Methods A case of postoperative recurrent FDCS deriving from the appendix was reported. The pathological changes and immunohistochemistry were evaluated. Results The histopathology of the specimen obtained from the recurrent tumor was identical with that of the first laparotomy. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for CD21, CD35,展开更多

We describe 3 cases of brain metastases in patients suffering from post-HBV hepatocarcinoma. The "stroke-like" presentation of the cerebral localization of the disease can be explained by both the important vascularization of the tumor and the frequent hemocoagulative alterations caused by the cirrhosis. The importance of diagnostic neuroradiology is briefly addressed, with reference to the fundamental role played by MRI. Surgery of these lesions does not present any particular technical problems as long as they are located in accessible areas and the patient's general and neurological conditions allow it. Postoperative radiotherapy seems to improve the quality and quantity of residual life, although the number of patients described in the literature was too small to draw any definite conclusion in this regard.展开更多

Being the main form of stored iron in the body, it plays an important role in the iron balance. When the iron level in the body increases, ferritin can intake and storage the iron avoid- ing the cytotoxicity caused by the high level of Jntracellular iron; when body needs more iron, ferritJn can release iron at any time. Recent studies have found that tumor tissue can synthesize and secrete ferritin. Ferritin levels increase in liver cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, leukemia and other malignancies. In this paper, we reviewed the relationship between the changed ferritin and the malignancy disease.展开更多

Methods: The 25 malignancy patients confirmed by histopathology or cytology received single-agent gemcitabine or gemcitabine in combination with other chemo- therapeutic agents. These patients were randomly divided into gemcitabine 1000 mg/m2 on dl, d8 at a rate of 10 mg/m2/min arm (FDR arm) or 30 rain arm (standard arm), every 21 days one cycle. Hematologic toxicity was evaluated at the end of each cycle. Results: The 13 of 25 patients received gemcitabine FDR therapy, a total of 28 cycles was completed, and 32 cycles in the others (12 of 25 patients) with the standard arm. All patients were evaluable for hematologic toxicity. The result showed that the grades 3-4 leucopenia was significantly different between the two arms (14.3% vs 0, P 〈 0.05), and no significant differences of neutropenia, thrombocytopenia and hemoglobin suppression of grades 3-4 (14.3% vs 3.1%, 10.7% vs 3.1%, 3.6% vs 9.4%, P 〉 0.05, respectively) were observed between the two arms, no grade 4 of hemoglobin suppression was observed. Conclusion: Hematologic toxicity of gemcitabine therapy at a fixed-dose rate for malignancy is tolerable.展开更多
