The size, morphology and structure of resultant surface-capped Cu nanoparticles (coded as DTC8-Cu) were analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and infrared spectrometry. The tribological behavior of DTC8-Cu as an additive in liquid paraffin was evaluated with a four-ball machine, and the surface topography of the wear scar was also examined by means of scanning electron microscopy. Results show that Cu nanoparticles modified by DTC8 have a small particle size and a narrow size distribution. Besides, DTC8-Cu as an additive in liquid paraffin has excellent antiwear ability, due to the deposition of nano-Cu with low melting point on worn steel surface leading to the formation of a self-repairing protective layer thereon.展开更多

The results revealed that some nano-particle were incorporated into the resulting coating during the MAO process, while there was a reasonable concentration for the TiO2 nano-additive. With increasing the nano-additive concentration to 3.2 g/L, the adhesion value increased, while mean friction coefficient and mass loss decreased. A further increase of nano-additive deteriorated the adhesion and mean friction coefficient values, which was consistent with the micro-hardness tests.展开更多

Conventionally, these are built and used separately as discrete components. Herein, we propose a simple and cost-effective laser engraving technique for fabricating a flexible self-charging micro-supercapacitor power unit (SCMPU), by integrating a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and a micro-supercapacitor (MSC) array into a single device. The SCMPU can be charged directly by ambient mechanical motion. We demonstrate the ability of the SCMPU to continuously power light-emitting diodes and a commercial hygrothermograph. This inves- tigation may promote the development of sustainable self-powered systems and provide a promising new research application for supercapacitors.展开更多
