Water mist technology provides efficient firefighting performance while there is still room for improvement. So varieties of additives have been studied in recent years both at home and abroad. The self-made additives...Water mist technology provides efficient firefighting performance while there is still room for improvement. So varieties of additives have been studied in recent years both at home and abroad. The self-made additives are used to compare the firefighting performance of diesel and heptane fire in open space. By adjusting the concentration of substance in the additives and conducting the experiment under the pressure of 0.3 MPa,0.5 MPa and 0.7 MPa,extinguish time and temperature are measured in the experiment. Through the experiments using different fuels,it can be found when the fuel is heptane that has a lower ignition point and a higher evaporation rate, the water mist additive can still significantly improve the firefighting performance. According to the data based on different concentrations of fluorinated surfactants,we find that fluorinated surfactants are the main substance to improve the performances by changing physical property of water mist. Optimal proportion of the additives for firefighting performance is found by experiment results.展开更多
The mining industry annually consumes trillions of British thermal units of energy,a large part of which is saveable.Diesel fuel is a significant source of energy in surface mining operations and haul trucks are the m...The mining industry annually consumes trillions of British thermal units of energy,a large part of which is saveable.Diesel fuel is a significant source of energy in surface mining operations and haul trucks are the major users of this energy source.Cross vehicle weight,truck velocity and total resistance have been recognised as the key parameters affecting the fuel consumption.In this paper,an artificial neural network model was developed to predict the fuel consumption of haul trucks in surface mines based on the gross vehicle weight,truck velocity and total resistance.The network was trained and tested using real data collected from a surface mining operation.The results indicate that the artificial neural network modelling can accurately predict haul truck fuel consumption based on the values of the haulage parameters considered in this study.展开更多

Three experimental methods of measurement techniques of this phenomenon were used: the pressure profile using the Kiel total pressure probe, the velocity profile using the CTA (constant temperature anemometry) probe and the visualization of the flow field using the hot film and the thermo camera, The experimental results with and without the influence of the synthetic jet were compared, as well the impact of the phase shift of the neighbouring synthetic jets. As a reference case, the flow around the hump without the influence of the synthetic jet was selected. The results of the measurement are presented in figures and compared.展开更多
The methodology for modeling no-frost refrigerator is described based on the component models developed in PartⅠ,and then,system simulation is applied to a BCD-235W refrigerator-freezer(RF).Experiments are carried ou...The methodology for modeling no-frost refrigerator is described based on the component models developed in PartⅠ,and then,system simulation is applied to a BCD-235W refrigerator-freezer(RF).Experiments are carried out to study'pull-down'and steady-state performance of the RF,and to determine how the experiment and simulation temperature stack up against each other.Good match is found between simulated and measured results for the'pull-down'period.For the steady-state period,the simulation results are also found to agree well with experiment ones except for the temperature profiles of the refrigerator compartment(RC) and freezer compartment(FC).The average temperature and the energy consumption errors between measurement and simulation are less than 10%.Although the model can not reflect the non-uniform air temperature fields in the RC and FC,the variation range and periodicities of the temperature correlate well between the simulation and experiment.We conclude that such a model is valid for investigating the performance of no-frost refrigerator.展开更多
