We seem to encounter systemi...In this age of modernization and mechanization, we seem to have lost sensitivity to a collective awareness regarding the welfare of our surroundings, people, animals, microbes, and plants. We seem to encounter systemic problems of corruption, moral bankruptcy, and spiritual decay. This leads to a rise in violence at various levels: individual, familial, societal, global, environmental, and biological. In order to combat these problems, it is necessary to examine the diverse semantics of the concept of peace: positive peace, negative peace, world peace, socio-cultural peace, and individual peace. The semantics of peace changes according to the context, for example, "May he rest in peace," is quite different from: "His beautiful memories will give you peace." Since society is constituted of a group of persons, an individual becomes society's substantive foundation with his/her conscious self, made of mind, body and spirit. The individual with creative power can become an agent of positive change. Using the interdisciplinary socio-linguistic/semantic and humanistic-philosophical approaches, this paper analyzes the "all-inclusive" and "interdependent" nature of life and the role and power of the individual (self) in the creation of peace at diverse levels: personal, community, the globe, and the cosmos. The paper draws heavily from India's spiritual worldview and humanistic techniques in resolving conflicts and attaining freedom from ill-health for peaceful living.展开更多

METHODS:This stu...AIM:To demonstrate the feasibility of optical coherence tomography(OCT)imaging in differentiating cervical inlet patch(CIP)from normal esophagus,Barrett'sesophagus(BE),normal stomach and duodenum. METHODS:This study was conducted at the Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare System(VABHS).Patients undergoing standard esophagogastroduodenoscopy at VABHS,including one patient with CIP,one representative patient with BE and three representative normal subjects were included.White light video endoscopy was performed and endoscopic 3D-OCT images were obtained in each patient using a prototype OCT system.The OCT imaging probe passes through the working channel of the endoscope to enable simultaneous video endoscopy and 3D-OCT examination of the human gastrointestinal(GI)tract.Standard hematoxylin and eosin(H and E)histology was performed on biopsy or endoscopic mucosal resection specimens in order to compare and validate the 3D-OCT data. RESULTS:CIP was observed from a 68-year old male with gastroesophageal reflux disease.The CIP region appeared as a pink circular lesion in the upper esophagus under white light endoscopy.OCT imaging over the CIP region showed columnar epithelium structure,which clearly contrasted the squamous epithelium structure from adjacent normal esophagus.3D-OCT images obtained from other representative patients demonstrated distinctive patterns of the normal esophagus,BE,normal stomach,and normal duodenum bulb.Microstructures,such as squamous epithelium,lamina propria, muscularis mucosa,muscularis propria,esophageal glands,Barrett's glands,gastric mucosa,gastric glands, and intestinal mucosal villi were clearly observed with OCT and matched with H and E histology.These results demonstrated the feasibility of using OCT to evaluate GI tissue morphology in situ and in real-time. CONCLUSION:We demonstrate in situ evaluation of CIP microstructures using 3D-OCT,which may be a useful tool for future diagnosis and follow-up of patients with CIP.展开更多

Despite of the convenien...As a novel dynamic network service infrastructure, Internet of Things (IoT) has gained remarkable popularity with obvious su- periorities in the interoperability and real-time communication. Despite of the convenience in collecting information to provide the decision basis for the users, the vulnerability of embed- ded sensor nodes in multimedia devices makes the malware propagation a growing serious problem, which would harm the security of devices and their users financially and physi- cally in wireless multimedia system (WMS). Therefore, many researches related to the mal- ware propagation and suppression have been proposed to protect the topology and system security of wireless multimedia network. In these studies, the epidemic model is of great significance to the analysis of malware prop- agation. Considering the cloud and state tran- sition of sensor nodes, a cloud-assisted model for malware detection and the dynamic differ- ential game against malware propagation are proposed in this paper. Firstly, a SVM based malware detection model is constructed with the data sharing at the security platform in the cloud. Then the number of malware-infected nodes with physical infectivity to susceptible nodes is calculated precisely based on the at- tributes of WMS transmission. Then the statetransition among WMS the modified epidemic devices is defined by model. Furthermore, a dynamic differential game and target cost function are successively derived for the Nash equilibrium between malware and WMS sys- tem. On this basis, a saddle-point malware de- tection and suppression algorithm is presented depending on the modified epidemic model and the computation of optimal strategies. Nu- merical results and comparisons show that the proposed algorithm can increase the utility of WMS efficiently and effectively.展开更多
Considering comprehensive benefit of micro-grid system and consumers,we establish a mathematical model with the goal of the maximum consumer satisfaction and the maximum benefit of power generation side in the view of...Considering comprehensive benefit of micro-grid system and consumers,we establish a mathematical model with the goal of the maximum consumer satisfaction and the maximum benefit of power generation side in the view of energy management.An improved multi-objective local mutation adaptive quantum particle swarm optimization(MO-LM-AQPSO)algorithm is adopted to obtain the Pareto frontier of consumer satisfaction and the benefit of power generation side.The optimal solution of the non-dominant solution is selected with introducing the power shortage and power loss to maximize the benefit of power generation side,and its reasonableness is verified by numerical simulation.Then,translational load and time-of-use electricity price incentive mechanism are considered and reasonable peak-valley price ratio is adopted to guide users to actively participate in demand response.The simulation results show that the reasonable incentive mechanism increases the benefit of power generation side and improves the consumer satisfaction.Also the mechanism maximizes the utilization of renewable energy and effectively reduces the operation cost of the battery.展开更多

Methods: Date of the 65 patients from 2003 to 2004 were retrospectively analyzed, relationship between LDH and β2-MG activities and tumor phase, effect of treat- ment as well as prognosis were studied. Results: The levels of LDH and β2-MG in the advanced stage, B group and bone marrow involvement were obviously higher than their comparison counterpart and the difference was significant (P 〈 0.05). There was no significant difference between the high LDH group and normal LDH group in the two-year survival rate. But the difference in the four-year survival rate was significance. Conclusion: The level of LDH and β2-MG are valuable for clinical stage, prognosis and evaluation of therapeutic response in patients with NHL.展开更多

Insoluble microparticles in ice cores are related closely to the transportation of eolian dust,and thus are important natural media to reconstruct climate change.In this study,we conducted a systematic mineral-magneti...Insoluble microparticles in ice cores are related closely to the transportation of eolian dust,and thus are important natural media to reconstruct climate change.In this study,we conducted a systematic mineral-magnetic investigation of insoluble microparticles in the Nojingkangsang ice core (29°2.1'N,90°11.88'E,5950 m) from the Southern Tibetan Plateau.Results indicate that the dominant magnetic mineral is magnetite,and its concentration has grown significantly since the 1980s,which coincides with trends in climate warming of the Tibetan Plateau.Influenced by regional warming,the glacial recession around Nojingkangsang shortens the distance between the dust source and glacial areas and thus increases the concentration of coarse-grained magnetic minerals in ice cores.However,the frequency of dust storms,associated with annual precipitation,could play only a regulatory role on the magnetic content over yearly (or seasonal) time scales.Therefore,using a new approach,the magnetic index of insoluble microparticles in ice cores of this region is seen as mainly reflecting trends in climate warming.展开更多

Three distinct initial conditions are constructed and generalized numerical solutions are thereby obtained, including numerical hyperbolic function solutions and doubly periodic ones. Illustrative figures and comparisons between the numerical and exact solutions with different values of p are used to test the efficiency of the proposed method, which shows good results are azhieved.展开更多
