To clarify the antibacterial behavior at early adhesion,two titania nanotube(TNT)arrays were fabricated on polished commercially pure titanium(Ti),and the interaction mechanisms between TNT arrays and the model bacter...To clarify the antibacterial behavior at early adhesion,two titania nanotube(TNT)arrays were fabricated on polished commercially pure titanium(Ti),and the interaction mechanisms between TNT arrays and the model bacteria(Escherichia coli,E.coli)were investigated.The results show that TNT arrays exhibit a significant early antibacterial effect,which is highly related to the surface free energy and nano-topography.The underlying antibacterial mechanisms include:(1)the anti-initial-attachment effect at the lag phase(0−4 h);(2)the anti-proliferation and physical bactericidal effects at the logarithmic phase(4−12 h);(3)the reduced antimicrobial properties probably due to the overgrowth of bacteria on TNT arrays at the stationary phase(12 h and then).展开更多

The aim of this study was to determine if expressionof Leb in H. Pyloriinterferes with bacterial adhesion property.METHODS: Bacterial adhesion to immobilized Leb onmicrotitre plate was performed in 63-H. Pyloristrains obtainedfrom Singapore using in vitro adherence assay. Expression ofLewis blood group antigens was determined by ELISA assay.RESULTS: Among 63 H. Pyloristrains, 28 expressed Lebantigen. In vitro adhesion assay showed that 78.6 % (22/28) of Leb-positive and 74.3 % (26/35) of Leb-negative-H.pyloriisolates were positive for adhesion to immobilized Lebcoated on microtitre plate (P=0.772). In addition, blockingof H. Pylori Leb by prior incubation with anti-Leb monoclonalantibody did not alter thebinding of the bacteria to solid-phase coated Leb.CONCLUSION: The present study suggests that expressionof Leb in H. Pyloridoes not interfere with the bacterialadhesion property. This result supports the notion that Lebpresent on human gastric epithelial cells is capable of beinga receptor for H.pylori.展开更多

Objective: To study the effect of surface configuration on the corrosion resistance and bacterium accumulation of pure Titanium(Ti) when used in oral environment. Methods: Six edentulous volunteers with healthy oral m...Objective: To study the effect of surface configuration on the corrosion resistance and bacterium accumulation of pure Titanium(Ti) when used in oral environment. Methods: Six edentulous volunteers with healthy oral mucosa participated in an in vivo study. Two kinds of pure Ti testing pieces with plane and wrinkly surface were fixed in the polished surface of upper complete dentures. After 6-month wearing, dynamic polarization curves were traced with electrochemical method and the amount and species of bacterium adhered on pure Ti were examined. Results: ① Ep and Ip of specimen in oral cavity was higher than that left in air, which meant corrosion resistance falling. Compared to plane one, Ecorr of wrinkly specimen was more positive and Ep and Ip were more higher, so its corrosion resistance reduced. ② Individual difference put a significant influence on amount of bacterium adhered on pure Titanium, but had no relation to species of bacterium. To the same patient, wrinkly samples collected more bacterium than plane ones, and exhibited G - coccus beside G + coccus. Conclusion: From the perspective of corrosion behavior and benefit to periodontal tissue, wrinkly surface should not be adopted when pure Ti prosthesis is made,especially on connector part of denture.展开更多
