To minimize this risk, IPM tools can be applied to reduce the use of chemicals. A cost-effective application of IPM depends on the number of insects at the time of application. Several conditions and factors influence the lifecycle and numbers of generations within a year. In order to perform ex-ante evaluations of the cost-effectiveness of IPM measures against pest insects, the generic PREMISE insect model has been developed, which integrates insect's population dynamics, the climate and other conditions, applied measures, economics, environment and human health (residues). This paper describes these components of the PREMISE insect model, and how these components interact to assess the cost-effectiveness of IPM measures and the effects on the environment and human health. Codling moth is used as a case study for this generic model.展开更多

It becomes partly crucial for the organization to be in the dynamics of the sector and market where it operates and wants its consolidation, because value systems become strategic elemente that play a role as key factors of success in organizations seeking priority intend to increase their organizational performance. Given the above, this research seeks to get to identify strategic uses of information and communication technologies in the processes of the value chain in small commercial businesses in Mexicali, aiming to contribute to the improvement of the competitiveness of the same. It is in this sense that the technologies of information and communication have become a powerful tool that will allow them to be innovative, cost-effective and this will have an impact on the performance of the organization that will allow you to improve your service, interact with customers and suppliers, and above all more efficiently meet their own needs and organizational expectations. This research was exploratory and within the relevant findings, coming to the conclusion that it is necessary to focus more emphatically on the client; organizations have deficiencies in relation to the strategic use of ICTs to streamline their billing, manufacturing, distribution, and storage of your products, activities highlighting this if they don't have a reconsideration in this aspect, at the risk of offset in terms of its competitors which would mean ceasing to be option on the market, stressing that this not only will be a trigger factor in mature companies, but those who need to improve their service and that they will serve as input for the conduction of processes along the value chain. The research is exploratory in nature, as evidenced in the use of the ICTs focused on the man~,gement of the value chain and its relationship with different variables of such management, making that they are discovered behaviors on the structure of the value chain able to generate sustainable benefits and contribute to the improvement of the competitive position of the companies involved in this study.展开更多

The evaluation included 189 overtaking lanes, 404 km of road widening and shoulder sealing in various places between Brisbane and Cairns, 56 capacity focused projects and 16 flood immunity focused projects. The total projected capital costs of all projects proposed as part of the BHAP amounted to over 16 billion dollars. The program evaluation conducted, due to the short timeframes, lack of available data and strategic nature of the plan, has been "coined" a strategic evaluation. This paper focuses on the methodology applied to the projects proposed in the BHAP. A TMR designed project/program evaluation model (CARP (Concise Analysis of Road Programs) V1.0) was used to evaluate the majority of the proposed BHAP projects. The model produces streams of discounted benefits and costs of the projects and program using limited and incomplete data. The large scale of work and the close proximity of projects allowed for an integrated approach to the analysis, which considered the impact projects have on each other. The result of the program, if all evaluated projects are included, is a BCR (benefit cost ratio) of approximately 0.7l at a discount rate of 7%. If the less viable projects are removed from the program, the program can obtain a benefit cost ratio of greater than 1 with a sufficiently large number of projects remaining.展开更多

Based on the combustion behaviors of pulverized coal, the conception of coal effective calorific value representing the actual thermal energy provided for blast furnace was proposed. A cost performance evaluation model of coal injection was built up for the optimal selection of various kinds of coal based on effective calorific value. The model contains two indicators: coal effective calorific value which has eight sub-indicators and coal injection cost which includes four sub-indicators. In addition, the calculation principle and application of cost performance evaluation model in a Chinese large-scale iron and steel company were comprehensively introduced. The evaluation results finally confirm that this novel model is of great significance to the optimal selection of blast furnace pulverized coal.展开更多

These buildings, in which energy efficient approach has been disregarded for years, cause to gradually increase on heating and cooling energy consumptions. In regards to national economics, it is essential to evaluate energy efficiency and to develop suggestions to decrease energy consumptions in residential buildings. To achieve appropriate solutions, cost evaluation also becomes necessary. Therefore, this paper aims to introduce a study which serves the purpose of producing a choice of energy efficient solutions in order to reduce energy consumptions and energy cost. In this study, different heating and cooling energy efficient scenarios have been developed for a selected residential building, constructed by TOKI, for climatic zones of Turkey. For each scenario, energy simulations have been executed by means of the simulation program--DesignBuilder, the user-friendly visual interface of EnergyPlus, and cost analysis has been carried out by using the net present value and discounted payback period method. As a result, energy and cost effective solutions have been presented and discussed for different climatic zones.展开更多

This paper introduces the meaning and calculation method of EVA, focused on the analysis of the advantages of EVA performance evaluation, and also points out some limitations of EVA, in the hope that after the practice can improve continuously.展开更多
