Reintroduction of captive-bred animals into suitable habitats is an important technique for the long-term conservation and recovery of populations of endangered species in fragmented landscapes.Inbreeding depression i...Reintroduction of captive-bred animals into suitable habitats is an important technique for the long-term conservation and recovery of populations of endangered species in fragmented landscapes.Inbreeding depression is an inherent risk when using captive populations for reintroduction programs and needs to be carefully assessed prior to reintroduction.In this study,we evaluated inbreeding levels within a captive breeding program and one remnant wild population of Cabot's Tragopan (Tragopan caboti),an endangered pheasant species endemic to China,for which reintroduction is now an essential conservation strategy for long-term population persistence.Fifteen highly polymorphic microsatellite loci were developed to genotype individuals.Inbreeding coefficients (FIS) reveal that there is no evidence of inbreeding within the Tragopan Breeding Center of Beijing Normal University (TBCBNU) captive population and the remnant population from the Wuyi-Yandang Mountains.Diversity of origin,large founder population size and a rational breeding strategy are the most critical factors preventing inbreeding depression within the TBCBNU captive population.We suggest that the TBCBNU population is a suitable candidate stock for T.caboti reintroduction programs and that there is an urgent need to better coordinate and strengthen reproduction management of captive T.caboti populations to sustain the long-term ex situ conservation of the species.展开更多

Continuous charges were analyzed dispersively. Based on the Coulomb's law, the dynamic equilibrium equations of the inducing charges on the bomb body were set up. For the four cases of d 0/L (the ratio between the electrode distance and the bomb length), the curves of the charge's distribution were given. It was concluded that: ① the charge density decreases steadily from the end near the frontal electrode to the bomb tail; ② the declining rate of the density is governed by d 0/L , the larger the value of d 0/L ,the higher the declining rate, and vice versa.展开更多

We find that the coupling term between the gravitation and the nonlinear electrodynamics makes the scalar field decay more quickly and it also makes the scalar field oscillate more slowly. On the o'ther words, this coupling term takes effect on the scalar field evolution as a damping factor. We derive the condition in which eradication solution is a global attractor, this condition depends on pulse vaccination proportion p. We also obtain the condition of the global asymptotic stability of the solution. The condition shows that large enough pulse vaccination proportion and relatively small interpulse time lead to the eradication of the diseases. Moreover the results of the theoretical study might be instructive to the epidemiology of HIV.展开更多

However, difficulties in the scale-up synthesis, fast burst release, an...Nanocapsule-based targeted delivery and stimulus-responsive release can increase drug effectiveness, while reducing the side effects of the drug. However, difficulties in the scale-up synthesis, fast burst release, and low degradability, could hamper the translation of drug nanocapsules from lab to clinic. Here we have controllably functionalized the biodegradable and widely available polysuccinimide, in order to obtain an amphiphilic poly(amino acid). Using this polymer, we designed nanocapsules (〈 100 nm) for hydrophobic drug delivery, which could facilitate tumor targeting, hydrogen bond-based pH-responsive release, and real-time fluorescence tracking, in the second near-infrared region. This method is versatile, eco-friendly, and easy to scale up at low costs. In addition, this system can carry a cocktail of drugs, obtained by loading multiple anticancer drugs to the same vehicle. Our nanocapsules were observed to be stable in blood vessels (pH = 7.4), and the pH-responsive release (pH = 5.0 in lysosome) was sustained. The chemotherapy results in tumor-xenografted mice suggested that our nanocapsule was safe and efficient, and may be a useful tool for drug delivery.展开更多

Since his inaugural trip abroad, Xi has repeatedly speeches when addressing international catchphrase received as much appeal as used the term "Chinese Dream" in his audiences. However, nowhere has the in Africa. Simultaneously, African academics and other interested parties have observed the promotion of the idea of an African Dream by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) with great suspicion as they view it simply as a projection of China's own foreign policy onto Africa. But what do the Chinese Dream and African Dream actually mean? How can we make sense out of these terms? In order to decode or demystify the meaning behind the Chinese Dream narrative in the context of China's foreign policy, this paper argues that it is essential to examine how it is constructed and projected to the international audience, in particular to Africa. The Chinese Dream is understood as a narrative which is strategically used by the CCP in order to shape perceptions and behavior of other international actors according to their own agenda. Moreover, the dynamic interactions between the media and politics and how they impinge on the formation and projection of the Chinese Dream and African Dream narrative will also be taken into account.展开更多
