This new approach facilitates content distribution ...Information-Centric Networking(ICN) has recently emerged as a result of the increased demand to access contents regardless of their location in the network services. This new approach facilitates content distribution as a service of the network with lower delay and higher security in comparison with the current IP network. Applying ICN in current IP infrastructure leads to major complexities. One approach to deploy ICN with less complexity is to integrate ICN with Software Defined Networking(SDN). The SDN controller manages the content distribution, caching, and routing based on the users' requests. In this paper, we extend these context by addressing the ICN topology management problem over the SDN network to achieve an improved user experience as well as network performance. In particular, a centralized controller is designed to construct and manage the ICN overlay. Experimental results indicate that this adopted topology management strategy achieves high performance, in terms of low failure in interest satisfaction and reduced download time compared to a plain ICN.展开更多

Trial and error has long been the method for learning how to avoid problems in the construction of ene...As the demand for high-performance housing grows, so does the need for improvements in building science education. Trial and error has long been the method for learning how to avoid problems in the construction of energy-efficient housing, including water intrusion and mold growth. Building codes have addressed these issues in prescriptive ways that were not evidence-based. Stricter building codes or builder licensing requirements are not necessarily the solutions to problems associated with misunderstandings about building science. Motivating professionals currently involved in the housing industry to learn through continuing education is a start, but the core problem must be addressed by including building science education in curricula related to architecture, engineering, construction management and other fields. The long-term solution is to include building science education in academic construction management programs. The purpose of this paper is to review the history of what has come to be known as building science and its importance to the residential construction industry. Problems that result from a lack of knowledge about the field are covered and a potential solution is proposed.展开更多
China has a long tradition of cadre education and training （CET） , which has developed to be a particular Chinese way of executive development highlighting rigorbus and systematic organization by the Chinese Communi...China has a long tradition of cadre education and training （CET） , which has developed to be a particular Chinese way of executive development highlighting rigorbus and systematic organization by the Chinese Communist Party （CCP） and a dual emphasis on political-ideological work and knowledge-capacity building. This paper offers an overview of the historical development of CET, and generalizes its managing system, training system, targeted cadres, training contents and institutionalization. The functions of CET are classified as formal including political （re-） engineering and capacity and knowledge building, and informal including collective identity and social connections. The Shanghai Municipal Committee Party School is further studied regarding its educational programs, especially the planned programs, contents of training, trainers, financing, and quality assurance. It is argued that in response to challenges in an era of globalization, CET has worked both to consolidate the political authority of the CCP and enhance governmental officials＇ awareness and knowledge of governing issues and their problem-solving capacities. As a result CET itself has been undergoing continuous adjustments.展开更多
