Effusive magmatism processes at early stages of planet crust forming come out in structure of solidified relief forms of Mars. Volcanic relief of a planet represents relic ancient line oriented forms, areal and central lava flooding. Linear forms generate shield volcanoes, chains of volcanic mountains and radial-concentric faults. This article deals with geological and morphological characteristics of the volcanic terrain of Mars. Hypsometric altitude profiles of volcanoes have been built based on the MOLA (Mars orbiter laser altimeter) of the spacecraft MGS (Mars global surveyor). The gradient of volcano flanks has been calculated. The relative age of the volcanic terrain was estimated by the classical method of counting of the density of impact craters. Names of the volcanic landforms of Mars are given in the article in accordance with the name nomenclature system approved by the International Astronomical Union. Research results make it possible to compare the scientific and technical information about the planet and analyze the materials of satellite imagery of Mars.展开更多

Traditionally, the main theme is to reduce the size of the catalyst particles as small as possible for maximizing the number of active sites. In recent years, the rapid advancement in materials science has enabled us to fabricate catalyst particles with tuna- ble morphology. Consequently, both size modulation and morphology control of the catalyst particles can be achieved inde- pendently or synergistically to optimize their catalytic properties. In particular, morphology control of solid catalyst particles at the nanometer level can selectively expose the reactive crystal facets, and thus drastically promote their catalytic performance. In this review, we summarize our recent work on the morphology impact of Co304, CeO2 and Fe203 nanomaterials in catalytic reactions, together with related literature on morphology-dependent nanocatalysis of metal oxides, to demonstrate the importance of tuning the shape of oxide-nanocatalysts for prompting their activity, selectivity and stability, which is a rapidly growing topic in heterogeneous catalysis. The fundamental understanding of the active sites in morphology-tunable oxides that are enclosed by reactive crystal facets is expected to direct the development of highly efficient nanocatalysts.展开更多

In the present work, the morphology and structure evolution of the NWAs prepared by the newly developed die nanoimprinting technique has been investigated in detail. It was found that increasing pro- cessing temperature, time and pressure could increase the length of the nanowires and change the NWAs' morphol- ogy from monodispersed form to aggregated form. Increasing processing time and temperature within the supercooled liquid region would promote crystallization, while increasing processing pressure could suppress the crystallization. This work provided important insights into the structure and morphology evolution, and therefore, the tailoring of metallic NWAs prepared by die nanoimprinting through adjusting the process parameters.展开更多
