The comparative experiments of age forming and artificial aging of 2A12 aluminum alloy were carried out. The effect of the age forming on the microstructure and mechanical properties was investigated. The results demonstrate that the grains are further squashed and elongated compared with artificial aging due to the existence of the applied stress during the age forming. Meanwhile, the precipitated phases change from circle shape with random orientation of age forming to long strip shape with uniform orientation of artificial aging. The dislocation configuration in samples changes from ring dislocation or helical dislocation of the artificial aging to long and straight dislocation of the age forming. Otherwise, age forming slightly reduces the tensile properties and fracture toughness of the alloy and enhances its fatigue crack growth rate. 展开更多

Active shape models (ASM), consisting of a shape model and a local gray-level appearance model, can be used to locate the objects in images. In original ASM scheme, the model of object′s gray-level variations is based on the assumption of one-dimensional sampling and searching method. In this work a new way to model the gray-level appearance of the objects is explored, using a two-dimensional sampling and searching technique in a rectangular area around each landmark of object shape. The ASM based on this improvement is compared with the original ASM on an identical medical image set for task of spine localization. Experiments demonstrate that the method produces significantly fast, effective, accurate results for spine localization in medical images. 展开更多

AIM: To observe the effect of solanine on the membrane potential of mitochondria in HepG2 cells and [Ca^2+]i in the cells, and to uncover the mechanism by which solanine induces apoptosis.METHODS: HepG2 cells were double stained with AO/EB, and morphological changes of the cells were observed using laser confocal scanning microscopy (LCSM). HepG2 cells were stained with TMRE, and change in the membrane potential of mitochondria in the cells were observed using LCSM. HepG2 cells were double stained with Fluo-3/AM, and change of [Ca^2+]i in the cells were observed using LCSM. HepG2 cells were double stained with TMRE and Fluo-3/AM, and both the change in membrane potential of mitochondria and that of [Ca^2+]i in the cells were observed using LCSM.RESULTS: Cells in treated groups showed typical signs of apoptosis. Staining with TMRE showed that solanine could lower membrane potential; staining with Fluo-3/AM showed that solanine could increase the concentration of Ca^2+ in tumor cells; and those of double staining with TMRE and Fluo-3/AM showed that solanine could increase the concentration of Ca^2+ in the cells at the same time as it lowered the membrane potential of mitochondria.CONCLUSION: Solanine opens up the PT channels in the membrane by lowering the membrane potential, leading to Ca^2+ being transported down its concentration gradient, which in turn leads to the rise of the concentration of Ca^2+ in the cell, turning on the mechanism for apoptosis. 展开更多

Arsenic(As)removal from smelting acidic wastewater is an urgent task.The most common method is oxidation of trivalent As(III)to pentavalent As(V)subsequently precipitated by ferric(Fe(III))salts.Foundations of redox behavior and chemical species are of great importance for understanding As removal.In this work,cyclic voltammetry(CV)and UV?Vis spectroscopy were used for laboratory observation;meanwhile HSC and MINTEQ software were employed for theoretical analyses.It is found that As(III)oxidation,a multiple electron transfer reaction,is diffusion-controlled.The oxidation over-potential is very high(about0.9V)in sulfuric acid solutions(pH1.0).In addition,Fe(III)?As(V)complexes are evidenced by UV?Vis spectra and chemical species analyses in series of Fe(III)?As(V)?H2SO4?H2O solutions.Therefore,the Fe(III)and As(V)species distribution against pH values are determined and a newφ?pH diagram with inclusion of Fe?As complexes is consequently compiled based on thermodynamic data predicted by other researchers. 展开更多

After examining the types deposited in the Zoologisches Forschungsmuseum Alexander Koenig, Bonn, Germany(ZFMK) and the Natural History Museum, London, United Kingdom(NHM) and specimens deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China(IZCAS), we found that the morphological features of Ourapteryx ebuleata szechuana Wehrli, 1939 and Ourapteryx ebuleata amphidoxa Wehrli, 1939 are quite different from those of Ourapteryx ebuleata Guenée, 1858. The two taxa should be raised to specific status: O. szechuana Wehrli, 1939 stat. nov. and O. amphidoxa Wehrli, 1939 stat. nov. This will result in two subspecies within O. ebuleata: O. ebuleata ebuleata Guenée, 1858 and O. ebuleata deliquescens Inoue, 1995. In this paper, we compare the diagnostic characteristics of O. ebuleata ebuleata, O. ebuleata deliquescens, O. szechuana and O. amphidoxa, and provide photos of the adults and genitalia. 展开更多

The lesser Egyptian jerboa Jaculus jaculus, is a member of the subfamily Dipodinae, known to have a number of subspecies. Previous studies of J. jaculus from North Africa found various morphological forms of unknown taxonomic status, which are frequently grouped into two taxa: J. jaculus and J. deserti. We assessed the taxonomic status of this taxon in Tunisia using allozymic (phylogenetic analysis of 23 genetic loci encoding 16 enzymatic proteins) and morphological (multivariate analysis of 13 craniodental characters) analyses of 136 J. jaculus specimens collected from seven localities within its distribution range. Allozymic analysis clearly indicated the existence of two distinct groups of J. jaculus, with a mean genetic distance (D) value of 0.99 and FΩ=0.52. Individuals within the two groups did not show any obvious geographical structuration, even within the Matmata locality which represents the meeting point for the two groups where they were found in sympatry. Additionally, morphometric analysis of 13 craniodental characters was clearly separated the two groups. These results were obtained over a very restricted area of the total distribution of J. jaculus and strongly suggest the occurrence of two separate and often sympatric species within the currently accepted J.jaculus in Tunisia: J.jaculus and J. deserti 展开更多

Combining mathematical morphology (MM),nonparametric and nonlinear model,a novel approach for predicting slope displacement was developed to improve the prediction accuracy.A parallel-composed morphological filter with multiple structure elements was designed to process measured displacement time series with adaptive multi-scale decoupling.Whereafter,functional-coefficient auto regressive (FAR) models were established for the random subsequences.Meanwhile,the trend subsequence was processed by least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) algorithm.Finally,extrapolation results obtained were superposed to get the ultimate prediction result.Case study and comparative analysis demonstrate that the presented method can optimize training samples and show a good nonlinear predicting performance with low risk of choosing wrong algorithms.Mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and root mean square error (RMSE) of the MM-FAR&LSSVM predicting results are as low as 1.670% and 0.172 mm,respectively,which means that the prediction accuracy are improved significantly. 展开更多

The common motto is the idea of gift. The gift of the death of Christ in the economy of salvation is the target of Derrida's deconstruction. Anselm himself enables this. However, there is in Anselm's theology of Trinity a metaphysics of the gift of being and of being other, elaborated with regard to the procession of the Holy Spirit. And it is possible to submit the original gift of the Holy Spirit to the same kind of deconstruction, that is, of economic reduction, to which the gift of the death of Christ had been submitted. But both the construction and the deconstruction of the theology of gift resort to the same kind of analogy procedure. This study investigated the impact of topography and vegetation on distribution of rare earth elements(REEs)in calcareous soils using methods of single extraction and mass balance calculation. The purposes of the study were to set a basis for further research on the biogeochemical REE cycle and to provide references for soil–water conservation and REE-containing fertilizer amendments. The results show a generally flat Post-Archean Average Australian Shale—normalized REE pattern for the studied calcareous soils. REE enrichment varied widely. The proportion of acidsoluble phases of heavy REEs was higher than that of light REEs. From top to bottom of the studied hills, dominant REE sources transitioned from limestone in-situ weathering to input from REE-containing phases(e.g., clay minerals,amorphous iron, REE-containing fluids). Our results indicate that the REE content of calcareous soils is mainly controlled by slope aspect, while the enrichment degree of REEs is related to geomorphological position and vegetation type.Furthermore, the proportion of acid-soluble phases of REEs is mainly controlled by geomorphological position. 展开更多

Because of its importance as a food source, Nemipterus japonicus (Bloch, 1791) (Nemipteridae) or Japanese threadfin bream is the best studied of these taxa, and numerous investigations have examined its fisheries, its biology and biochemistry. De- spite such intensive work, the taxonomic status of N. japonicus has never been seriously questioned and it is regarded as a common species, widely distributed throughout the Indo-Westem Pacific Ocean. In fact, Bloch's description of the type specimen of N.ja- ponicus has ambiguous collection data and lacks a designation for the type locality, though it is probably Java. In this paper, DNA barcode results based on COl gene support the existence of two geographically separated lineages of the Japanese threadfin bream, both being an Indian Ocean and western Pacific lineage, with 2.7% sequence divergence, and the results indicate a possible existing of some cryptic species. The two lineages also possess a diagnostic difference in their belly color, with specimens in the South China Sea having a silver belly, while those from the Indian Ocean isolate specimen have a yellow coloration. Based upon new collections from the South China Sea, this species from the western Pacific is morphologically redescribed and its details of DNA barcode diver- sity are shown for the future investigations. 展开更多

THE SPECIFIC CHARACTER OF LIMIT ERRORS IN CLOSE RANGE PHOTOGRAMMETRY

Close-range photogrammetry is to determine the shape and size of the object, instead of it's absolute position. Therefore, at first, any translation and rotation of the photogrammetric model of the object caused by whole geodesic, photographic and photogrammetric procedures in close-range photogrammetry could not be considered. However, it is necessary to analyze all the reasons which cause the deformations of the shape and size and to present their corresponding theories and equations. This situation, of course, is very different from the conventional topophotogrammetry. In this paper some specific characters of limit errors in close-range photogrammetry are presented in detail, including limit errors for calibration of interior elements for close-range cameras, the limit errors of relative and absolute orientations in close-range cameras, the limit errors of relative and absolute orientations in close-range photogrammetric procedures, and the limit errors of control works in close-range photogrammetry. A theoretical equation of calibration accuracy for close-range camerais given. Relating to the three examples in this paper, their theoretical accuracy requirement of interior elements of camera change in the scope of ±(0.005–0.350) mm. This discussion permits us to reduce accuracy requirement in calibration for an object with small relief, but the camera platform is located in violent vibration environment. Another theoretical equation of relative RMS of base lines (m S/S) and the equation RMS of start direction are also presented. It is proved that them S/S could be equal to the relative RMS ofm ΔX/ΔX. It is also proved that the permitting RMS of start direction is much bigger than the traditionally used one. Some useful equations of limit errors in close-range photogrammetry are presented as well. Suggestions mentioned above are perhaps beneficial for increasing efficiency, for reducing production cost. 展开更多

A method of image morphology in detecting and extracting the initial welding position during the autonomous welding process is described.During the process,firstly visual sensing technology is used to capture the straight seam image,and secondly the image edges are detected by morphological corrosion edge detection algorithm,with which can retain the critical information while filter other interferences effectively at the same time.Then morphological processing algorithm is used to conduct the direction of filter by selecting the multidirectional linear structuring elements and finally get the initial weld position point coordinates with the Hough transform.The algorithm is simple,rapid,self-adaptability with high accuracy for interferences except long lines so as to accomplish the entire process of detecting the initial welding position.It can meet the practical demands of automatic guidance for robotic welding. 展开更多

We constructed and developed an in-situ cryogenic nanomechanical system to study small-scale mechanical behavior of materials at low temperatures. Uniaxial compression of two body-centered-cubic (bcc) metals, Nb and W, with diameters between 400 and 1300 rim, was studied at room temperature and at 165 K. Experiments were conducted inside of a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) equipped with a nanomechanical module, with simultaneous cooling of sample and diamond tip. Stress-strain data at 165 K exhibited higher yield strengths and more extensive strain bursts on average, as compared to those at 298 K. We discuss these differences in the framework of nano-sized plasticity and intrinsic lattice resistance. Dislocation dynamics simulations with surface-controlled dislocation multiplication were used to gain insight into size and temperature effects on deformation of nano-sized bcc metals. 展开更多

Dislocation dynamics simulations are performed to investigate the effect of template shape on the nanoimprinting of metal layers. To this end, metal thin films are imprinted by a rigid template made of an array of equispaced indenters of various shapes, i.e., rectangular, wedge, and circular. The geometry of the indenters is chosen such that the contact area is approximately the same at the final imprinting depth. Results show that, for all template shapes, the final patterns strongly depend on the dislocation activity, and that each imprint differs from the neighboring ones. Large material pile ups appear between the imprints, such that polishing of the metal layer is suggested for application of the patterns in electronics. Rectangular indenters require the lowest imprinting force and achieve the deepest retained imprints. 展开更多

This paper examined published ^87Sr/^86Sr data of the Lopingian, and projected them on timescales based on evolutionary and age constrained conodonts fossils. ^87Sr/^86Sr evolution vs fossil constraining timescales was re-established in this period. This research suggests: (1) ^87Sr/^86Sr excursion projects on fossil zones can truly support ^87Sr/^86Sr evolutionary pattern in the period; (2) ^87Sr/^86Sr evolution provides a new approach for stratigraphic research of marine carbonate sections in lieu of biostratigraphic data; (3) ^87Sr/^86Sr stratigraphy works on marine carbonate sections of different sedimentation rates even between different basins; (4) the ^875r/^86Sr data and its shift was dependent on samples materials and chemical treatment methods; (5) the increasing rate of marine water ^875r/^86Sr in the Late Permian is suggested as 5.4× 10^-5/Ma or slightly lower; (6) sedimentation age and its ^875r/^86Sr of the Lopingian marine carbonate suggested as: Dpro=259-(Rs- 0.70695)/5.4×10^-5 (Ma). 展开更多
