With studies abroad and our preliminary investigation as base, this study developed a scale to test the factors SRL includes. According to the result of 905 teachers working in elementary school by exploratory factor analysis, the SRL for elementary teachers is consisted of its sociality (it included selecting leads and seeking for instructing), its motivation(it included self-improvement and self-excelling), its methods(it included strategy use and habitual behavior), and its outcomes(it included extensive reading and teachers' professional development). All the result indicated Teachers' SRL Scale had clear factor structure, good reliability and validity. It can be used to test the current operating situation of SRL for teachers working in elementary school.展开更多

Errors provoke emotions which influence the nurses' professional careers. Little is known about the relationship between nurses' supervisors constructive listening (CL) and the emotional reactions of nurses who committed an error and its relation to patients' safety. Our purpose was to explore the relationship between nurses' perceptions regarding their supervisors' CL and their emotional experiences after committing an error related to patient care. Dependent variables included of guilt, empathy towards the patient, general and professional self-assessment, shame, and Negative and Positive Affect (NA/PA). In this descriptive study, we used a snowball sampling method. Participants were asked to sign an informed-consent form and complete the questionnaire before or after work. No compensation (material or otherwise) was offered to participants. The study was approved by the ethics committee of the academic institution involved. A total of 162 nurses participated: 103 (63.6%) held a registered and 40 (25%) held a managerial role. Seniority had high variability, ranging from 3 months to 45 years (M=1 3.54, SD=0.78). The majority of errors reported (67.7%) concerned the administration of medications. We used Structural Equation Modeling to measure relationships between the main variables (X2(9)=14.52, p=.105, CFI=.911, RMSEA=.062 (90% CI=.00-. 11). The main findings were: a high rating of perceived supervisor's CL led to high state-guilt (β=. 15, p=.04). Next, higher state-guilt led to high PA (β=.18, p=.02) and to high NA (β=.45, p〈.001). High PA led to reporting the error (β=.17, p=.03), whereas high NA led to a high degree of empathy towards the patient (β=.17, p=.03). Our findings show the importance of CL, which led to reporting error and to empathy towards patients, mediated by increased state-guilt and by increased positive and negative effect. Supervisor nurses should use CL to create an atmosphere of trust which fosters the reporting of errors and improves patients' safety.展开更多

Nursing students' protection consciousness is low, and protective ability is poor. Conclusion: Nursing students awareness of self- protection to sharp instrument injury is not enough,in order to avoid the risk of infection of nursing students occupation. When they entered the clinics, practice of systematic pre occupation safety education is very necessary;and the school and the hospital should actively implement the management standardized operation regulations;and put up student occupation injury management regulations;to improve the safety performance of nursing equipment.展开更多

It facilitates the evolution of dense and diversified microbial communities that are highly active and persistent throughout life span. Here, we stimulate this unique biosystem to develop high-efficient continuous bio-manufacturing processes. The pig small intestine was explored as a novel bioreactor with industrial Saccharornyces cerevisiae for biofuel production. Results showed that the small intestine was a beneficial material for cell adherence. The cells on the intestine exhibited the abilities of self- immobilization, self-duplication and self-repairing. Therefore the intestine-based S. cerevisiae could be continu- ously used for a long time at high metabolic activities. Both the fermentation speed and ethanol yield were im- proved. This study provides valuable insights into the functions of intestine-based biosystem and should inspire the development of bionic industrial processes. Future dissection of the interface mechanism and design of more bionic materials will make bioprocesses more economically favorable and environmentally sustainable.展开更多

Based on the current language skill learning situations and the relevant literature review, this paper firstly forms a hypothesis, introducing self-assessment into the traditional classroom to promote learner freedom, and then does an empirical study to prove that self-assessment can be mastered as a learning skill to enhance students' learning efficiency.展开更多

Among in-service Business English teachers, some of them have transferred from teaching English for General Purposes. Business English teachers face many changes and challenges to their professional identity, yet few scholars have looked into the identity construction of these teachers. Using critical narrative as a method, this paper closely examines the identity construction experiences of the first author and two other Business English teachers. It is found that the participants, including the first author himself, have endured identity negotiations and various challenges in turning from a teacher of English for General Purposes to a teacher of Business English. These teachers' experiences and their perception of identity construction and professional development throw light on the changing pedagogy and practice of Business English in Chinese universities.展开更多
