Unlike historical cinematic movements, these subgenres are the result of our techocentric culture and commercialism. In this respect these subgenres are less motivated by a collective ideology, but rather a cultural phenomenon resulting from increased access to popular culture, hypermedia devices, social media, and new marketing techniques. This paper investigates the displacement of traditional models of temporality through the metamorphosis of today's audiovisual culture, outlining the subject's embodiment of voyeurism and exhibitionism, ushering in a hyper-real era of self-myth making and consumption.展开更多

It altogether includes 80 poems touching upon several themes such as love, religion, dignity, and life. Yeats is one of the most distinguished Irish poets throughout the world, whose works perfectly embody the incorporation of romanticism, modernism, and occultism. It is noteworthy that in some of his poems, animals are portrayed frequently or even taken as the title of a poem, such as bird, fish, swan and so on. Therefore, this essay attempts to study the meaning of animal images of this poetry anthology in terms of different writing phases of Yeats. Firstly, the author builds the corpus of The Wind Among the Reeds and employs corpus search software Ant Cone to check the number and distribution of the animal image. Next, the author focuses on certain prominent images and investigates them further by analyzing the concordance lines of them. Thirdly, according to the result of distribution information, the author also attaches importance to the phenomenon of image combination in the poetry and then explores its function and effect. To conclude, by exploring the animal image in The WindAmong the Reeds, a deeper understanding of the poetry and the writing style of the poet will be gained on another level. What is more, a more direct and objective data is provided through the method of corpus and its relevant software, thereupon a new research approach is introduced.展开更多

In American Notes (1987), on the surface, the city shows Dickens's eye of observation, revealing the dark side of the city. However, his writing expresses more than what he sees. In this paper, the author sees New York and London not only as realistic accounts of what things look like, but also a true realization of how Dickens feels about himself, and about the country in which he was situated in. In Oliver Twist (2003), a New York prison can be linked to Dickens's London, representing the darkness of the city with the prison cell and its suggestiveness, including punishment, exclusion, and dehumanization. A New York Asylum reveals the dialectic of order and disorder, in a way which alienation brings out the crisis of humanity. This research shows that New York is an extension of London, in a way which the personal crisis is vividly revealed, as the reader can see in Charles Dickens. A Life (2012). Through New York, Dickens is more conscious about his London childhood, as spatial representations of London have their own symbolic meanings展开更多

Cemetery is one of the sites where people could give way to their subjective comprehension of beauty. Analysis of the cemetery planting revealed certain noticeable features that could be ascribed to the forms of folk art. These are various objects with implied specific content or ornamented compositions. The aim of the research was to ascertain and distinguish graves characterised by specific planting features associated with plants, their layouts on graves. Analysis of the research results shows that two options form the peculiarities of grave planting: depiction of specific objects and ornamentation. We think that majority of the ornaments are made with the single purpose of decoration, and do not associate with symbolic meanings. During this research the graves decorated with planted symbolic objects and ornaments were distinguished. This phenomenon becomes more and more popular in cemeteries of Siauliai city in Lithuania.展开更多
