First, the projective Riccati equations (PREs for short) are resolved by means of a linearized theorem, which was known in the literature. Based on the signs and values of coeffcients of PREs, the solutions with two arbitrary parameters of PREs can be expressed by the hyperbolic functions, the trigonometric functions, and the rational functions respectively, at the same time the relation between the components of each solution to PREs is also implemented. Second, more new travelling wave solutions for some nonlinear PDEs, such as the Burgers equation, the mKdV equation, the NLS^+ equation, new Hamilton amplitude equation, and so on, are obtained by using Sub-ODE method, in which PREs are taken as the Sub-ODEs. The key idea of this method is that the travelling wave solutions of nonlinear PDE can be expressed by a polynomial in two variables, which are the components of each solution to PREs, provided that the homogeneous balance between the higher order derivatives and nonlinear terms in the equation is considered. 展开更多

Life narrative is a field which is currently drawing increasing academic interest in Sri Lanka, though life narratives are an integral part of the socio-political fabric of the nation. In the Sri Lankan, context biography and autobiography are commonly seen as two separate genres in life writing, but certain life narratives tend to blur those boundaries. From This Point Forward, a photography exhibition by Luka Alagiyawanna, My Mother’s Village, a documentary life narrative by Aaron Burton, and Project I Am by Kannan Arunasalam are some examples. The present study analyses life narratives from I Am Jaffna section in Project I Am1; a digital archive of life narratives of Sri Lankan elders. Based on the life narratives, memories, and experiences of Sri Lankan elders, the project strives to find out whether there was a time when people in Sri Lanka did not describe themselves as Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, or Burgher, or a time when ethnic identity was not the primary defining factor of an individual. The reviews and articles on the projects have looked at the project merely as a repository of stories that help Sri Lankans understand their differences and a project promoting reconciliation with hardly any focus on the project as a Sri Lankan life narrative, so that a gap bridged by the present study. The study also focuses on the concept and politics of “othering” with a view to exploring how these life narratives are constructed as Sri Lankan life narratives. For this purpose, the study focuses on the segment on people from Jaffna-I am Jaffa, since the Jaffna community has a long standing history of being “the other.” The inseparability of the concept and politics ofothering and the identity of Sri Lankans show that it is extremely challenging to dispose of the notion of the other as it has actually become an integral aspect of Sri Lankan identity and a social reality. 展开更多

The objective of this study is to explore the psychic, moral, ethical and logical significances in the spectatorship of Bollywood and Tamil film in the Sri Lanka. Bollywood and Tamil film has been taking a very popular cultural performance in Sri Lanka. The original Indian spectatorship of these film traditions has been diverted by the cultural and political psychology of Sri Lanka. Hence, this local orientation of the Indian cinema remains a quite metamorphosis and deconstruction in its appreciation and screening in terms of the social, cultural and political features that deeply-rooted in Sri Lankan history, culture and geographical limitations. For this study, several film texts, which include typical Bollywood and Tamil film characteristic features were used and observed on how they have been absorbed in the Sri Lankan cultural society. And on the other hand, some audience surveys specific to different film appreciation contexts were conducted. They included urban slums, semi-rural Muslim societies, north and east areas of Tamil villages, Colombo urban society, Tamil state areas and Kandyan Sinhala rural villages. In the textual analysis of the film content, implicit psychological narrations and their social and aesthetic interpretations were revealed in the analytical explanations. Using the audience surveys, many different opinions that can be traditionally filtered in the screening and appreciation of these film traditions specific to their living cultural settings were also identified. In conclusion, perception in Sinhala film has been considerably designed by the experience of Bollywood and Tamil film spectatorship is deducted by this study. Hence, not only this social trend affected to the appreciation of film in local general audience but also in all the facets of film production (script writing, shooting, acting, dialoguing, music and choreography and screening) has also significantly being influenced by the Bollywood and Tamil film. As a result of this evolution of local film culture, most recent trend in Sinhala film noir is also being followed by the early subjective consequences of Bollywood and Tamil film culture in Sri Lanka. 展开更多

Objective To study the influencing factors of blood stasis constitution and provide a basis for treating blood stasis-related diseases by traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) constitution identification. Methods Data were collected using the self-developed TCM constitution identification platform based on B/S model by the project team. The obtained data were divided into blood stasis constitution and normal constitution groups. The differences of the categorical type influencing factors(gender, birth mode, feeding mode within four months of birth, family history, marital status, eating habits, sleeping habits, exercise habits, emotional state, stress situation, and living environment) and the quantitative type influencing factors(sleep time, age,and mother’s age at birth) on the constitution of the two groups were analyzed. In the singlefactor analysis, the Pearson’s chi-square test was selected for the categorical variable, and the independent sample t test and Mann-Whitney U nonparametric test were selected for the quantitative variables according to whether they conformed to the positive-terrestrial distribution;the binary logistic stepwise regression method was selected for the multi-factor analysis. Results The data of 318 cases were collected from the TCM composition identification platform, and 159 cases of blood stasis constitution were used as the experimental group and 159 cases of normal constitution were used as the control group. The Pearson’s chi-square test yielded significant differences(P < 0.05) in the effects of gender, pressure situation, family history, living environment, emotional state, exercise habits, and dietary habits on blood stasis constitution. The independent samples t test yielded differences in sleep duration between the blood stasis constitution and normal constitution populations(P < 0.05), which meant sleep duration of the blood stasis constitution population was less than that of the normal constitution population. The Mann-Whitney U nonparametric test results accepted the original hypothesis that there was no difference in the distribution of age and mother’s age at birth across constitution types(P > 0.05). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that gender, family history, marital status, living environment, exercise habits, and emotional state were risk factors for blood stasis constitution(P < 0.05).Conclusion Gender, family history, living environment, emotional state, and exercise habits were significant influencing factors of blood stasis constitution. Blood stasis constitution populations can pay more attention to these influencing factors in their daily life for the prevention and reconciliation of blood stasis constitution. 展开更多

This research study was conducted to review the environmental and social impact of mini hydropower plants (run-of-the-river type) by selecting Denawaka Ganga mini hydropower plant, which is located in Ratnapura district, Sri Lanka. Field visits and discussions among the authors, authorities and the residents were carried out. Then, the environmental and social impacts were scientifically analysed using regulation degree (RD) and environmental impact value (EIV) scores. It was found out that the Denawaka Ganga mini hydropower plant has induced some environmental concerns; however, significant positive social impact to the society. This is in addition to the green energy generation. Therefore, it can be concluded herein that the Denawaka Ganga mini hydropower is an asset to the country, Sri Lanka. 展开更多

This paper demonstrates the use of a commercial simulator as a tool with which to optimize the SAGD (steam-assisted gravity drainage) start-up phase process. The factors affecting the start-up phase are the prime targets. Among the key investigated factors are wellbore geometry effects, reservoir heterogeneity and circulation phase length. Each of the parameters was investigated via steam chamber development observation along the well pair length and the cross sections in the mid, toe and heel areas. In addition, the cumulative recovery in given time, steam-to-oil ratio and CDOR (calendar day oil rate) production data are used to backup the observations produced in the simulated model. Furthermore, an additional component developed during the research is a statistical modification of a layer cake model with which to create a heterogeneous reservoir to represent real reservoir conditions, based on Monte Carlo's simulation. 展开更多

Presented is a new testing system based on using the factor models and self-organizing feature maps as well as the method of filtering undesirable environment influence. Testing process is described by the factor model with simplex structure, which represents the influences of genetics and environmental factors on the observed parameters - the answers to the questions of the test subjects in one case and for the time, which is spent on responding to each test question to another. The Monte Carlo method is applied to get sufficient samples for training self-organizing feature maps, which are used to estimate model goodness-of-fit measures and, consequently, ability level. A prototype of the system is implemented using the Raven's Progressive Matrices (Advanced Progressive Matrices) - an intelligence test of abstract reasoning. Elimination of environment influence results is performed by comparing the observed and predicted answers to the test tasks using the Kalman filter, which is adapted to solve the problem. The testing procedure is optimized by reducing the number of tasks using the distribution of measures to belong to different ability levels after performing each test task provided the required level of conclusion reliability is obtained. 展开更多

Carbon isotope, sulfur isotope, and trace element(including Rare Earth Elements, REE) analyses were conducted on the carbonates of the Dengying Formation at Lianghekou section in southern Shaanxi to reconstruct the terminal Ediacaran shallow-water environment on the northwestern margin of the Yangtze Platform. At Lianghekou section, samples in the middle 50-m of the Beiwan Member show characteristics of low ΣREE concentrations, no MREE-enriched REE distribution patterns, high Ce/Ce* values close to 1, and enriched redox-sensitive elements, whereas samples in the lower 30-m and upper 10-m show opposite characteristics of high ∑REE concentrations, MREE-enriched REE distribution patterns, low Ce/Ce* values around 0.6, and no redox-sensitive elements enriched, indicating that oxygenation did occur in the shallow water on the northwestern margin of the Yangtze Platform and redox conditions of the shallow water fluctuated from relatively oxygenated to anoxic and then back to oxygenated again. We propose that the anoxia appeared in middle of the Beiwan time may associate with the anoxic upwelled water. On one hand, abundant nutrients were brought in by this upwelling event, which stimulated the photosynthetic carbon fixation and increased the organic carbon burial under this anoxic condition, causing a peak of 3.6‰ in δ 13 C. On the other hand, because the anoxic upwelled water replaced the oxic shallow water, together with the increasing organic matter in the water column, bacterial sulfate reduction was enhanced and therefore quickly reduced the sulfate concentration, which eventually caused δ 34 S increasing to 50‰. However, as the upwelling gradually disappeared, δ 13 C and δ 34 SCAS values decreased as well in the late Beiwan time, indicating the shallow water went back to suboxic or oxic again. 展开更多

Cartesian sets are properly subgrids of tensor product grids. Given interpolated functions with all order continuous partial derivatives, the authors directly construct the good error formulas for Lagrange projectors determined by Cartesian sets. Owing to the special algebraic structure, such a good error formula is useful for error estimate. 展开更多
