In this paper, two predictive models including Mamdani fuzzy system (MFS) and multivariable regression analysis (MVRA) were developed to predict deformation modulus based on data obtained from dilatometer tests carried out in Bakhtiary dam site and additional data collected from longwall coal mines. Models inputs were considered to be rock quality designation, overburden height, weathering, unconfined compressive strength, bedding inclination to core axis, joint roughness coefficient and fill thickness. To control the models performance, calculating indices such as root mean square error (RMSE), variance account for (VAF) and determination coefficient (R^2) were used. The MFS results show the significant prediction accuracy along with high performance compared to MVRA results. Finally, the sensitivity analysis of MFS results shows that the most and the least effective parameters on deformation modulus are weatherin~ and overburden height, respectively.展开更多

In this work, a numerical wind tunnel was established to calculate the wind load coefficients in various survival stow positions. In order to explore the best survival stow position for the heliostat under the strong wind, eigenvalue buckling analysis method was introduced to predict the critical wind load theoretically. Considering the impact of the nonlinearity and initial geometrical imperfection, the nonlinear post-buckling behaviors of the heliostat were investigated by load-displacement curves in the full equilibrium process. Eventually, combining B-R criterion with equivalent displacement principle the dynamic critical wind speed and load amplitude coefficient were evaluated. The results show that the determination for the best survival stow position is too hasty just by the wind load coefficients. The geometric nonlinearity has a great effect on the stability bearing capacity of the heliostat, while the effects of the material nonlinearity and initial geometrical imperfection are relatively small. And the heliostat is insensitive to the initial geometrical imperfection. In addition, the heliostat has the highest safety factor for wind-resistant performance in the stow position of 90-90 which can be taken as the best survival stow position. In this case, the extreme survival wind speeds for the static and dynamic stability are 150 m/s and 36 m/s, respectively.展开更多

So the writers put forward the idea that the safety factor of surrounding rock calculated through strength reduction FEM(finit element method) should be regarded as the criterion of stability, which has strict mechanical basis and unified standard and would not be influenced by other factors. The paper also studies the safety factors of tunnel surrounding rock (safety factors of shear and tension failure) and lining and some methods of designing and calculating tunnels. At last, the writers take the loess tunnel for instance and show the design and calculation results of two-lane railway tunnel.展开更多

Geotechnical engineers home and abroad have done a lot of work to improve the traditional calculation methods in recent years, while there are lots of defects. This paper first identifies the location of failure surface and safety factor through the finite element program of PLAXIS and then analyses the influencing factors of the stability of reinforced earth retaining wall with geogrid. The authors adopt strength reduction FEM (finite element method)in the design and stability analysis of reinforced earth retaining wall and have achieved some satisfying results. Without any assumptions, the new design method can automatically judge the failure mode of reinforced earth retaining wall, consider the influence of axial tensile stiffness of the reinforcement stripe on the stability of retaining wall, identify reasonable distance and length of the reinforcement stripe, and choose suitable parameters of reinforcement stripe, including strength, stiffness and pseudo-friction coefficient which makes the design optimal. It is proved through the calculation examples that this method is more reasonable, reliable and economical in the design of reinforced earth retaining wall.展开更多

The conventional stringent wash method utilizes high-temperatureflow-salt conditions to enhance the specificity of DNA hybridization-based assays. This method creates a destabilizing environment for base pairing that affects specific and nonspecific duplexes. Therefore, specificity is achieved at the expense of signal intensity or sensitivity. However, in the proposed wash method, AuNPs predominantly destabilize nonspecific duplexes, offering specificity without compromising sensitivity. This AuNP wash technique has proven to be effective in detecting single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genomic samples even at room temperature in a CD-like NanoBioArray (CD-NBA) chip. This method is also robust with sequence variation and is compatible with multiplex DNA analyses on microarrays. Thus, the AuNP wash method could potentially be useful for improving the accuracy of DNA hybridization results.展开更多
