[Method] Crude anti- allergic active extracts of citrus peels were extracted. Effects of extraction conditions including extraction temperature, ethanol concentration, extraction time and liquid-to-solid ratio on extraction were explored with single-factor experiment, and the extrac- tion process was optimized with orthogonal experiment. [Result] Based on the single- factor experiment and orthogonal experiment, the optimal extraction condition for crude anti-allergic active extracts of citrus peels were determined to be under extraction temperature of 60℃, ethanol concentration of 70%, extraction time of 60 min, liquid-to-solid ratio of 1:25 and twice extraction. [Concluslon] This process condition is of simple operation and high extraction efficiency, which is environment-friendly and suitable for the extraction of crude anti-allergic active extracts from citrus peels. This study provided a new approach and research ideas for the effective and rapid extraction of anti-allergic active ingredient in citrus peels.展开更多

[Method] Twenty agronomic traits related to lodging resistance of plateau japonica rice were analyzed by principal component analysis and correlation analysis among 26 varieties/lines of plateau japonica rice. [Result] The lodging resistance of the 26 varieties/lines had great dif-ference among different agronomic traits. Plant height, and wal thickness of the 4th, 3rd and 2nd internodes under the panicle had the most important influence on lodging resistance, while the diameter of the 3rd, 2nd, 4th, 1st nodes under the panicle, length of the 4th and 3rd internodes under the panicle, wal thickness of the 1st internode under the panicle had less influence. The other nine agronomic traits of rice culm did not affect or indirectly affected lodging resistance through above-mentioned agro-nomic traits. Lodging resistance had significant correlations with plant height, length of the 4th and 3rd internodes under the panicle, wal thickness of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th internodes under the panicle and diameter of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th node sunder the panicle, had insignificant correlations with panicle length, panicle weight, length of the 1st and 2nd internodes under the panicle, diameter of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th internodes under the panicle, diameter of the 5th node under the panicle. [Conclu-sion] More attention should be paid to the main factors affecting lodging resistance in breeding to improve lodging resistance of plateau japonica rice.展开更多

Antioxidant activity was evaluated through 2,2-diphenyl-l-picryl...This study was designed to evaluate antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of the essential oil and methanol extract from Mentha longifolia L. hudson. Antioxidant activity was evaluated through 2,2-diphenyl-l-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and β-carotene/linoleic acid assay. The essential oil and methanol extract were individually tested [disc-diffusion assay and evaluating minimum inhibition concentration (MIC)] against a number of bacteria. The essential oil showed strong antimicrobial activity against bacteria tested whereas the methanol extract almost remained inactive. In contrast, the extract showed much better activity than the essential oil in antioxidant activity assays employed, e.g. in the inhibition of free radical DPPH and β-carotene/linolcic acid systems. In the former, the extract was able to reduce the stable free radical DPPH with an IC50 of 55.3μg/mL while that of the oils were 10,630μg/mL. When compared to BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), a synthetic antioxidant, both showed weaker antioxidative potential. Similarly, in β-carotene/linoleic acid assay, these samples were not effectively able to inhibit the linoleic acid oxidation; exhibiting only 24% and 36% inhibitions at 2 mg/mL, respectively; both were far below than that of BHT. Total phenolic constituent of the extract was approximately 4.5 g/100 g as gallic acid equivalent. Gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) analysis of the oil resulted in the identification of 45 constituents, ei^-piperitone epoxide, pulegone and piperitenone oxide being the main components. The results indicate that essential oil and extract ofM. longifolia L. hudson may be used as natural preservative in food against the agents of foodborne diseases and food spoilage.展开更多

Aqueous and methanol G. latifolium extracts were tested against thirteen pathogenic bacterial isolates. Crude protein, lipid extract, ash, crude fibre and nitrogen flee extractives obtained are: 27.2%, 6.07%, 11.6%, 10.8% and 44.3% dry matter respectively. Potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphorus and cobalt contents are 332, 110, 115, 125 and 116 mg/kg respectively. Dominant essential amino acids are leucine, valine and phenylalanine. Aspartic acid, glutamic acid and glycine are 13.8%, 11,9% and 10.3% respectively of total amino acid. Saturated and unsaturated fatty acids are 50.2% and 39.4% of the oil respectively. Palmitic acid makes up 36% of the total fatty acid. Extracts show no activity against E. faecalis, Y. enterolytica, E. aerogenes, B. cereus and E. agglomerans. Methanol extracts were active against S, enteritidis, S. cholerasius ser typhimurium and P. aeruginosa (minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) 1 mg; zone of growth inhibition 7, 6.5 and 7 mm respectively). Aqueous extracts show activity against E. coli (MIC 5 mg) and P. aeruginosa (MIC 1 mg) while methanol extracts are active against P. aeruginosa and L. monocytogenes. Better compliance can be obtained by reducing the number of tablets and times of administration.Given that the 5-ASA formulations have different delivery systems that split the active moiety in various regions of the intestine,it is particularly important that an adequate dose of the drug arrives at the inflamed part of the colon.5-ASA Multi matrix(MMx)is a novel,high strength(1.2 g),oral formulation designed for oncedaily dosing.It releases the active moiety throughout the colon.Different studies with this compound have shown that it is as effective as 5-ASA enema in the treatment of mild-to-moderate,left-sided UC,and is comparable to a pH-dependent,delayed release 5-ASA (Asacol ),even if given once daily.Recently,the effectiveness in the acute phase of UC has been confirmed also in maintenance.In conclusion,at present,5-ASA MMx seems theoretically the best agent for maintaining patient compliance,and consequently,treatment effectiveness.展开更多

In this research, the anti-inflammatory activities of essential oil and the antibacterial activities of ethanol extraction were determined, respectively. Results showed that based on the GC-MS analysis there were 35 kinds of active ingredients in the essential oil in totally, mainly including D-limonene(24.158 ml/L), α-Pinene(23.325 ml/L), Camphor(9.855 ml/L),Camphene(7.076 ml/L), Verbenone(6.685 ml/L), Borneol(5.580 ml/L), etc. The LCUV determination indicated that the main components in the ethanol extractionwere rosmarinic acid(3 910 mg/kg) and carnosic acid(2 970 mg/kg). By mice peritoneal macrophage phagocytosis of chicken erythrocytes experiment, the essential oil of rosemary was shown having a significant role in anti-inflammation. And the ethanol extraction had broad-spectrum antibacterial effects, but had no effect on mold by the agar diffusion method of 8 bacteria. As a result, both rosemary essential oil and ethanol extraction had good potential medicinal values.展开更多

The rose essential oil...The aim of the present work was to investigate the synergetic effect of microwave and ultrasound treatment on the production, chemical composition and antioxidant activity of rose essential oil. The rose essential oil was extracted from fresh Rosa x damciscena Mill. petals by four methods, hydrodistillation, steam distillation, organic solvent extraction and ultrasounds followed by microwave hydrodistillation. The chemical composition of the extracts was analysed by GC-MS, and the antioxidant capacity by DPPH. It was found that both chemical composition and the antioxidant activity of the extracts depend on the extraction method. Overall it was found that microwaves coupled with ultrasonic treatment can be used effectively for the intensification of the extraction of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes--fragrance bearing molecules--and equally, for increased antioxidant activity while using about 4 time shorter extraction time. The scale-up of the method was also evaluated. The results obtained in this research support the possible use of the US/MW method for the extraction of rose essential oil for the pharmaceutical and fragrance industry.展开更多

The total soluble nitrogen content was greater than 2.1 g/100mL, and the amino nitrogen content was greater than 1.2 g/100mL. The mineral content was abundant in the Pneumatophorus japonicus sauce, the calcium content and the magnesium content were 391.50±0.03 and 375.00±0.02 mg/L respectively, much higher than those in other samples. The iron content and the zinc content were 22.30±0.04 and 2.80±0.03 mg/L, respectively. The content of free amino acids was 5 552.17 mg/100mL, the content of essential amino acids was 2 666.00 mg/100mL,The taurine content was 113.05 mg/100mL. The antioxidant activity of the fermentation broth was 90.48%, while the TCA soluble peptide content was 29.04 mg/mL. Pneumatophorus japonicus sauce is nutritionally rich and has special physiological activity.展开更多

The major components (mass fraction) in leaves are caryophyllene oxide (13.79%),n-hexadecanoic acid (11.91%) and β-caryophyllene (10.45%). Ten constituents are identified accounting for about 99.98% of the total volatile oil in the bark. Among these components,n-hexadecanoic acid (59.18%),linolic acid (12.70%) and butyl octyl phthalate (8.21%) are the major constituents. The oils exhibit strong antimicrobial activity and display more potent against bacteria than fungi.展开更多

Their antibacterial activity was studied in vitro against three standard strains: E. coli ATCC 25922, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, and five clinical strains: Enterobacter cloacae, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas pyocyanique, Enterococcus faecium, and E. coli. Nineteen constituents were identified in A. herba-alba essential oil representing 99.57% of the total composition The major component was α-thujone (59.07%). The bacterial strains were inhibited at concentrations ranging from 1.25 μL/mL to 5μL/mL and killed at concentrations ranging from 1.25 μL/mL to 10 μL/mL. M. pulegium resulted in the identification of eighteen constituents representing 99.48% of the total composition. The main component was pulegone (78.07%). The minimal inhibitory (MIC) and bactericidal (MBC) concentrations were ranging from 1.25 μL/mL to 2.5 μL/mL.展开更多
Objective:We aimed to establish a novel strategy for identifying key genes and active anti-inflammatory ingredients in Panax medicinal plants.Methods:First,fresh roots of 2-year-old Panax plants,including P.ginseng C....Objective:We aimed to establish a novel strategy for identifying key genes and active anti-inflammatory ingredients in Panax medicinal plants.Methods:First,fresh roots of 2-year-old Panax plants,including P.ginseng C.A.Mey.,P.quinquefolium L.,P.notoginseng(Burk.)F.H.Chen,P.japonicus C.A.Mey.,P.japonicus Mey.var.major(Burk.)C.Y.Wu et K.M.Feng,were selected as explants,and callus formation was induced under three experimental temperatures(17,24,and 30℃).Second,high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to analyze the saponin content of the callus.Nitric oxide reduction efficacy was used for“component-efficacy”gray correlation analysis to find the active anti-inflammatory ingredients.Quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR)was used to determine the inflammatory factors and verify the active ingredients’anti-inflammatory effects.Finally,qRT-PCR was used to detect the expression of key genes in the callus,and“gene-component”gray correlation analysis was used to examine the relationships between the regulatory pathway of the genes and the components.Results:Among the three experimental temperatures(17,24,and 30℃),the lowest temperature(17℃)is the most suitable for generating Panax callus.Lower-latitude native Panax notoginseng is more adaptable under high culture temperatures(24℃and 30℃)than other Panax plants.The ginsenoside contents of the callus of P.notoginseng and P.japonicus were the highest under similar climate conditions(17℃).Major anti-inflammatory components were G-Rh1,G-Rb1,G-Rg3,and G-Rh6/FloralGKa.CYP76A47 contributed to the accumulation of anti-inflammatory components.Conclusions:This study provides a strategy for the gene-component-efficacy correlational study of multi-component,multi-functional,and multi-purpose plants of the same genus.展开更多

Its biggest problem is the number of unknown is much more than the number of the equations, this result in the low imaging quality. Especially, it can not imaging in center area. For this problem, we induce the CS technique into EIT image reconstruction algorithm. The main contributions in this paper are: firstly, built up the relationship between CS and EIT definitely; secondly, sparse reconstruction is a critical step in CS, built up a general sparse regularization model based on EIT; finally, gives out some EIT imaging models based on sparse regularization method. For different scenarios, compared with traditional Tikhonov regularization (smooth regularization) method, sparse reconstruction method is not only better at anti-noise, and imaging in center area, but also faster and better resolution.展开更多

The results indicate that protocatechuic and vanillic acids are present in healthy and infected tissues of both cvs; the flavonol glycoside peltatoside. 2,6-Dimethoxybenzoic acid was detected in small amounts only in infected "Gloriana" cv while the highly resistant "Roland" cv contained the flavone datiscetin. This latter compound, due to its noticeable antifungal activity evidenced in in vitro trials, could be conceived both as a biochemical marker of resistance towards this pathogen and as a phytoanticipin.展开更多

To understand the effect of climate change on constitutive antioxidant and biochemical metabolites in Western Himalayas, five medicinal herbs were selected and grown at two altitudes in Jammu(305 m) and Srinagar(1730 ...To understand the effect of climate change on constitutive antioxidant and biochemical metabolites in Western Himalayas, five medicinal herbs were selected and grown at two altitudes in Jammu(305 m) and Srinagar(1730 m) with subtropical and temperate climates, respectively.Significant variations were observed in phenols and flavonoids in Hypericum perforatum L., Matricaria chamomilla L., Thymus vulgaris L., Cynara cardunculus L. and Echinacea purpurea L. growing at two locations. High altitude temperate site show variable(up to 13 fold) increase in their content.Proteins(1.3- 1.8 times), sugars(2.8- 4.1 times) and free amino acid(1.04- 1.22 times) were also higher at Srinagar(1730 m). Within these plants, H.perforatum and M. chamomilla have shown higher accumulation of phenols, xanthophylls and proline even at subtropical environment in Jammu(305 m)suggesting potential for increasing their geographical area. The results demonstrate that changing environmental conditions significantly affect the bioactive constituents, which accumulate as a defence strategy by these temperate plants. Their medicinal significance during climate change scenario has also been discussed.展开更多

To convert waste liquid generated during production into a useful resource, extract from waste liquid was isolated by column chromatography and studied by the pyrogallol autoxidation and 1,10-phenanthroline-Fe^2+ oxidation methods. Results show that the extract scavenged about 91% of the superoxide anion radical at a concentration of 1.4 mg/mL and 24% of the hydroxyl radical at 3.3 mg/mL. Four compounds were isolated and identified from the extract: 2,4-dihydroxy-5-methyl-1,3-azine; 2,4-dihydroxy- 1,3-diazine; 3-O-β-D-quinovopranosyl-(1→2)-4-O-sodium sulfate-β-D-xylopranosyl]-holosta-9(11)-ene313,12β,17α-triol; and 24-ethyl-5α-cholesta-7-ene-3β-O-β-D-xylopyranoside. All of these compounds are known in A. japonicus, and were found in the waste liquid for the first time.展开更多

Potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphorus and cobalt contents are 332, 110, 115, 125 and 116 mg/kg respectively. Dominant essential amino acids are leucine, valine and phenylalanine. Aspartic acid, glutamic acid and glycine are 13.8%, 11,9% and 10.3% respectively of total amino acid. Saturated and unsaturated fatty acids are 50.2% and 39.4% of the oil respectively. Palmitic acid makes up 36% of the total fatty acid. Extracts show no activity against E. faecalis, Y. enterolytica, E. aerogenes, B. cereus and E. agglomerans. Methanol extracts were active against S, enteritidis, S. cholerasius ser typhimurium and P. aeruginosa (minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) 1 mg; zone of growth inhibition 7, 6.5 and 7 mm respectively). Aqueous extracts show activity against E. coli (MIC 5 mg) and P. aeruginosa (MIC 1 mg) while methanol extracts are active against P. aeruginosa and L. monocytogenes. G. lafifolium has potential food and antibacterial uses.
文摘5-aminosalicylic acid(5-ASA)compounds are a highly effective treatment for ulcerative colitis(UC).While UC patient compliance in clinical studies is over 90%, only 40%of patients in every day life take their prescribed therapy.Adherence to medication has been emphasized recently by a Cochrane meta-analysis that has suggested that future trials of 5-ASA in UC should look at patient compliance rather than drug efficacy. Better compliance can be obtained by reducing the number of tablets and times of administration.Given that the 5-ASA formulations have different delivery systems that split the active moiety in various regions of the intestine,it is particularly important that an adequate dose of the drug arrives at the inflamed part of the colon.5-ASA Multi matrix(MMx)is a novel,high strength(1.2 g),oral formulation designed for oncedaily dosing.It releases the active moiety throughout the colon.Different studies with this compound have shown that it is as effective as 5-ASA enema in the treatment of mild-to-moderate,left-sided UC,and is comparable to a pH-dependent,delayed release 5-ASA (Asacol ),even if given once daily.Recently,the effectiveness in the acute phase of UC has been confirmed also in maintenance.In conclusion,at present,5-ASA MMx seems theoretically the best agent for maintaining patient compliance,and consequently,treatment effectiveness.

文摘Rosemary(Rosmarius officinalis L.), an endemic plant species in south region of China, is traditionally used as a spice. In this research, the anti-inflammatory activities of essential oil and the antibacterial activities of ethanol extraction were determined, respectively. Results showed that based on the GC-MS analysis there were 35 kinds of active ingredients in the essential oil in totally, mainly including D-limonene(24.158 ml/L), α-Pinene(23.325 ml/L), Camphor(9.855 ml/L),Camphene(7.076 ml/L), Verbenone(6.685 ml/L), Borneol(5.580 ml/L), etc. The LCUV determination indicated that the main components in the ethanol extractionwere rosmarinic acid(3 910 mg/kg) and carnosic acid(2 970 mg/kg). By mice peritoneal macrophage phagocytosis of chicken erythrocytes experiment, the essential oil of rosemary was shown having a significant role in anti-inflammation. And the ethanol extraction had broad-spectrum antibacterial effects, but had no effect on mold by the agar diffusion method of 8 bacteria. As a result, both rosemary essential oil and ethanol extraction had good potential medicinal values.
文摘The aim of the present work was to investigate the synergetic effect of microwave and ultrasound treatment on the production, chemical composition and antioxidant activity of rose essential oil. The rose essential oil was extracted from fresh Rosa x damciscena Mill. petals by four methods, hydrodistillation, steam distillation, organic solvent extraction and ultrasounds followed by microwave hydrodistillation. The chemical composition of the extracts was analysed by GC-MS, and the antioxidant capacity by DPPH. It was found that both chemical composition and the antioxidant activity of the extracts depend on the extraction method. Overall it was found that microwaves coupled with ultrasonic treatment can be used effectively for the intensification of the extraction of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes--fragrance bearing molecules--and equally, for increased antioxidant activity while using about 4 time shorter extraction time. The scale-up of the method was also evaluated. The results obtained in this research support the possible use of the US/MW method for the extraction of rose essential oil for the pharmaceutical and fragrance industry.
文摘The nutritional composition of Pneumatophorus japonicus sauce was analyzed and compared with other fish sauces. The sodium chloride content of the sample Pneumatophorus japonicus sauce was greater than 25%. The total soluble nitrogen content was greater than 2.1 g/100mL, and the amino nitrogen content was greater than 1.2 g/100mL. The mineral content was abundant in the Pneumatophorus japonicus sauce, the calcium content and the magnesium content were 391.50±0.03 and 375.00±0.02 mg/L respectively, much higher than those in other samples. The iron content and the zinc content were 22.30±0.04 and 2.80±0.03 mg/L, respectively. The content of free amino acids was 5 552.17 mg/100mL, the content of essential amino acids was 2 666.00 mg/100mL,The taurine content was 113.05 mg/100mL. The antioxidant activity of the fermentation broth was 90.48%, while the TCA soluble peptide content was 29.04 mg/mL. Pneumatophorus japonicus sauce is nutritionally rich and has special physiological activity.

文摘The volatile oil of leaves and barks of Calycopteris floribunda was examined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). 52 volatile chemical components in leaves were identified. The antimicrobial assay of oils in the leaves and barks was carried out by disk diffusion method in vitro. The major components (mass fraction) in leaves are caryophyllene oxide (13.79%),n-hexadecanoic acid (11.91%) and β-caryophyllene (10.45%). Ten constituents are identified accounting for about 99.98% of the total volatile oil in the bark. Among these components,n-hexadecanoic acid (59.18%),linolic acid (12.70%) and butyl octyl phthalate (8.21%) are the major constituents. The oils exhibit strong antimicrobial activity and display more potent against bacteria than fungi.
文摘The chemical composition of essential oils obtained from Artemisia herba-alba and Mentha pulegium were determined. The essential oils were analyzed by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Their antibacterial activity was studied in vitro against three standard strains: E. coli ATCC 25922, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, and five clinical strains: Enterobacter cloacae, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas pyocyanique, Enterococcus faecium, and E. coli. Nineteen constituents were identified in A. herba-alba essential oil representing 99.57% of the total composition The major component was α-thujone (59.07%). The bacterial strains were inhibited at concentrations ranging from 1.25 μL/mL to 5μL/mL and killed at concentrations ranging from 1.25 μL/mL to 10 μL/mL. M. pulegium resulted in the identification of eighteen constituents representing 99.48% of the total composition. The main component was pulegone (78.07%). The minimal inhibitory (MIC) and bactericidal (MBC) concentrations were ranging from 1.25 μL/mL to 2.5 μL/mL.

文摘Objective:We aimed to establish a novel strategy for identifying key genes and active anti-inflammatory ingredients in Panax medicinal plants.Methods:First,fresh roots of 2-year-old Panax plants,including P.ginseng C.A.Mey.,P.quinquefolium L.,P.notoginseng(Burk.)F.H.Chen,P.japonicus C.A.Mey.,P.japonicus Mey.var.major(Burk.)C.Y.Wu et K.M.Feng,were selected as explants,and callus formation was induced under three experimental temperatures(17,24,and 30℃).Second,high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to analyze the saponin content of the callus.Nitric oxide reduction efficacy was used for“component-efficacy”gray correlation analysis to find the active anti-inflammatory ingredients.Quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR)was used to determine the inflammatory factors and verify the active ingredients’anti-inflammatory effects.Finally,qRT-PCR was used to detect the expression of key genes in the callus,and“gene-component”gray correlation analysis was used to examine the relationships between the regulatory pathway of the genes and the components.Results:Among the three experimental temperatures(17,24,and 30℃),the lowest temperature(17℃)is the most suitable for generating Panax callus.Lower-latitude native Panax notoginseng is more adaptable under high culture temperatures(24℃and 30℃)than other Panax plants.The ginsenoside contents of the callus of P.notoginseng and P.japonicus were the highest under similar climate conditions(17℃).Major anti-inflammatory components were G-Rh1,G-Rb1,G-Rg3,and G-Rh6/FloralGKa.CYP76A47 contributed to the accumulation of anti-inflammatory components.Conclusions:This study provides a strategy for the gene-component-efficacy correlational study of multi-component,multi-functional,and multi-purpose plants of the same genus.

文摘EIT (electrical impedance tomography) problem should be represented by a group of partial differential equation, in numerical calculation: the nonlinear problem should be linearization approximately, and then linear equations set is obtained, so EIT image reconstruct problem should be considered as a classical ill-posed, ill-conditioned, linear inverse problem. Its biggest problem is the number of unknown is much more than the number of the equations, this result in the low imaging quality. Especially, it can not imaging in center area. For this problem, we induce the CS technique into EIT image reconstruction algorithm. The main contributions in this paper are: firstly, built up the relationship between CS and EIT definitely; secondly, sparse reconstruction is a critical step in CS, built up a general sparse regularization model based on EIT; finally, gives out some EIT imaging models based on sparse regularization method. For different scenarios, compared with traditional Tikhonov regularization (smooth regularization) method, sparse reconstruction method is not only better at anti-noise, and imaging in center area, but also faster and better resolution.
文摘Phenol composition of two carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) cvs "Gloriana" and "Roland", partially and highly resistant to F. oxysporum f. sp. dianthi, respectively, has been investigated with the aim of assessing the possible role of phenolic constituents both as biochemical markers of resistance and antifungal molecules. Analyses were performed through chromatography, NMR and MS methods. The results indicate that protocatechuic and vanillic acids are present in healthy and infected tissues of both cvs; the flavonol glycoside peltatoside. 2,6-Dimethoxybenzoic acid was detected in small amounts only in infected "Gloriana" cv while the highly resistant "Roland" cv contained the flavone datiscetin. This latter compound, due to its noticeable antifungal activity evidenced in in vitro trials, could be conceived both as a biochemical marker of resistance towards this pathogen and as a phytoanticipin.
文摘Curcumin (diferuloylmethane), the main yellow bioactive component of turmeric has been shown to have a wide spectrum of biological actions. It is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, antimutagenic, anticoagulant, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal, antiviral, antifibrotic, antivenom, anti-ulcer and hypocholesteremic. Its anticancer effect is mainly mediated through induction of apoptosis. Its anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antioxidant roles may be clinically exploited to control rheumatism, carcinogenesis and oxidative stress-related pathogenesis. Clinically, curcumin has already been used to reduce post-operative inflammation, Thus, curcumin has the potential of chemopreventive action and has been used in the development of modern medicine to treat various diseases.

文摘To understand the effect of climate change on constitutive antioxidant and biochemical metabolites in Western Himalayas, five medicinal herbs were selected and grown at two altitudes in Jammu(305 m) and Srinagar(1730 m) with subtropical and temperate climates, respectively.Significant variations were observed in phenols and flavonoids in Hypericum perforatum L., Matricaria chamomilla L., Thymus vulgaris L., Cynara cardunculus L. and Echinacea purpurea L. growing at two locations. High altitude temperate site show variable(up to 13 fold) increase in their content.Proteins(1.3- 1.8 times), sugars(2.8- 4.1 times) and free amino acid(1.04- 1.22 times) were also higher at Srinagar(1730 m). Within these plants, H.perforatum and M. chamomilla have shown higher accumulation of phenols, xanthophylls and proline even at subtropical environment in Jammu(305 m)suggesting potential for increasing their geographical area. The results demonstrate that changing environmental conditions significantly affect the bioactive constituents, which accumulate as a defence strategy by these temperate plants. Their medicinal significance during climate change scenario has also been discussed.

文摘Apostichopus japonicus Selenka is an ideal tonic food that is used traditionally in many Asian countries, and it contains many bioactive substances, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer materials. To convert waste liquid generated during production into a useful resource, extract from waste liquid was isolated by column chromatography and studied by the pyrogallol autoxidation and 1,10-phenanthroline-Fe^2+ oxidation methods. Results show that the extract scavenged about 91% of the superoxide anion radical at a concentration of 1.4 mg/mL and 24% of the hydroxyl radical at 3.3 mg/mL. Four compounds were isolated and identified from the extract: 2,4-dihydroxy-5-methyl-1,3-azine; 2,4-dihydroxy- 1,3-diazine; 3-O-β-D-quinovopranosyl-(1→2)-4-O-sodium sulfate-β-D-xylopranosyl]-holosta-9(11)-ene313,12β,17α-triol; and 24-ethyl-5α-cholesta-7-ene-3β-O-β-D-xylopyranoside. All of these compounds are known in A. japonicus, and were found in the waste liquid for the first time.
