Monthly averaged wind stress and the inflow/outflow transports in January w...In this work, Princeton Ocean Model (POM) was used to study the formation of the South China Sea Warm Current (SCSWC) in the barotropic case. Monthly averaged wind stress and the inflow/outflow transports in January were used in the numerical simulation which reproduced the SCSWC. The effects of wind stress and inflow/outflow were studied separately. Numerical experiments showed that the Kuroshio intrusion through the Luzon Strait and the slope shelf in the northern SCS are necessary conditions for the formation of the SCSWC. In a flat bottom topography experiment, the wind stress driven northeast current in the northern SCS is a compensatory current.展开更多

The dynamical evolution of the concurrence, which measures the degree of the entanglement between the two qubits, is plotted versus the scaled time gt. It is found that the two qubits can be entangled by the coherent state field even when they are initially prepared in the most mixed state, and for very weak field, the most mixed state can be; more easily entangled than some pure states. It is also found that the entanglement between the qubits sensitively depends on the relative difference of the atomic couplings and the mean photon number of the field.展开更多

The exact invariants in the form of generalized Hojman conserved quantities led by the Lie symmetries of relativistic Birkhoffian system without perturbations are given. Based on the definition of higher-order adiabatic invariants of a mechanical system, the perturbation of Lie symmetries for relativistic Birkhoffian system with the action of small disturbance is investigated, and a new type of adiabatic invariants of the system is obtained. The inertial surface is composed of thin but uniform distribution of non-interacting material. In the mathematical analysis, the Fourier and Laplace transform techniques have been utilized to obtain the depressions of the inertial surface and the interface in the form of infinite integrals. For initial disturbances concentrated at a point, the inertial surface depression and the interface depression are evaluated asymptotically for large time and distance by using the method of stationary phase. They are also depicted graphically for two types of initial disturbances and appropriate conclusions are made.展开更多

Correspondingly, there are two types of gauge transformation related with these two definitions. The passive approach is based on the property of general covariance, and the active one is through the action of Lie-derivative. Although under a proper coordinate choice, the two approaches seem to agree with each other, they are different in nature. The geometrical definition of relativistic perturbation and the active approach for gauge transformation are more rigorous in mathematics and less confusing in physical explanation. The direct definition, however, seems to be plagued with difficulties in physical meaning, and the passive approach is more awkward to use, especially for high-order gauge transformations.展开更多

The four schemes are compared in terms of prediction of fundamental transitions, and simulation of the corresponding medium infrared spectrum at the same level of theory using the B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) description of the electronic structure. We summarize conclusions about advantages and drawbacks of these two approaches and report the main results obtained for semi-rigid and flexible molecules.展开更多

Using the spatial and temporal correlation of a geometrical one-ring model, a close-formed expression of intercarrier interference due to the Doppler effect caused by the movement of receiver is derived under the isotropic scattering conditions and non-isotropic scattering conditions. The analytical results are verified by Monte Carlo simulations. We use the generated channels to investigate MIMO-OFDM intercarrier interference under various channel parameters. It can be shown that more than 95% oflCI power comes from five neighboring subcarriers.展开更多

To resolve this issue, using five parallel-wire conductance probes, time records of local liquid film thickness at five circumferential positions were collected. The characteristics of circumferential liquid film thickness profiles and its variation with gas and liquid velocities were obtained. The basic features of probability distribution function, probability density function, auto-correlation, cross-correlation and power spectrum density function of the disturbance waves in angular flow were studied respectively.
