WB-DWl and ECT was ... Objective: We evaluated (Whole-Body Diffusion Weighted Imaging, WB-DWl) application in bone metastasis. Methods: WB-DWI with GE 1.5T MR/I was performed on 10 healthy volunteers and 35 patients. WB-DWl and ECT was performed in all 35 patients. Using WB-DWl for detecting bone metastasis and compared them with that of ECT. Results: Background was suppressed in WB-DWl, fat, muscle, vessels and liver appeared same as background. Skeleton showed medium or slightly lower signal. Lymph nodes, some glandular organs, kidneys displayed medium signal. Spleen, testicle, brain tissue were low signal. Bladder, gallbladder were depicted as low signal because of "T2 through". Bone metastasis were multitude and inequality of size, punctiform, nodosity, column low intensity. Concordance between WB-DWI and ECT was seen in 4 cases. WB-DWl displayed 1 bone metastasis on skull, 46 on rib and sternum, 3 on scapula, 4 on extremities, 83 on vertebral, 36 on pelvic bone. ECT showed 2 bone metastasis on skull, 62 on rib and sternum, 7 on scapula, 9 on extremities, 64 on vertebral, 19 on pelvic bone. WB-DWl was 74% for bone metastasis on rib and sternum, ECT was 77%, 53% for vertebral and pelvic bone. All of the focus were statistics analyses, P 〈 0.05. Total probability distribution inequality if metastasis on different positions. Conclusion: WB-DWI was an effective imaging technology for screening bone metastasis. 展开更多

The Technological Gap between China and World Frontiers at the Industrial Level:1985-2009

From a temporal dimension, variations in the technological gaps of China's industrial sectors can be divided into the following four stages: slight abatement of technological gaps between 1985 and 1992, and between 1999 and 2007; stagnation in the variation of technological gaps between 1994 and 1999; and continuous abatement of technological gaps between 2008 and 2009. From the industry dimension, by 2009, 58.8% of China's industrial sectors had gradually reached or approached the world frontiers of technology; 29.4% of industrial sectors had experienced technological improvements but still lagged far behind the world frontiers of technology; 11.8% of industrial sectors significantly lagged behind the world frontiers of technology. 展开更多

Social media has become an inevitable part of our lives in the age of network society. People establish multiple identities for themselves, with or without references to the real world, and behave according to those identities. Self-made components of virtual presence are not limited to identities only; many users also create hyper-personalities for themselves with the help of new technologies. Then, the fundamental question becomes: Why do people create self-made identities and hyper-personalities to portray or hide themselves in social media environments? The answer to this question has certain connections and implications for behaviors of social media users. Therefore, researchers have investigated why some people find social media attractive and attend whenever possible, while others are afraid of social media and hesitate to attend. Positive and negative behaviors of social media users can be classified as braggadocian and preventative. Braggadocian behaviors are related to courageously taking advantage of social media, whereas preventative behaviors are concerned with avoidance of social media. The dominant behavioral pattern of a user depends on what one can achieve through attending or preventing social media. This paper first discusses basic elements of human behavior that drive social media such as altruism, hedonism, connectionism, homophily, multiple identities, memetics, narcissism, and tribalism. Then, it focuses on precautionary elements of human behavior such as avoidance, escape, blocking, fear, hiding, removal, and protectionism. Whether they are attentive or not, one thing is clear: People refrain or enrich their own lives in social media rather than being abused or watching others in industrial media. 展开更多

Food technology has been instrumental in ensuring that troops remain "fit to fight". Early food technologies produced flat bread, hard biscuits, cheese and salted meat, allowing Roman legionaries to carry rations for several days. Canning was invented in the late 18th century in response to the French Government's offer of a substantial reward to the person whose invention would allow troops to carry their food when marching long distances. World War II saw further advances in the form of stable and palatable canned meals, compressed cereal bars, candy-coated peanuts and other innovative foods in US combat rations. Two significant technology breakthroughs in the second half of the 20th century have altered the form of military rations. Freeze drying matured as an industrial technology, allowing the production of long-life, light-weight rations. Flexible packaging, based on plastic laminates, led to reduced weight and less waste disposal through the development of retort pouched meals (meals in flexible packaging that have undergone heat sterilization), which have largely replaced metal cans in combat rations. Improvements in quality of military rations, particularly their organoleptic properties, are emerging through application of innovative technologies such as high-pressure thermal processing, pulsed electric field, and microwave assisted thermal sterilization. Research and development of "functional foods", such as those containing added essential fatty acids or probiotics offers the potential to provide combat rations that can further improve soldier health and performance. 展开更多

The paper attempts to answer the following key question: how will a city′s world rank change in the face of crisis in its main economic sector? Crisis is defined here as a decline in financial performance in the given sector, which leads to the decline of its constituent firms and corporations on the world economic scene. The World Economic Center Index(WECI) has been created in order to rank cities based on the value of their resident corporations by sector and show their level of stability upon the removal of the most important sector. This provides information on the potential of each analyzed city as well as on its advanced features or area of specialization. Research has shown that nearly half the World Economic Centers are dominated by the financial and materials sectors of the economy. Different sectors dominate different regions of the world. For example, consumer staples and materials were dominant in North America, while information technology and financials were dominant in Europe. In Asia, several sectors tend to dominate the economy. Research has shown that the ability of a principal economic sector to resist economic crisis largely depends on the strength of the command and control function of a city. Finally, a high globalization level of a city is a key determinant of its susceptibility to economic crisis. 展开更多
