However, the long-term irrational use of chemical pesticide produces many problems. In nature, there exit extensive antagonistic microorganisms which are tightly concerned with plant pathogenic microbes, and biological pesticides can be researched to control related pathogenic microbes from its metabolites. It's an important research direction of new pesticide development. The Bacillus is the ideal and frequently studied object of bio-control bacteria, and it can produce some entospores with following characteristics such as heat-resistant, drought tolerance, antiultraviolet and organic solvent. In this article, the bio-control mechanism, problems and application prospects of the Bacillus were reviewed to promote the application in new biological pesticide.展开更多

SY 37-12. After ethanol fractionation and lyophilization, the water-soluble agar polysaccharide (WSAP3) was collected. The anti-tumor activity of the product was determined by using Sarcoma 180 tumor in mouse. The tumor inhibition rate of WSAP3 the product was determined by using Sarcoma 180 tumor in mouse. The tumor inhibition rate of WSAP3 reached 48.7% at a dose of 64mg kg^-1 after 15 days treatment. WSAP3 enhanced the aetivities of superoxide dismutase and catalase, which suggests that WSAP3 was effective in promoting the antioxidation ability and eliminating danger from free radicals. The result of flow cytometry showed that the WSAP3 had no activities of cell cycle inhibition or apoptosis-inducing activities. The anti-oxidation of WSAP3 was further confirmed by test in vitro, which might play an important role in anti-tumor activity. The immunological regulation of WSAP3, especially its effect on the phagocytosis ratio and phagocytosis index of rophage was also assayed in test in vivo.展开更多

It is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, antimutagenic, anticoagulant, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal, antiviral, antifibrotic, antivenom, anti-ulcer and hypocholesteremic. Its anticancer effect is mainly mediated through induction of apoptosis. Its anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antioxidant roles may be clinically exploited to control rheumatism, carcinogenesis and oxidative stress-related pathogenesis. Clinically, curcumin has already been used to reduce post-operative inflammation, Thus, curcumin has the potential of chemopreventive action and has been used in the development of modern medicine to treat various diseases.展开更多

For that purpose, both antimicrobials were loaded into Oil-in-/Water nanoemulsions, and their antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis was investigated. The experimental results indicated that the O/W nanoemulsions loaded with both, nisin and carvacrol, having Sauter mean diameter (d3,2) of around 120 nm, were considerably stable under the conditions investigated (up to 1 week storage at room temperature). The interfacial tension between nisin aqueous solutions and soybean oil could be reduced up to 12 mN/m, as compared to that of pure water and soybean oil (21 mN/m), so that demonstrating the potential of nisin to be used as emulsifier. The results obtained for O/W nanoemulsions loaded with both antimicrobial compounds indicated a reduction of nearly two log cycles (around 100 times) on B. subtilis population upon incubation for 24 h, compared to the blank (10 mM phosphate buffer).展开更多

Methods: Fourteen title compounds were synthesized and confirmed by the elementary analysis, 1HNMR and IR spectra. Five deep fungal strains and 3 shallow fungal strains were chosen as the experimental strains.Minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs) of all title compounds were determined by the method recommended by the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS) using RPMI 1640 test medium. Results: Among the 14 title compounds, 12 were first reported. The results of preliminary antifungal test showed that all the title compounds exhibited potent antifungal activities to a certain extent. The activity of 4 compounds were more than 4 times as high as that of fluconazole and equal to that of ketoconazole against Candida albicans in vitro(MIC 80 value≤0.125 μg/ml). Conclusion: Introduction of a side chain containing 4-substituted acyl piperazin-1-yl into the main part of fluconazole has important influence on antifungal activities of title compounds.展开更多

TP ranged from 1,943 to 2,692 mg L-1 gallic acid equivalent whereas FRAP from 43,217 to 126,125 μmol L-1 Trolox equivalent for the three smoothies on opening. BACAR had the highest TP and antioxidant activity. The smoothies showed significant decrease (P 〈 0.05) in TP during storage. The decrease in antioxidant activity was significant (P 〈 0.05) for BRAB and MAP only. However, the study revealed that the smoothies had high antioxidant activity even during shelf-life at 4 ℃ which implies that consumption of smoothies may give considerable antioxidant benefits. Correlation between TP and antioxidant activity was strong and highly significant (r = 0.890, P 〈 0.0001).展开更多
