Characteristic dimension L represents the linear scale of micromotors. Electromagnetic driving force is proportional to high-order power of characteristic dimension L whereas electrostatic driving force is not. So, in micro domain, the effect of electrostatic force is larger than that of electromagnetic force, which makes electrostatic micromotor more competitive against electromagnetic alternative in MEMS. In assessing the performance of a micromotor, the power per unit volume and efficiency are the two most important criteria. Hence, the two kinds of micromotors are further compared from these two aspects. The results indicate that electrostatic a micromotor has higher power per unit volume and efficiency, moreover, its structure is simple, it can be made sufficiently small. For those advantages of electrostatic micromotors, they can be used in optical devices, aerospace equipment and medical instruments.展开更多

First, the sewage flow rate at two connection points to the Toyogawa River-Basin Sewerage, Japan, was explored for over a year to elucidate the hydraulic energy potential of the sewage. Second, the performance of the pico-hydraulic turbine was investigated via laboratory experiments that supposed the turbine to be installed in the sewage pipe at the connection points. This study indicates that the connection points have hydraulic potential that can be used for power generation throughout the year. It also demonstrates that the pico-hydraulic turbine can be usefully employed for power generation from sewage flowing in the pipe at the connection points.展开更多

Since the thermoelectric modules are able to convert a temperature gradient directly into electricity and still occupy a small space, and have no vibration or noise during operation. Furthermore, the cogeneration using thermoelectric modules is totally clean and reuses part of the residual thermal energy to generate power, or improve the overall yield of the process and avoid the emission of gases to the environment. Therefore, this research contributes to the development of a green energy to numerical modeling for the design and dimensioning of micro-sources of electric power generation from performance curves and predetermined temperature gradients industrial processes. The result is an effective methodology for the design and conditioning the voltage level and power of micro allowing the size of the electrical quickly and securely for many industrial applications, varying the types of modules used area, voltage and power generated.展开更多

These seamless integrations focus on mobility, but at the same time strive to be unobtrusive to the end user. With the introduction of personal data assistants and intelligent cellular phones for the searching of the website, true mobile computing is closer than ever. However, battery technology, which powers most of these mobile connectivity solutions, has not kept up the same pace of improvement. The paper describes a methodology for the design and performance of a self-excited permanent-magnet generator applied to low power supplies. It combines an analytical field model, a lumped reluctance equivalent magnetic circuit, and an equivalent electrical circuit. An illustrated example of a 15-mW, 290-r/min generator is given, and the analysis techniques are validated by measurements on a prototype system.展开更多

The first model consists of speed governor, acceleration control, and temperature control blocks while the other is GAST model. The system comprises a synchronous generator and a MT coupled to it. Simulations are carried out in islanded and grid-connected mode to observe the system response when supplying variable loads. The load following characteristics is observed and validated for this MT-synchronous generator model in Matlab-Simulink environment. This is applicable with combined heat power (CHP) generators both with general fuel as well as bio-fuels. The use of bio-fuels is very much promising for generating green power preventing green house gas emissions for fighting against global warming.展开更多
