Precipitation as rainfall directly contributes to the SSPF and influences the characteristics of the SSPF, while temperature indirectly impacts the SSPF by shaping snowmelt rate and determining the soil frozen state which partitions snowmelt water into surface runoff and soil infiltration water in spring. It is necessary to identify the important and significant paths of climatic factors influencing the SSPF and provide estimates of the magnitude and significance of hypothesized causal connections between climatic factors and the SSPF. This study used path analysis with a selection of five factors - the antecedent precipitation index (API), spring precipitation (SP), winter precipitation as snowfall (WS), 〈0℃ temperature accumulation in winter ([ATNI), and average 〉0℃temperature accumulation in spring (AT) - to analyze their influences on the SSPF in the Kaidu River in Xinjiang, China. The results show that {ATN}, AT and WS have a significant correlation with the SSPF, while API and SP do not show a significant correlation. AT and WS directly influence the SSPF, while as the influence of[ATN] on SSPF is indirect through WS and AT. The indirect influence of [ATN[ on SSPF through WS accounts for 69% of the total influence of [ATN] on SSPF. Compared to the multiple linear regression method, path analysis provides additional valuable information, including influencing paths from independent variables to the dependent variable as well as direct and indirect impacts of external variables on the internal variable. This information can help improve the description of snow melt and spring runoff in hydrologic models as well as the planning and management of water resources.展开更多

In this paper, the authors extracted normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and vegetation conditional ratio (VCR) from MODIS images, and analyzed the relationships among NDVI, VCR and the measured data of groundwater of the same location in the research region. Based on this, the depth of groundwater suitable for vegetation growth in the upper-middle reaches of the Yellow River basin has been calculated. The results show that the depth of groundwater suitable for vegetation growth in the research region ranges from 0.8 to 4.5m, and the optimal groundwater depth is 1.2m. The method developed in this study is applicable to research the relationship between the groundwater and land surface vegetation environment on large-scale in arid area.展开更多

It identifies those independent variables that explain adoption and can also facilitate further dis...The purpose of this study is to identify the determinants of adoption of sawah technology in Ashanti region of Ghana. It identifies those independent variables that explain adoption and can also facilitate further dissemination and adoption of sawah technology. Sawah refers to leveled rice field surrounded by banks with inlet and outlet for irrigation and drainage. This study uses data from 108 farmers randomly selected from 198 sawah farmers in the study area. Regression analysis showed that age, educational level and year of experience in rice production were the personal factors that determined the adoption of sawah technology among the respondents. The result further showed that contact with extension agents, attendance in previous sawah trainings, land tenure arrangement, yield from sawah farm and attributes of sawah technology determined adoption. This study suggested that adoption of sawah technology should be targeted at young, educated and experienced farmers. Also, security of land must be ascertained by farmers in order to enhance adoption, continuous and sustained use of sawah technology.展开更多
Focusing on controlling the press-assembly quality of high-precision servo mechanism,an intelligent early warning method based on outlier data detection and linear regression is proposed.Linear regression is used to d...Focusing on controlling the press-assembly quality of high-precision servo mechanism,an intelligent early warning method based on outlier data detection and linear regression is proposed.Linear regression is used to deal with the relationship between assembly quality and press-assembly process,then the mathematical model of displacement-force in press-assembly process is established and a qualified press-assembly force range is defined for assembly quality control.To preprocess the raw dataset of displacement-force in the press-assembly process,an improved local outlier factor based on area density and P weight(LAOPW)is designed to eliminate the outliers which will result in inaccuracy of the mathematical model.A weighted distance based on information entropy is used to measure distance,and the reachable distance is replaced with P weight.Experiments show that the detection efficiency of the algorithm is improved by 5.6 ms compared with the traditional local outlier factor(LOF)algorithm,and the detection accuracy is improved by about 2%compared with the local outlier factor based on area density(LAOF)algorithm.The application of LAOPW algorithm and the linear regression model shows that it can effectively carry out intelligent early warning of press-assembly quality of high precision servo mechanism.展开更多
The research objective was to investigate past and current forest management practices in the Maluku archipelago, then to create a better management model to improve prosperity for local communities and to guarantee s...The research objective was to investigate past and current forest management practices in the Maluku archipelago, then to create a better management model to improve prosperity for local communities and to guarantee sustainability of forest ecosystems for future generations. Forest land use, the deforestation process, the potential for maintaining natural production forests and the need to establish a management unit for sustainability of natural production forests (PFMU) were analysed. The analysis model used Geographic Information System (GIS) and satellite imaging. The deforestation process was analysed using the multiple regression model. The research determined the importance of two concepts i.e., (1) A macro concept involving the integration of forest development with regional development and (2) A micro concept which detailed the format of the PFMU as a sub-set of the macro concept. The macro concept involves a new Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP), and the micro concept is a more detailed analysis of a sustainable PFMU, a Management Unit for Protection Forest (PrFMU) and a Management Unit for Conservation Forest (CFMU). Results showed that the existing FLUCP (Forest Land Use Consensus Plan) policy rather than guaranteeing the sustainability of forests, contributed to their deforestation. The integration of forest management and regional development strategies required the establishment of a new FLUP.展开更多

It import the inherit strategy of object-oriented language to ensure an edge’s control domain to reduce the test suit size effectively. We implement the idea by coding the edge. The reverse time migration(RTM)of ground penetrating radar(GPR)is usually implemented in its two-dimensional(2D)form,due to huge computational cost.However,2D RTM algorithm is difficult to focus the scattering signal ...The reverse time migration(RTM)of ground penetrating radar(GPR)is usually implemented in its two-dimensional(2D)form,due to huge computational cost.However,2D RTM algorithm is difficult to focus the scattering signal and produce a high precision subsurface image when the object is buried in a complicated subsurface environment.To better handle the multi-off set GPR data,we propose a three-dimensional(3D)prestack RTM algorithm.The high-order fi nite diff erence time domian(FDTD)method,with the accuracy of eighth-order in space and second-order in time,is applied to simulate the forward and backward extrapolation electromagnetic fi elds.In addition,we use the normalized correlation imaging condition to obtain pre-stack RTM result and the Laplace fi lter to suppress the low frequency noise generated during the correlation process.The numerical test of 3D simulated GPR data demonstrated that 3D RTM image shows excellent coincidence with the true model.Compared with 2D RTM image,the 3D RTM image can more clearly and accurately refl ect the 3D spatial distribution of the target,and the resolution of the imaging results is far better.Furthermore,the application of observed GPR data further validates the eff ectiveness of the proposed 3D GPR RTM algorithm,and its fi nal image can more reliably guide the subsequent interpretation.展开更多
A detailed landslide susceptibility map was produced in the Youfang catchment using logistic regression method with datasets developed for a geographic information system(GIS).Known as one of the most landslide-prone ...A detailed landslide susceptibility map was produced in the Youfang catchment using logistic regression method with datasets developed for a geographic information system(GIS).Known as one of the most landslide-prone areas in China, the Youfang catchment of Longnan mountain region,which lies in the transitional area among QinghaiTibet Plateau, loess Plateau and Sichuan Basin, was selected as a representative case to evaluate the frequency and distribution of landslides.Statistical relationships for landslide susceptibility assessment were developed using landslide and landslide causative factor databases.Logistic regression(LR)was used to create the landslide susceptibility maps based on a series of available data sources: landslide inventory; distance to drainage systems, faults and roads; slope angle and aspect; topographic elevation and topographical wetness index, and land use.The quality of the landslide susceptibility map produced in this paper was validated and the result can be used fordesigning protective and mitigation measures against landslide hazards.The landslide susceptibility map is expected to provide a fundamental tool for landslide hazards assessment and risk management in the Youfang catchment.展开更多
