The animation, as a culture carriers, is showcasing its increasingly diversified value orientations. One significant theme in Chinese mythology is “Zhiguai,” and in relative terms, the role of justice often reflects marginal cultures. The “She wolf” in “Yao-Chinese Folktales” reimagines “Zhiguai” with contemporary values by characterizing the “otherness” to reflect upon the “Id” greatly representing the identity formation of marginalized groups following conflicts with dominant groups. This paper is based on the Framework of Multi-modal Discourse Analysis to analyse the image of “Zhiguai” in the “She wolf” of “Yao-Chinese Folktales” across cultural, contextual, content, and expressive dimensions. We observe the Social Revolution reflected behind the new characters of “Zhiguai” that integrate contemporary aesthetics and ideologies, meanwhile analyze how the new characters of “Zhiguai” step out the box that the traditional mainstream is opposed to the marginal culture and disseminate “Harmony without uniformity in the spirit of inclusiveness” Chinese ideas embodying Chinese humanistic care in the new era.展开更多
