions of multiple chemical kinetic mechanisms and Li's mechanism was found having the best accuracy. The logarithmic ignition delays were found nonlinearly decrease with the H2 concentration under various conditions, and the effects of temperature, equivalence ratio and H2 concentration on the ignition delays are all remarkable. However, the effect of pressure is rela- tively smaller under current conditions. Sensitivity analysis and reaction pathway analysis of methane showed that R1 (H +O2= O -9 OH) is the most sensitive reaction promot- ing ignition and R13 (H +O2 (+M) = HO2 (+M)), R53(CH3+H (+M)= CH4 (+M)), R54 (CH4+H= CH3 + H2) as well as R56 (CH4 + OH = CH3 + H2O) are key reactions prohibiting ignition under current experimental conditions. Among them, R53 (CH3 + H (+M) = CH4 (+M)), R54 (CH4 + H = CH3 + H2) have the largest posi- tive sensitivities and the high contribution rate in rich mixture. The rate of production (ROP) of OH of R1 showed that OH ROP of R1 decreases sharply as the mixture turns rich. Therefore, the ignition delays become longer as the equiva- lence ratio increases.展开更多
