Micro-turbine engine has no enough space for measuring impeller characteristics,so the design and the construction of a new test facility of micro-turbo-machinery are presented for micro-centrifugal compressors and radial turbines.The facility is used for the full speed compressor test and the long duration hot turbine test.To rapidly adjust the testing condition,all regulations of the operating state are automatically completed by the control system.The facility is also used for testing the impeller performance with a series of diameter from 55 mm to 180 mm as a result of the modular design.A thermal protection system is designed to avoid the heat distortion caused by the high turbine inlet temperature over 1 100 K and provide a proper experimental environment for the electronic components.A photoelectric torque transducer with the accuracy of 1% is designed to measure the torque of rigid shaft at a high speed of 125 000 r/min.The designing techniques for micro-turbo-machineries are verified by the impeller testing of the facility. 展开更多

In order to find the test cube for industrial robots as specified by ISO 9283, a seed cube is grown up in an irregular working space of the robot, provided that the corners of the cube do not exceed the boundary of the working space. All possible cubes are searched, and the cube with the maximum volume is selected. The calculation examples show that the method of growth can be used for a variety of industrial robots. The method of growth can determine the test cube and test points of irregular working space according to ISO 9283, and can avoid blindness and randomness in the selection of test points. 展开更多

Effects of ball-milling parameter on structures and properties of sintered Mg-l.5Zr (mass fraction, %) alloy were researched by metallographic analysis, mechanical properties tests and DMA technology. The results indicate that with 310 r/min rotation speed, the microstructure of the sintered alloy is greatly refined, and Zr-phase distributes uniformly. The micro-hardness, bending strength and damping capacities are the greatest under 310 r/min rotation speed. The damping peak of sintered Mg-l.5Zr alloy increases with increasing frequency under the testing conditions. The relaxation time meets the Arrhenius relationship, and shows the characteristics of relaxation damping. 展开更多

In order to investigate the compression creep of two kinds of high-performance concrete mixtures used for prestressed members in a bridge,an experimental test under laboratory conditions was carried out.Based on the experimental results,a power exponent function was used to model the creep degree of these high-performance concretes(HPCs) for structural numerical analysis,and two series parameters of this function for the HPCs were given with the optimum method of evolution program.The experimental data were compared with CEB-FIP 90 and ACI 92 models.Results show that the two code models both overestimate the creep degree of two HPCs,so it is recommended that the power exponent function should be used for the creep analysis of bridge structure. 展开更多

To analyze the feasibility of application of composite material as the insulating material, it is necessary to have knowledge of some of its mechanical properties. An insulating material may suffer from the most different efforts, but the major applications suggest mechanical bending and compression tests because the insulation can be applied on roofs of homes, liners similar to, in the form of plates. Thus, the product is continually flexed. When the material is used on a floor, it suffers constant compressions over its use. For tests performed in this study, we used the ASTM D695-96 for compression, an example of literature. Using such a standard test, specimens were produced for compression test, with specimens made of cylindrical shapes, respecting the condition that the height of the specimen corresponds to twice the diameter of the base. Polyurethane castor without charge vermiculite and mass loads of 10%, 15% and 20% matrix: four specimens for each type of material were produced. The composites were tested in a universal testing machine at a speed of 2 mm/s. The results are average values of four test samples, and initially show the behavior of castor oil polyurethane during the compression test, which is detailed in the stress versus strain curve. A set of water powered excavation test system was developed for the comprehensive performance testing and evaluation of water powered percussive rock drill indoors. The whole system contains hydraulic power section, electronic control system, test and data acquisition system, and assistant devices, such as guideway and drilling bench. Parameters of the water powered percussive rock drill can be obtained by analyzing testing data, which contain impact energy, front and back cavity pressure, pressure and flow in each working part, drilling velocity, frequency and energy efficiency etc. The system is applied to test the self-designed water powered percussive rock drill SYYG65. The parameters of water powered percussive rock drill with impact pressure of about 8.9 MPa are 58.93 J for impact energy, and 8.97% for energy efficiency, which prove the effectiveness of system. 展开更多

Therefore the aim of this study is to improve the efficiency fuel of diesel engine using fuel filter. The method used for the research is testing the most efficient fuel filters made of coil wire coil winding 5,000, the three distinguished from the coil core diameter of 44.5, 28.5 and 17.5 mm in diesel engine. The performance test was conducted from 1,100 rpm to 1,700 rpm, the throttle opening of 30%-60%. The first testing was done by creating a constant speed 1,500 rpm and throttle opening varies from 30% to 60%, further testing is done by varying the rpm start from 1,100 rpm to 1,700 rpm to make constant valve 40% and 60%. 展开更多

Effect of Micro Silica on Compressive Strength of Plastic Concrete

This research describes a series of laboratory tests performed to characterize the mechanical properties of plastic concrete. The mechanical properties of plastic concrete are studied using a series of compression tests. Stress relaxation and controlled rate of loading tests are also performed to investigate the rate sensitivity and time-dependency of plastic concrete. An important requirement for the plastic concrete in such applications is adequate strength for the design loads. The replacement of cement content of plastic concrete by micro silica does not result in any significant decrease in workability of plastic concretes and hence, unlike the case for normal concretes, plasticizers or super plasticizers are not required to rectify the adverse effect of micro silica on workability. The aim of the experimental research was to investigate the effects of various levels of cement replacement by micro silica, including 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% and 15% on strength of plastic concrete. Obtained results show that the effect of micro silica on strength enhancement of plastic concretes is substantial and a replacement level of 15% resulted in 70%-180% increase in strength compared to the control mix. For normal concretes, the increase in strength due to incorporation of micro silica was generally reported as 30%-50%. 展开更多

The mechanical performance of the FSM is tested. The results show that the tilting range of the mirror is about 4 mrad, and the 1st-order resonance frequency is about 250 Hz. A self-designed grating encoder is taken as the sensor, which ensures the optimal precision of 10 μrad. The novel mechanical design can meet the requirement of engineering in incoherent laser beam combination. 展开更多

A performance study of a water ramjet engine is described.The engine is powered by the reaction of a magnesium-based propellant and ingested water.In this study,a solid propellant,which consisted of a large percentage of magnesium,a binder and a small amount of oxidant,was used as a hydro reactive fuel.Cold water was injected into the combustion chamber as a main oxidant.A scaled-down experimental engine was tested in a direct-connect ground testing system to characterize the factors influencing the engine performance.The results show that the increasing of total water/fuel ratio,an addition of secondary water intake along the combustion chamber,a larger magnesium content in the solid propellant,a smaller primary water injection angle towards the coming main flow,and a higher primary injection pressure were all able to promote the engine performance.The maximum engine performance was obtained in test 08,and with all tests,an appropriate set of parameters and conditions for the optimum engine performance were determined 展开更多

Performance improvement of existing 200 litres capacity natural convection type domestic solar hot water system is attempted.A two-stage centrifugal pump driven by a vertical axis windmill having Savonius type rotor is added to the fluid loop.The windmill driven pump circulates the water through the collector.The system with necessary instrumentation is tested over a day.Tests on Natural Circulation System(NCS)mode and Wind Assisted System(WAS)mode are carried out during January,April,July and October,2009.Test results of a clear day are reported.Daily average efficiency of 25-28% during NCS mode and 33-37% during WAS mode are obtained.With higher wind velocities,higher collector flow rates and hence higher efficiencies are obtained.In general,WAS mode provides improvements in efficiency when compared to NCS mode. 展开更多
