The cognitive world is of two kinds: ICM and background knowledge. The process of understanding discourse is the process of activating the human's ICM and background knowledge so that coherence is realized.展开更多

To unequivocally cultivate the socialist core values of these students and deeply influence their ideological understanding and behaviors, the concept of "education involved by all related people" is necessarily implemented in all aspects, and the joint force of "imparting knowledge and educating people" , "educating people by management" , and "educating people by service" is formed. As a result, the actual effectiveness of the ideological and political education is improved in institutions of higher learning.展开更多

It is also about the imagination and human progress, rationality and subjectivity, as well as the development of devices to ascertain out accurate knowledge--and yet the imagination and forms of thought are themselves devices that are integral to mechanical inventions. At the core of the subject under discussion, the aesthetic can be found reasons for the existence of other phenomena, the rational and the sensitive, epistemology and phenomenology, fulfilling human pleasure and necessity, and moving forward a humanized cosmos. Somewhere seems to rise and grow afresh a precise image of what we actually are and it can be revealed simply by being in the world and experiencing it on the basis of the mind-body-worM or by extending human senses through technology.展开更多

The aim of that "experiment" is to establish "an entire revolution" in philosophical thinking, which was initiated by the Copernican revolution in cosmology in order to find the secure path, and its possibility application to metaphysics. Kant's aim in Critique of Pure Reason is to rescue metaphysics from a "blind groping" by undertaking a revolution in metaphysics as Copernicus has brought to cosmology. Kant's Copernican turn consists in the assertion that the possibility of knowledge requires that "the objects must conform to our cognition." From Kant's view, we can know only what we "construct," "make," or "produce" as a necessary condition of knowledge, but we cannot know the mind--independent external world, i.e., the world which is independent of us. Kant's epistemological constructivism is the central point to his Copernican revolution.展开更多

This paper intends to explore the formation and material basis of Zhang Heng's scientific thought. It appears that the simple intention of "observing visions and distinguishing good fortune or misfortune"was his motivation to develop the seismoscope. Tracing its historical background, the authors proposed in this paper that the development of this seismoscope started around 128 A. D., and based on perceptual knowledge, two ideas about earthquakes came into being,i. e.,earthquake location could be judged according to the instrument shaking direction, and the earthquake and earth split were essentially different. In the instrument manufacture,Zhang Heng advocated a principle of "making utensils to imitate cosmos". By this principle, the following three problems were readily solved: the seismoscope imitated the response of the suspension system to earthquakes( i. e. natural seismoscope). Technically, the trigger mechanism of the latch was used for reference, and it recorded the physical evidence of earthquake occurrence by an ingenious way of a ball dropping from a dragon's mouth. The solution of these three key problems lead to the emergence of the seismoscope in 132 A. D. and the successful detection of an earthquake in 134 A. D. His invention deepened humanity's knowledge of natural laws, and promoted the development of science and technology in that time and later.展开更多
