Through the empiri...To resolve the ontology understanding problem, the structural features and the potential important terms of a large-scale ontology are investigated from the perspective of complex networks analysis. Through the empirical studies of the gene ontology with various perspectives, this paper shows that the whole gene ontology displays the same topological features as complex networks including "small world" and "scale-free",while some sub-ontologies have the "scale-free" property but no "small world" effect.The potential important terms in an ontology are discovered by some famous complex network centralization methods.An evaluation method based on information retrieval in MEDLINE is designed to measure the effectiveness of the discovered important terms.According to the relevant literature of the gene ontology terms,the suitability of these centralization methods for ontology important concepts discovering is quantitatively evaluated.The experimental results indicate that the betweenness centrality is the most appropriate method among all the evaluated centralization measures.展开更多

[Re...[Objective] This study aimed to screen a set of SSR core primers suitable for purity identification of pepper (Capsicum) hybrids. [Method] DNA fingerprint of 100 pepper hybrids was analyzed using 17 SSR primers. [Result] According to the polymorphism and heterozygosity, Hpms1-214, Es395 and Hpmsl-5 were determined as three preferred core primers for purity identification of pepper hybrids. By using these three preferred core primers, 97 pepper hybrids (accounting for 97%) had heterozygous band pattern with at least one primer. Es330, Es363, Epms923, Es120 and Es64 were determined as candidate core primers for purity identification of pepper hybrids. Specific primers of 14 varieties were obtained, which could be used to further screen parent-complementary primers of each pepper hybrid. [Con- clusion] This study laid the foundation for constructing standard DNA fingerprints for purity identification of pepper hybrids.展开更多

[Method] The special plant nutritional element (SPNE) was sprayed on the flowering Chinese cabbage plants after the beginning of harvesting. The effects of SPNE on the yield traits and biochemical quality traits of flowering Chinese cabbage were investigated in the un-conventional using period. [Results] The results showed the flowering stalk of flow-ering Chinese cabbage developed earlier and grew fasterly for the SPNE treatment;the diameter, length and weight of flowering stalk of SPNE-treated flowering Chi-nese cabbage were al higher than that of control. The SPNE treatment could not only increase yield, but also bring better biochemical quality. The protein, vitamin C and calcium contents, especial y the chlorophyl and sugar contents in the SPNE-treated flowering Chinese cabbage were al higher than that of control, making the SPNE-treated flowering Chinese cabbage taste better. [Conclusion] lt was indicated although sprayed after the beginning of harvesting, the SPNE had a certain effect on the flowering Chinese cabbage.展开更多
Rationally manipulating the in‐situ formed catalytically active surface of catalysts remains a great challenge for a highly efficient water electrolysis.Here,we report a cationic oxidation method which can adjust the...Rationally manipulating the in‐situ formed catalytically active surface of catalysts remains a great challenge for a highly efficient water electrolysis.Here,we report a cationic oxidation method which can adjust the leaching of the in‐situ catalyst and promote the reconstruction of dynamic surface for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).The chlorine doping can reduce the possibility of triggering in‐situ cobalt oxidation and chlorine leaching,leading to a transformation of the surface chlorine doped LaCoO_(3)(Cl‐LaCoO_(3))into an intricate amorphous(oxygen)hydroxide phase.And thus,Cl‐LaCoO_(3)nanocrystals shows an ultralow overpotential of 342 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm^(–2)and Tafel slope of 76.2 mV dec–1.Surface reconstructed Cl‐LaCoO_(3)is better than many of the most advanced OER catalysts and has proven significant stability.This work provides a new prospect for designing a high‐efficiency electrocatalyst with optimized perovskite‐structure in renewable energy system.展开更多

The aim of the present study was t...Previously, mouse bone marrow-derived stem cells (MSC) treated with the unspecific DNA methyltransferase inhibitor 5-azacytidine were reported to differentiate into cardiomyocytes. The aim of the present study was to investigate the efficiency of a similar differentiation strategy in human mononuclear cells obtained from healthy bone marrow donors. After 1-3 passages, cultures were exposed for 24 h to 5-azacytidine (3 μM) followed by 6 weeks of further culture. Drug treatment did not induce expression of myogenic marker MyoD or cardiac markers Nkx2.5 and GATA-4 and did not yield beating cells during follow-up. In patch clamp experiments, approximately 10-15% of treated and untreated cells exhibited L-type Ca^2+ currents. Almost all cells showed outwardly rectifying K^+ currents of rapid or slow activation kinetics. Mean current amplitude at +60 mV doubled after 6 weeks of treatment compared with time-matched controls. Membrane capacitance of treated cells was significantly larger than in controls 2 weeks after treatment and remained high after 6 weeks, Expression levels of mRNAs for the K^+ channels Kv 1,1, Kv 1,5, Kv2,1, Kv4,3 and KCNMA 1 and for the Ca^2+ channel Cav 1.2 were not affected by 5-azacytidine. Treatment with potassium channel blockers tetraethylammonium and clofilium at concentrations shown previously to inhibit rapid or slowly activating K^+ currents of hMSC inhibited proliferation of these cells. Our results suggest that despite the absence of differentiation ofhMSC into cardiomyocytes, treatme.nt with 5-azacytidine caused profound changes in current density.展开更多
Mutations in cardiac troponin I (cTnI) gene were assessed based on gene-chip technology.Special probes were designed to fabricate the low-density gene-chip,which could detect the mutations in exons 3,5,7,and 8 of th...Mutations in cardiac troponin I (cTnI) gene were assessed based on gene-chip technology.Special probes were designed to fabricate the low-density gene-chip,which could detect the mutations in exons 3,5,7,and 8 of the cTnI gene simultaneously.For each exon,two oligonucleotide sequences labeled with fluorescein at the 5'-end were designed,one (oligonucleotide Ⅰ) simulating the wild type and the other (oligonucleotide Ⅱ) simulating the mutant.Oligonucleotides Ⅰ and Ⅱ were mixed together to simulate the heterozygote.After optimizing the hybridization protocols,the fabricated gene-chip could detect the mutations in the exons of the cTnI gene with relative high sensitivity and specificity.The fully complementary probe gave a fluorescent signal almost 50% stronger than that of the one-base mismatched one,which is in accordance with the result from a theoretical estimate. An applicable special gene-chip is available to investigate and diagnose familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (FHCM) after further improvement.展开更多

The authors evaluated the association of serum uric acid (SUA) levels with adverse cardiovascular events and deaths in an elderly population affected by advanced atherosclerosis. However, little attention is paid to evaluate the functional state ...The diagnosis of disease and prescription of therapy are mainly realized through the control of physiological functions in humans during wakefulness. However, little attention is paid to evaluate the functional state of a patient in sleep. The efficiency of prescribed medicines is also determined in wakefulness. The effects of these drugs during sleep are usually out-of-sight of a physician. Human psychoemotional state during wakefulness is closely related to sleep. Various serious disturbances in physiological functions appear during the night sleep. They include cardiovascular disorders (hypertensive crisis, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, stroke, etc.), which may cause sudden death. A large body of evidence shows that stress is followed by sleep disorders. They serve as a factor, which contributes to the development of stress. It should be noted that sleep is the major anti-stress factor. The vicious circle is formed, which can be revealed by a complex control of human physiological functions during wakefulness and sleep. We developed a new methodology and constructed an information-and-equipment device for monitoring of vital physiological functions of humans during sleep in a real everyday life. This approach holds much promise for the diagnosis of disease and evaluation of therapeutic efficacy.展开更多

It combines the induced learning based-on decision-making tree with the blocking neural network. And it provides a useful intelligent knowledge-based data mining technique. Its core algorithm is ID3 and Field Theory based ART (FTART). The paper introduces the principals of hybrid machine learning firstly, and then applies it into analyzing family apparel expenditures and their influencing factors systematically. Finally, compared with those from the traditional statistic methods, the results from HML is more friendly and easily to be understood.
