The nickel coating with 20 μm thickness was applied on 6061 aluminum alloy by direct current electroplating. The samples were then heat-treated for different durations at 450, 500 and 550 °C under argon atmosphere. The intermetallic phases were identified by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The results showed that the formation of intermetallic phases consisted of two important steps. The first step was the lateral growth of intermetallic phase from separate sites, resulting in the formation of a continuous layer. The second step was the growth of the continuous intermetallic layer in the direction perpendicular to the interface. However, excessive increase in thickness of intermetallic phases led to the detachment of reaction products, i.e., Al3 Ni and Al3Ni2, from the substrate. It was also observed that aluminum was the dominant diffusing element during Al3 Ni growth, while nickel diffusion was dominant during Al3Ni2 growth. The growth kinetics of both Al3 Ni and Al3Ni2 phases obeyed a parabolic law.展开更多

Results confirm the existence of 2 quiescences (Q1, Q2) and 1 rest (R) phases in this tree during the dormancy period. In the R time, the E. ulmoides cambium was unable to reactivate even though the tree was subjected to exogenous IAA, suitable temperature or required luminosity. Furthermore, pistillate trees entered the dormant phase earlier than staminate ones. The protein content in the bark during Q1 increased significantly ( P < 0.01), but drastically decreased in the R period, before rising up again at the onset of Q2 ( P < 0.01). Even though the change pattern of protein content was similar, its occurrence is much earlier in staminate than in pistillate plants. SDS-PAGE revealed a 'special' protein band of 11.8 kD in the transitional Q1-R-Q2 stages. This 'special' protein bands would be related to the cambial dormancy and to the regulation of the Q1-R-Q2 transition.展开更多

The results show that the stress state of a mining slope is changed by its gravity and additional stress from the shallow-buried coal seam and gully terrain. The mining slope is found to be most unstable when the ratio of the down-sliding to anti-sliding force is the maximum, causing local fractures and sliding fissures. The predicted angles for the sliding fissure of face 52,304 on both sides of the slope are found to be 64.2° and 82.4°, which are in agreement with the experimental data.展开更多

N2 bubbles were generated in glycerol-water mixtures with different concentrations of surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). And the images were captured by the high speed camera linked to a computer. Results indicated that the bubble formation process can be distinguished into three consecutive stages, i.e., expansion, collapse and pinching off. The bubble size decreases with the increase of liquid flow rate and viscosity of liquid phase as well as the decrease of gas flow rate. The surface tension of the liquid phase has no measurable influence on the bubble size. Moreover, a new approach to predicting the size of bubbles formed in the T-shaped microchannel is proposed. And the predicted values agree well with the experimental data.展开更多

The movement and deformation of ground surface caused by underground water solution mining is believed to be much weaker than that caused by well lane mining, which can be predicted by the stochastic medium theory method. On the basis of analysis on the engineering practice of water solution mining, its corresponding parameters can be obtained from the in-site data of the belt water and sand filling mining in engineering analog approach.展开更多
