Calculations have shown a generalized thinning and withdrawal, which greatly contributes to the increase in sea level attributed to the ice melt from non-polar glaciers. However, these icefields are surrounded by many small icecaps, which have'yet to be studied in detail. A precise estimation of the volume of ice located in these mountain chains could provide new information with respect to this area's exact contribution to the increase in sea level. Thus, this study presents an inventory of relatively small Northern Patagonian glaciers in the surrounding of the three summits: Mount Queulat, and the Maca and Hudson volcanoes. The study used remote sensing techniques in a GIS environment to determine the margins, surface areas, thickness changes and hypsometry for the glaciated zones. Landsat images from different dates were analyzed using standard band ratio and screen delineation techniques. Additionally, digital elevation models from different dates were compared using map algebra, calculating thickness changes. Based on the results, we propose that there are important volumetric changes in the glaciers studied, whichcould be explained by precipitation trends in a general context, and an influence of the glaciers' sizes in some local response. Therefore, we suggest the exact contribution of the Patagonia to the increase in sea level corresponds to a regional pattern rather than just the behavior of a single ice field.展开更多

The method comes with less or no side effects, comparing the western medicine chemicals. With the new computer information technologies, the ancient Chinese healing tool could be very convenient for people to take care of themselves at home or work. In this paper, the authors present their online database system for locating the acupressure points. A case study shows the details of the design and structure of the online system.展开更多

From the perspective of LBS, it is one of the main tasks of matching 3-dimensional spatial-temporal trajectories. We present an interpoiation based Modified Hausdorff Distance algorithm for 3-dimensional spatial-temporal Trajectory Matching (IMHD-ST). It adopts interpolation algorithm to shield the impact to the distance between trajectories due to different position updating porices, sampling granularity, initial position and so on in Moving Object Database (MOD). Besides, it uses MHD to deal with the implicit spatial information and structural information of weighted position updating points in various trajectories and reflects the discrepancy of moving results through the spatial distance between trajectories. In addition, it adopts temporal distance corresponding to the spatial distance between trajectories to reflect the differences including direction, speed and so on during moving process. The experimental results show that the algorithrn can reflect the trajectory similarity between 3-dimensional mobile objects more correctly, accurately and robustly.展开更多

Social networks have increased their public influence, which contain videotaped speeches and presentations. Multimodality has become a characteristic feature of contemporary political virtual communication. Bulgarian politicians appreciate the Internet as a tool for building popularity in its wealth of features, forms, and modes. Communicative tools and techniques have changed. The forms of the Bulgarian political communication found in the virtual environment such as sites, blogs, social networks, video clips, virtual forums, etc. are heterogeneous. Bulgarian citizens accept the Internet as a tool for increased political and social activities. Civil oratory, which is seen as a mechanism for efficient organizing of public events during election campaigns, protests, and demonstrations, is also present in the social networks. The citizens use a combination of verbal and visual elements; they are bloggers and participants in virtual political forums and actively participate in the spread of all kinds of forms of the social networks. They take part in the street demonstrations and organize performances; they ridicule politicians through posters and cartoons published online. Verbal and visual messages of the citizens come to real life during the protests and to virtual life in the social networks. The polyphony of social networks is a manifestation of virtual civil communication where the citizens in their virtual projection as netizens build up a new complex model of communication.展开更多
