Laser cladding of 316 L steel powders on pick substrate of coal mining machine was conducted, and microstructure of laser cladding coating was analyzed. The micro-hardness of laser cladding coating was examined. The results show that microstructure of laser cladding zone is exiguous dentrite, and there are hard spots dispersible distribution in the laser cladding zone. Performances of erode-resistant, surface micro-hardness and wear-resistant are improved obviously. 展开更多

A new modified formulation of the Additivity Rule (AR) was proposed to calculate the total electron scattering cross sections for CH4, CO2, NO2, and N2O, considering the overlapping between atoms in molecules and the not fully transparency of the molecules. The present calculation covers the range of impact energy from 10 to 3000 eV. The results are compared with experimental data and other theories where available. The atoms are presented by spherical complex optical potential, which is composed of static, exchange, polarization, and absorption terms. 展开更多

Optical limiting (OL) properties and two-photon absorption (TPA) of a series of covalently linked graphene oxide-porphyrin composite materials have been investigated by numerically solving the rate equations and field intensity equation with an iterative predictor-corrector finite-difference time-domain technique in nanosecond time domain. Our results show that graphene oxide-porphyrin composites exhibit enhanced OL behavior and possess larger TPA cross section compared with individual porphyrins. Interestingly~ unlike the previous result that porphyrin with heavier central metal shows better nonlinear abilities than that with- out metal substitute, graphene oxide-metal free porphyrin composite has stronger nonlinear absorption properties compared with graphene oxide-metal porphyrin composite. The com- putational results are in reasonable agreement with the experimental ones. Special attention has been paid to the influence of thickness of the medium and pulse width on TPA cross sections, which presents that larger TPA cross sections are obtained as the medium is thicker or the pulse duration is wider. 展开更多

In the present work,the optical properties of a GaAs quantum wire with equilateral triangle cross section are studied.For this purpose,we use analytical expressions for optical properties obtained by the compact-density matrix formalism.Here,we investigate the intersubband optical absorption coefficients and refractive index changes as a function of the triangle side(L) and the incident optical intensity(I).According to the obtained results,it is found that:(i) The total refractive index changes increase and shift towards lower energies when the triangle side increases.(ii) The total absorption coefficient decreases as the triangle side increases.Also,the resonance peak shifts towards lower energies by increasing the triangle side. 展开更多

Ho3+ with various concentrations and Tm3+ with molar concentration of 1.28% are co-doped in Li YF4(YLF) single crystals. The luminescent properties of the crystals are investigated through emission spectra, emission cross section and decay curves under the excitation of 808 nm. The energy transfer from Tm3+ to Ho3+ and the optimum fluorescence emission of Ho3+ around 2.05 μm are investigated. The emission intensity at 2.05 μm keeps increasing with the molar concentration of Ho3+ improved from 0.50% to 1.51% when the molar concentration of Tm3+ is kept at 1.28%. Moreover, for the co-doped crystals in which the molar concentrations of Tm3+ and Ho3+ are 1.28% and 1.51%, respectively, the maximum emission cross section reaches 0.760×10–20 cm2 and the maximum fluorescence lifetime is 21.98 ms. All the parameters suggest that these materials have more advantages in the future 2.0 μm laser applications. 展开更多

Missed or neglected foreign bodies are not infrequent in surgical practice. This case report high- lights the fact that thorough clinical examination and de- tailed evaluation of trauma patients are very necessary so that any associated injuries or foreign bodies will not be missed and any unforeseen clinical or medico-legal complications can be prevented. We present a case of a 35-year- old male patient who had traumatic transfemoral amputation of the right lower limb with a clean laceration (size 2 cmx I cm) over the medial aspect of the left thigh. Radiographs suggested a single radioopaque foreign body which proved misleading, as during surgical removal multiple radiolucent and radiopaque foreign bodies were discovered.Postoperative ultrasound was performed and showed no retained foreign bodies. A secondary closure of the right thigh amputation was done and patient was discharged. At the last follow-up, 9 months after injury, the patient had no complaints, and both the amputation stump and the wound over the left thigh were healthy. Thus in the cases of re- tained foreign bodies, in addition to thorough clinical examination and radiography, ultrasonograpy should be supplemented. And if required, use of CT scan as well as MRI should be also considered. 展开更多

The band characteristics of two-dimensional(2D) lead lanthanum zirconate titanate(PLZT) photonic crystals are analyzed by finite element method.The electro-optic effect of PLZT can cause the refractive index change when it is imposed by the applied electric field,and the band structure of 2D photonic crystals based on PLZT varies accordingly.The effect of the applied electric field on the structural characteristics of the first and second band gaps in 2D PLZT photonic crystals is analyzed in detail.And the results show that for each band gap,the variations of start wavelength,cut-off wavelength and bandwidth are proportional to quadratic of the electric field. 展开更多

Tm^(3+) doped Na_5Lu_9F_(32) single crystal with high optical quality was grown by an improved Bridgman method. The Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters ?_t(t=2, 4, 6) were calculated according to the measured absorption spectra and physical-chemical properties of the obtained Na_5Lu_9F_(32) single crystal. The stimulated emission cross-section of the ~3F_4→~3H_6 transition(~1.8 μm) is 0.35×10^(-20) cm^2 for Tm^(3+) doped Na_5Lu_9F_(32) single crystal. The emission spectra under the excitation of 790 nm laser diode(LD) and fluorescence lifetime at 1.8 μm were measured to reveal the fluorescence properties of Tm^(3+) doped Na_5Lu_9F_(32) single crystal. The research results show that the Tm^(3+) doped Na_5Lu_9F_(32) single crystal has larger stimulated emission cross-section compared with other crystals. All these spectral properties suggest that this kind of Tm^(3+)doped Na_5Lu_9F_(32) crystal with high physical-chemical stability and high-efficiency emission at 1.8 μm may be used as potential laser materials for optical devices. 展开更多
