Survey data were collected and analyzed using a structural equation model(SEM).Results: Perceived social support had a significantly positive effect on PA(b = 0.14, p < 0.01) and QoL(b = 0.28, p < 0.001) while decreasing loneliness(b = —0.55, p < 0.001). PA had a significant positive effect on QoL(b = 0.12, p < 0.01), and loneliness had a negative effect on QoL(b = —0.37, p < 0.001). Loneliness mediated the relationship between perceived social support and QoL.Conclusion: The SEM results of the current study support the proposed model that explained the interrelationships among perceived social support, loneliness, PA, and QoL among active older adults in South Korea. These findings suggest the importance of incorporating social support mechanisms for PA interventions in order to enhance QoL. The findings of this study can help create more effective health and physical education programs for the older generations in South Korea to enhance their QoL.展开更多

Currently, people's lives cannot be analyzed using a macro-perspective, marked by partitioning phases, but the various stages we undergo from childhood to the third age are being overlapped and this is reflected with particular relevance in the field of learning, where the notion of lifelong learning is present in our personal, social and professional everyday contexts, in Portugal, the New Opportunities Initiative is building new and innovative education and training pathways, which privilege the autobiographical methods, where adults, from their life stories, are challenged to resort to new ways of valuing their experiences, potentiating the acquisition of new skills, in a logic of personal, social and professional empowerments. This formative/training logic has shown to be the promoter of a growing autonomy from the adults. We will present, here, the qualitative multi-case study we are developing in this area, which is centered on adults'/professionals' autobiographies and focuses on the understanding of adult education, lifelong learning and on the analysis of the mediation figures associated with them.展开更多

Such conceptions can be understood as placing different emphases among three different factors: the child as subservient to parents and ancestors (Child 1), as a young person requiring special protection and having characteristics distinct from adults (Child 2) and as a novice (Child 3). Different social arrangements place relatively different emphases on these three factors in their overall conceptions of childhood. Adopting the distinction between Will and Interest rights (Archard 2002), the paper considers how an emphasis on Child 1, 2 or 3 presupposes and demands a distinctive consideration of children's rights. The argument concludes with a reflection on how children's rights might be construed if the nature of adulthood is problematised alongside that of childhood. In this case, capabilities (as means to enable functionings) may prove a more fruitful concept than rights (as actual or possible existential conditions).展开更多

The application of the design mindset over a broader scope of disciplines such as business and technology results in creative people from overlapping disciplines who are flexible, curious, and imaginative; have a tolerance for ambiguity and provide meaningful frameworks for difficult situations. The design process becomes a secondary skill-set that compliments another primary knowledge/skill base. With this model, business disciplines could apply design thinking to the understanding of fundamental economic drivers and technology/engineering/manufacturing disciplines could apply design thinking over deep process expertise in implementation. What about the work of the traditional design disciplines? Following the model described above for business and technology, design disciplines should apply "design thinking" on top of some foundational skill set that comes from the area of human values. What is this primary skill-set? This paper will attempt to explore and create a simple map of the area defined as "Human Values", to locate current design education within that area, to propose directions for design education to move within that area, and to propose similar educational areas within the fields Business and Technology.展开更多
文摘Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose and test a conceptual model that explains the interrelationships among perceived social support, loneliness, physical activity(PA), and quality of life(QoL) among active older adults in South Korea. Methods: Data were collected from 332 individuals over the age of 65 using a systematic stratified convenience sampling method. The findings of this study can help create more effective health and physical education programs for the older generations in South Korea to enhance their QoL.
