As for BP NN, the effects of numbers of layers and nodes have been studied; as for RBF NN, the influences of the number of nodes and the RBF′s width have been studied. It is concluded that BP NN has converged much slowly in comparison with RBF NN. The conclusion that the RBF NN is suitable for modeling activated sludge system has been drawn. An automatically optimum design program for RBF NN has been developed, through which the RBF NN model of traditional activated sludge system has been established.展开更多

An essential step for the realization of free-form surface structures is to create an efficient structural gird that satisfies not only the architectural aesthetics,but also the structural performance.Employing the ma...An essential step for the realization of free-form surface structures is to create an efficient structural gird that satisfies not only the architectural aesthetics,but also the structural performance.Employing the main stress trajectories as the representation of force flows on a free-form surface,an automatic grid generation approach is proposed for the architectural design.The algorithm automatically plots the main stress trajectories on a 3D free-form surface,and adopts a modified advancing front meshing technique to generate the structural grid.Based on the proposed algorithm,an automatic grid generator named "St-Surmesh" is developed for the practical architectural design of free-form surface structure.The surface geometry of one of the Sun Valleys in Expo Axis for the Expo Shanghai 2010 is selected as a numerical example for validating the proposed approach.Comparative studies are performed to demonstrate how different structural grids affect the design of a free-form surface structure.展开更多

Awareness of the adverse ecological effects of road and other large construction projects has resulted in a rapidly growing demand to quantitatively predict and evaluate the effects on gene flow among plants and anima...Awareness of the adverse ecological effects of road and other large construction projects has resulted in a rapidly growing demand to quantitatively predict and evaluate the effects on gene flow among plants and animals in natural habitats.In this study,we evaluated the effects of different road construction scenarios on animal species movement by using the methods of ecological landscape connectivity in the typical regions of Yunnan Province,China.The results showed landscape connectivity levels(Probability of Connectivity(PC))decreased after road construction and species with lower dispersal abilities were more affected to the subsequent habitat fragmentation.First level roads affected landscape connectivity most significantly.At a distance of 100 m,the PC index decreased more than 50%.Further analysis suggested that the use of landscape connectivity to assess landscape processes revealed the adverse effects on the species movement more effectively compared with the traditional landscape pattern analysis.In addition,we conducted a graph theory and a least-cost modeling discussion,it is obvious that they are powerful tools to represent and analyze landscape networks with respect to related species movement.Network analysis offers a quantitative and simple but effective tool for ecological process assessment and biological conservation on large scales.展开更多

Although the traditional interpolation and method for single image amplification is effect, but did not provide more useful information. A Cartesian grid generation method is developed in this study.Two kinds of solid modeling methods,CSG and STL models,are used for complicated solid modeling.The staircase boundary approximation is implemented to handl...A Cartesian grid generation method is developed in this study.Two kinds of solid modeling methods,CSG and STL models,are used for complicated solid modeling.The staircase boundary approximation is implemented to handle irregular geometries and the computational domain is discretized using a regular Cartesian grid.Using the edge-based integral slice algorithm,the models are sliced with a set of parallel planes to generate 2D slices information.The scan line filling technique is used to achieve grid generation after slicing.Two grid generation examples with a CSG model and a STL model are given to test the capability of the grid generation method.For grid displaying,a method is proposed to remove the hidden surfaces fasten based on the topology of orthogonal hexahedral grids.The parallelization of grid displaying is achieved by employing multi-threaded parallel technique.Parallel test results show that the parallel algorithm has the absolute advantage on speed compared to the serial algorithm.展开更多
