The presented iterative multiuser detection technique was based on joint deregularized and box-constrained solution to quadratic optimization with iterations similar to that used in the nonstationary Tikhonov iterated algorithm.The deregularization maximized the energy of the solution,which was opposite to the Tikhonov regularization where the energy was minimized.However,combined with box-constraints,the deregularization forced the solution to be close to the binary set.It further exploited the box-constrained dichotomous coordinate descent algorithm and adapted it to the nonstationary iterative Tikhonov regularization to present an efficient detector.As a result,the worst-case and average complexity are reduced down as K2.8 and K2.5 floating point operation per second,respectively.The development improves the "efficient frontier" in multiuser detection,which is illustrated by simulation results.In addition,most operations in the detector are additions and bit-shifts.This makes the proposed technique attractive for fixed-point hardware implementation. 展开更多

Biogas upgrading for removing CO2 and other trace components from raw biogas is a necessary step before the biogas to be used as a vehicle fuel or supplied to the natural gas grid. In this work, three technologies for biogas upgrading, i.e., pressured water scrubbing(PWS), monoethanolamine aqueous scrubbing(MAS) and ionic liquid scrubbing(ILS), are studied and assessed in terms of their energy consumption and environmental impacts with the process simulation and green degree method. A non-random-two-liquid and Henry's law property method for a CO2 separation system with ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide([bmim][Tf2N]) is established and verified with experimental data. The assessment results indicate that the specific energy consumption of ILS and PWS is almost the same and much less than that of MAS. High purity CO2 product can be obtained by MAS and ILS methods, whereas no pure CO2 is recovered with the PWS. For the environmental aspect, ILS has the highest green degree production value, while MAS and PWS produce serious environmental impacts. 展开更多

On the basis of the existing equipment, the throughput of this unit has been increased to 800 kt/a from 500 kt/a, with the total liquid yield reaching 88.66%. In this context, fashion marketing emerges as an integrative marketing application with its both technical and social aspects by taking potential customers center that symbolize rapid change and creativity of fashion products. In this study, QFD-House of Brand was designed with Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach. In this context, the experts (focus group) in Fashion Industry evaluated the selected fashion brand and its selected products by prioritizing the criteria. These evaluations were used in QFD-House of Brand. Thus, technical and social aspects of fashion industry were analysed together. By this technique, QFD-House of Brand established in relation to products and brand was interpreted and optimization suggestions were presented in accordance with the findings of the research. The use of CO2-free energy sources for running SOEC (solid-oxide electrolysis cell) technologies has a great potential to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions compared to fossil fuel based technologies for hydrogen production. The operation of the electrolysis cell at higher temperature offers the benefit of increasing the efficiency of the process. The range of the operating temperature of the SOEC is typically between 800 ~C and 1,000 ~C. Main sources of degradation that affect the SOEC stack lifetime is related to the high operating temperature. To increase the electrolyser durability, one possible solution is to decrease the operating temperature down to 650 ~C, which represents the typical operating range of the ITSE (intermediate temperature steam electrolysis). This paper is related to the work of the JU-FCH project ADEL, which investigates different carbon-free energy sources with respect to potential coupling schemes to ITSE. A predominant focus of the analysis is put on solar concentrating energy systems (solar tower) and nuclear energy as energy sources to provide the required electricity and heat for the ITSE. This study will present an overview of the main considerations, the boundary conditions and the results concerning the development of coupling schemes of the energy conversion technologies to the electrolyser. 展开更多

The increase of waste production, joined to the difficulties concerning both the identification of new disposal sites and the construction of big conventional incinerators, led in recent years to the development of new technologies for waste management such as gasification and melting treatments. The possibility to introduce in the Italian context the DMS (direct melting system) technology, designed and manufactured by Nippon Steel Engineering Co. Ltd., has been taken into account for the scope of proposed work. DMS technology consists in MSW gasification, slags melting and combustion of the syngas produced, with the consequent generation of electric energy through a steam cycle. The system minimizes environmental impact, thanks to an effective recycling of useful resources such as inert melted slags and metals, featuring high flexibility in terms of treatment capacity due to its modular design. The aim of this article is to consider different plant configurations in order to optimize the energy recovery downstream the DMS module. As a case study, landfill gas exploitation integrated in the DMS plant will be considered as a typical situation that could occur in the Italian scenario. The energetic input provided by the biogas allows improving the thermo-economic performances according to market incentives. 展开更多
