Thus far, previous work in delay diversity assumed that perfect estimates of current channel fading conditions are available at the receiver and training symbols are required to estimate the channel from the transmitter to the receiver. However, increasing the number of the antennas increases the required training interval and reduces the available time with in whichdata may be transmitted. Learning the channel coefficients becomes increasingly difficult for the frequency selective channels. In this paper, with the subspace method and the delay character of delay diversity, a channel estimation method is proposed, which does not use training symbols. It addresses the transmit diversity for a frequency selective channel from a single carrier perspective in the form of a simple equivalent flat fading model. Monte Carlo simulations give the performance of channel estimation and the performance comparison of our channel-estimation-based detector with decision feedback equalization, which uses the perfect channel information.展开更多

However, the significance of sex pheromones in shaping mate choice (sexual selection) and in competition over breeding resources (social se- lection) has been largely ignored. The effect of sexual selection on sex pheromones as a sexually dimorphic signaling trait has been discounted because the amount of pheromone released by females is typically minute, while the role of sex pheromones in competition over breeding resources (other than mates) has not yet been considered. As a result of natural selection, variation in sex pheromones among females is expected to be low, and males are not expected to choose their mates among phero- mone-releasing conspecific females. Sexual selection, on the other hand, should drive the increase in pheromone variance among females, and males are expected to choose females based on this variation. Moreover, social selection resulting from more general social interactions, for example competition among females for breeding sites and food, should also promote variance among female sex pheromones. Here, we review the cttrrent evidence for each of the three selection processes acting on sex pheromones of female moths as an advertising trait. We suggest that the three selection types are not mutually exclusive but rather act together to promote different fimess components in diverse ecological situations展开更多

However, traditional in-phase and quadrature(IQ) plane is difficult to express the frequency modulation scheme such as minimum shift keying(MSK) and the time domain modulation such as cyclic code shift keying(CCSK). How to represent the digital signal modulation visually through constellation mapping is an attractive problem. To address this issue, in this paper, the combined frequency and phase modulation are utilized to define a new kind of constellation mapping, where the phase and frequency are quantized to the same elements. The uniform geometric construction for combined phase and frequency modulation is redefined in the 3D cylindrical coordinate system based on frequency(f), in-phase component(I) and quadrature component(Q). In the new coordinates, the quadrature frequency-phase shift keying(QFPSK) is produced by the QPSK with dimensional rotation matrix and denoted by the reduced dual quaternion. Furthermore, the spatial extension from QFPSK to chirp cyclic shift keying(Chirp CSK) is analyzed with bandwidth efficiency and energy efficiency. At last, the QFPSK is combined with the 2D OFDM, yielding the image OFDM system.Experimental results verify the effectiveness of QFPSK in the proposed system with the time-varying wireless channel and frequency selective fading channel respectively.展开更多

In the method, the mutual projections of the chromatographic profiles at different m/z channel are calculated using NNIA. Suppose a GC-MS data with m retention time points and n mass channels, the projections of the GC-MS data onto a chromatographic profile at a mass channel will form a mass spectrum of ln vector. If the chromatographic profile at a selective mass channel is used, the extracted mass spectrum will be a correct one. Therefore, by comparing the extracted mass spectrum with a reference spectrum, the selective ion can be identified, and the corresponding chromatographic profile can be obtained at the same time. GC-MS data of 40-pesticide mixture was investigated by the method. The results show that both the mass spectral and the chromatographic information of the interested components can be extracted from the overlapping signals, except for the special cases of isomeric components with very similar mass spectra.展开更多
