The difference of cumulative scores in Webster's scale was also decreased in correlation analysis. Usually, infanticidal episodes occur soon after group takeovers, and are trad...Infanticide by males is a common phenomenon in mammals, especially primates, as lactation lasts much longer than gestation in many species. Usually, infanticidal episodes occur soon after group takeovers, and are traditionally considered a male reproductive strategy （i.e., support the sexual selection hypothesis, Hrdy, 1974）. To verify the validity of this conception, we observed one group of Franqois＇ langurs in the Nonggang Nature Reserve, China, between August 2003 and July 2004. During the study period, a Francois＇ langur female with the youngest infant in the group was attacked three times by immigrating males, and later disappeared by the third day after the final attack. We suggest that these attacks on the female-infant dyad represent infanticide attempts by males, and may be the cause of the adult female and her infant＇s disappearance. Presumably, that female dispersed with her infant to avoid infanticide and was not killed. Though these observations do not completely verify the sexual selection hypothesis, they are not inconsistent with it.展开更多

The aim of the present study was to provide additional information to the limited existing knowledge concerning the possible differences of the force/time profile of squat jumping among different groups of young female athletes. Methods： One hundred and seventy-three adult women （20.1 ± 2.8 years, 1.71 ± 0.09 m, 65.6 ± 10.3 kg, mean± SD for age, height, and mass, respectively） engaged in track and field （TF）, volleyball （VO）, handball （HA）, basketball （BA）, and physical education students （PE） executed maximal squat jumps （SQJ） on a force plate. Pearson＇s correlation was used to identify the relationship between SQJ performance, the anthropometric characteristics and the biomechanical parameters. Differences concerning the biomechanical parameters among groups were investigated with analysis of variance, while the force- （FPD） or time- （TPD） dependency of SQJ execution was examined using principal components analysis （PCA）. Results： SQJ was unrelated to body height but significantly correlated with body mass （r = -0.26, p = 0.001）. TF jumped higher and produced larger peak body power output compared to all the other groups （p 〈 0.05）. All athletes were superior to PE since they performed the SQJ with a longer （p 〈 0.05） vertical body center of mass trajectory during the propulsion phase. PCA results revealed that TF significantly differentiated than the other groups by relying on FPD. Conclusion： Various different profiles of FPD and TPD were detected due to different sporting background in young female athletes. Since TF superiority in SQJ was relied on the larger power production and a greater FPD, female indoor team sport athletes are suggested to execute jumping exercises adopting the jumping strategies utilized by TE展开更多

Five hundred twenty six subjects were included in this study, 272 were men （52%） and 254 women （48%）. To determine the trend of changes of anthropometric parameters and physical fitness in people aged over 60, the authors were divided subjects in 5 age groups： 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and over 80 years of age. Decrease in strength is observed with the aging process so that the respondents aged 60-64 years significantly differ in the strength of the lower extremities of elderly subjects 70-74 and 75-79 years of age. Also this difference is noticeable if they compare with men and women. In this study, they found that there was an increase in the amount of adipose tissue, reducing the level of muscle activity and decreased muscle strength and endurance of the aging process.展开更多

This study is on design guidelines for the living space with robots and can be applied to the architectural planning and focused on the basic environmental primary factor. The key terms were space, people-adult male and female, positions, and the robot-size, speed-settings and approaching angles. This research is the distances a small mobile robot moves to an adult male compared with that toward an adult female. The authors focus on a small mobile robot and identify the distances from which the robot can approach individuals, and also clarify how the distances to individuals change as the robot＇s speed and angle of approach varies. The results showed that the total effective rate for audition elevation in the treatment group was 52.0%, and that in the control group, 26.1%. In the treatment group, the rheological indexes were improved after treatment, the difference being very significant in comparison with those before treatment (P<0.05 and P<0.01); while in the control group, except the whole blood low shearing specific viscosity, all the other 4 indexes were not statistically significant before and after treatment (P>0.05).展开更多
