The effects of several parameters, such as the primary air percentage, excess aircoefficient, bed temperature, Ca/S molar ratio and mass ratio of petroleum coke to coal on SO_2emission were verified. Experimental results show that when the ratio of petroleum coke to coal inthe mixed fuel increases, the SO_2emission increases. The maximum SO_2 emission appears when purecoke burns. The SO_2 concentration in flue gas reduces with the increase in the primary airpercentage, excess air coefficient and Ca/S molar ratio for all kinds of fuel mixtures. After freezethaw, nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) tests and impact loading tests were carried out, from which microscopic damage characteristics of sandstone and dynamic mechanical parameters were obtained. The results indicate that the porosity increases with the increase of cycle number, the rate of porosity growth descends at the beginning of freeze-thaw, yet accelerates after a certain number of cycles. The proportion of pores with different sizes changes dynamically and the multi-scale distribution of pores tends to develop on pore structure with the continuing impact of freeze-thaw and thawing. Dynamic compressive stress-strain curve of sandstone undergoing freeze-thaw can be divided into four phases, and the phase of compaction is inconspicuous compared with the static curve. Elastic modulus and dynamic peak intensity of sandstone gradually decrease with freeze-thaw cycles, while peak strain increases. The higher the porosity is, the more serious the degradation of dynamic intensity is. The porosity is of a polynomial relationship with the dynamic peak intensity.展开更多

The flue gas from a coal-fired plant was first bubbled into CS seriflux for CO2 capture. The obtained carbonated carbide slag seriflux (CCSS) was dried and utilized as a CO2 sorbent in the calcium looping cycles. The CO2 capture behavior of the dried CCSS and the raw CS was investigated in a dual fixed-bed reactor and a thermo- gravimetric analyzer. The effects of carbonation time, calcination temperature and carbonation temperature on CO2 capture performance of CCSS in the multiple carbonation/ calcination cycles were studied. The results show that the CO2 capture capacity of CCSS was higher than that of CS. Calcined at 950 ℃, CCSS shows better carbonation reactivity than CS, which benefits CO2 capture under severe calcination conditions. In the range of 700 to 725℃ for the carbonation, CCSS shows the optimal CO2 capture performance. The calcined CCSS shows better porous microstructure than the calcined CS. The calcined CCSS exhibits a larger surface area and pore volume in the cycles, which favors a higher CO2 capture capacity in the multiple cycles.展开更多

However, with the replacement ratio increasing, the consistency of heat front and flame front is broken, and the thermal utilizing efficiency of fuel is reduced, which results in the decrease of yield and tumble index of sinter. Circulating flue gas to sintering bed as biochar replacing 40% coke, CO in flue gas can be reused so as to increase the thermal utilizing efficiency of fuels, and the consistency of two fronts is recovered for the circulating flue gas containing certain CO2, H2 O and lower O2, which contributes to increasing the maximum temperature, extending the high temperature duration time of sintering bed, and results in improving the output and quality of sinter. In the condition of circulating 40% flue gas, the sintering with biomass fuels is strengthened, and the sintering indexes with biomass fuel replacing 40% coke breeze are comparative to those of using coke breeze completely.展开更多

Some rock structures such as bridge and dam abutments and foundations, and tunnel walls, undergo both static and cyclic loading caused by drilling and blasting, and vehicle-induced vibrations. This type of loading often causes rock to fail at a lower than its static strength due to the effect of rock fatigue. A series of laboratory diametrical compression tests was performed on Brisbane tuff disc specimens to investigate their mode-I fracture toughness response to static and cyclic loading, as a function of the applied load. Both the static and cyclic loading tests were carried out on CCNBD (cracked chevron notched Brazilian disc) rock specimens. In the tests described herein, the reduction in fracture toughness under dynamic cyclic loading was found to be up to 48% of the static fracture toughness. Contrary to the static tests, the cyclic tests produced much more crushed material in front of the tip of the chevron notched crack.展开更多
