With the widespread use and misuse of antibiotics, antibiotic-resistant strains are spreading at an increasing rate, which makes treatment for many common diseases increasingly difficult. Antibiotic resistance can render effective treatment options ineffective, increase the cost of care for patients, and increase the economic burden on the healthcare system, which requires more resources to be invested in research and development of new treatments. This review focuses on the issue of antibiotic resistance and elaborates on the current critical status of antibiotic resistance, including the increasing number of drug-resistant bacteria and their widespread presence in different settings. At the same time, the serious consequences of the problem, such as threats to human health and challenges to the medical system, are analyzed. At the same time, a series of strategies to deal with antibiotic resistance are proposed to effectively address the challenge of antibiotic resistance and protect public health.展开更多
