This paper applies the method of numerical simulation and field detection, and studied energy-saving insulation characteristics on the external wails of high-rise buildings in cold area, analyze and recommend the best arrangement of building and the most generous exterior wall insulation system suitable for cold area, and the degree of insulation materials were studied. The results show that: the mode preferred cold area is exterior insulation, insulation material made of extruded polystyrene board, frame structure filling wall preferred ceramsite hollow block. 展开更多

The urban microclimate has direct implications with regards to thermal comfort indoors as well as outdoors. In the tropics, the outdoor thermal comfort conditions during daytime are often far above acceptable comfort standards due to intense solar radiation and high solar elevations. This study aims to know effects of simple and fundamental building forms on microclimate and outdoor thermal comfort in a high dense tropical city, focusing on Dhaka, Bangladesh as a study city. Investigations are carried out on existing area and model areas with modified building forms (in respect of height and shape) on the microclimate as well as on outdoor thermal comfort during daytime in summer. This study has demonstrated that the model using less ground coverage and higher buildings can offer a better thermal climate than the models using maximum ground coverage in a high-density tropical city. 展开更多

The glass facade of high-rise building in coastal areas is vulnerable under typhoon.The research works in the literature on facade's wind-resistance performance,however,have some limitations to apply to this issue.During typhoon landing,the whole facade will vibrate and deform due to the change of atmosphere,temperature and impacted torrential rain,to result in a quite different strain or stress distribution in the glass facade from those in model test and wind tunnel test.In this paper,the field measurement on glass facade of a coastal high-rise building in Xiamen was performed,the wind pressure on the glass facade was measured and a large number of windinduced stress data were obtained during typhoon landing.The relationship between wind pressure and stress or strain of the glass panel was analyzed and the situation of stress distribution was summarized. 展开更多
