In the experimental range, the boiling heat transfer coefficients of R134a on a T-MPPS tube were 1.8-2.0 times larger than those of R134a on a plain tube. The relati...Laboratory tests were carried out in order to evaluate the efficacy of five inert dust (Puliangtai, G-1, G-2, G-3 and G-4) against the high level phosphine resistance Cryptolestesferrugineus (Stephens). The relative phosphine resistance of two strains of Cryptolestesferrugineus (Stephens) was measured by the method of knockdown at 2 mg/L of phosphine. The insects were exposed to the five inert dust on filter paper inside petri dishes for 1 day at 30 ±1℃and 65 ±1% relative humidity. Then, the adults were held for 4 days with food at the same conditions without inert dust in surface bioassay. Also, they were placed in 25 ±1℃ and 65 ±1% relative humidity in grain bioassay. In surface bioassay, two strains (JXCF and YYCF) ofCryptolestesferrugineus (Stephens) were susceptible to the five inert dust at 0.08 g/m2 and 0.1 g/m2. G-3 appeared the most effective treatment against both strains, since its efficacy was 3-6 times higher than the other four inert dust tested. YYCF strain was more susceptible than JXCF, with 1-4 times higher mortality level. This research indicated that inert dusts were effective on phosphine-resistance Cryptolestesferrugineus (Stephens) populations.展开更多

Recent and constant demands for greater power densities and smaller sizes of electronic systems have stimulated the growth of new designs of different passive heat transfer methods such as heat pipes. Particularly, OH...Recent and constant demands for greater power densities and smaller sizes of electronic systems have stimulated the growth of new designs of different passive heat transfer methods such as heat pipes. Particularly, OHPs (Oscillating Heat Pipes) are relatively novel devices, capable of removing high heat rates over long and short distances with not much temperature drop. This study concentrates on the design, building and assembling a test rig in order to analyse the flow pattern ofdeionised water through a 5 turns flat plate oscillating heat pipe under different heat inputs, which was made in the school of engineering and materials science of the Queen Mary University of London by two energy M.Sc. students. The filling ratio of the water is 40%. Furthermore an experimental study on the OHP thermal performance is carried out in order to examine the effects of different surface wet conditions: super hydrophilic, hydrophilic and cleaned brass. It is demonstrated the formation of liquid slugs and vapour plugs of the water along the channels. The experimental results showed that the hydrophilic surface tends to be more energy efficient. The heat transfer performance of the super-hydrophilic and hydrophilic is higher than brass by 5-12% and 15-20% respectively.展开更多

Due to the unique shape of the hollow space of FNTs, novel types of low-dimens...A fully flattened carbon nanotube (FNT), a graphene nanoribbon (GNR) analogue, provides a hollow space at edges for endohedral doping. Due to the unique shape of the hollow space of FNTs, novel types of low-dimensional arrangements of atoms and molecules can be obtained through endohedral doping into FNTs, which provides a new type of nanopeapods. FNT-based nanopeapods have been synthesized through endohedral doping of C60, and their structural characterization with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) performed. The doping of C60 into the inner hollow space of FNTs has been carried out via the gas-phase filling method, where open-ended FNTs are sealed in a glass ampoule and heated at 723-773 K for two days. TEM observations show that most of the encapsulated C60 molecules align as single molecular chains along the edges of FNTs and that some of the C60 forms two-dimensional close-packed structures inside FNTs.展开更多
