The fabrication of nanocrystalline nickel coatings was conducted by pulse jet electrodeposition on the substrate of 45# carbon steel.The effects of average current density on the surface morphology,microstructure,aver...The fabrication of nanocrystalline nickel coatings was conducted by pulse jet electrodeposition on the substrate of 45# carbon steel.The effects of average current density on the surface morphology,microstructure,average grain size and microhardness of nickel coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffractometry(XRD)and microhardness measurement.In addition,the corrosion resistances of coating and substrate were compared.It is revealed that the nickel coatings prepared by pulse jet electrodeposition exhibit a fine-grained structure with a smooth surface and a high density,although some pores and defects are still present in coatings.With the increase of average current density,the average grain size of nickel coatings is reduced at first and then increased.The coating with the optimum compactness,the smallest average grain size(13.7 nm)and the highest microhardness are obtained at current density of 39.8 A/dm2.The corrosion resistance is obviously increased for the coatings prepared by pulse jet electrodeposition;however,the corrosion rate is increased after a certain period due to the penetration of the corrosive media.展开更多
The microstructure and properties of the 93W-4Ni-2Co-1Fe(mass fraction,%) tungsten heavy alloys prepared by mechanical alloying and electric current activated sintering from mixed elemental powders were investigated.A...The microstructure and properties of the 93W-4Ni-2Co-1Fe(mass fraction,%) tungsten heavy alloys prepared by mechanical alloying and electric current activated sintering from mixed elemental powders were investigated.After 15 h milling,the average W grain size in the powders is decreased to 120 nm.For the powders milled for 15 h,the density,hardness and transverse rupture strength of the alloys sintered only by an intensive pulse electric current are the maximum.When the total sintering time keeps constant,the properties of the sintered alloys can be obviously improved by optimizing the sintering time of pulse-and constant-currents.A bulk ultrafine alloy with an average W grain size of about 340 nm can be obtained by sintering 15 h-milled powders in a total sintering time of 6 min.The corresponding sintered density,hardness and transverse rupture strength reach 16.78 g /cm3,HRA84.3 and 968 MPa,respectively.展开更多

Most of the materials used in engineered cementitious composite are fine in size to achieve ductile nature.Stone slurry powder(SSP)is an inert material obtained from stone industries as by-product which may cause haza...Most of the materials used in engineered cementitious composite are fine in size to achieve ductile nature.Stone slurry powder(SSP)is an inert material obtained from stone industries as by-product which may cause hazardous impact on environment.In this research work,partial replacement of silica sand(SS)and fine sand(FS)by SSP with different contents(25%and 50%each)for making engineered cementitious composite has been explored.The performance was evaluated on the basis of strength,tensile strain,mid span deflection capacity,ultra-sonic pulse velocity and microstructure.Mechanical strength was found to be increased at 25%SSP in both replacements;whereas,strength decreased slightly at 50%replacement.Tensile strain,mid span deflection and quality of concrete were enhanced with increase in SSP content.Using SSP formed denser cementitious composite can help to save the natural resources and contribute in making green cementitious composite.展开更多
