Objectives:The study aimed to the multicenter application of a nursing workload measurement scale in the internal medicine and surgery adults hospitalization units.Methods:The study design was a multicenter,observatio...Objectives:The study aimed to the multicenter application of a nursing workload measurement scale in the internal medicine and surgery adults hospitalization units.Methods:The study design was a multicenter,observational,and descriptive study.A multicenter application of the MIDENF®nursing workload measurement scale was carried out,which consists of 21 items,and covers the four nursing functions(patient care items,teaching,manager,and researcher),in units of hospitalization of adults of internal medicine and surgery of four different hospitals.Each item contains one or more of the nursing interventions of Nursing Interventions Classification(NIC)and has an assigned time,after comparing the real time it takes to perform each intervention with the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association(NANDA)standardized time.The study was carried out during nine months of the year 2020,measuring two days each month in the three work shifts(morning,evening,and night)to all patients admitted on the days of measurement in the indicated units.Results:The descriptive and inferential analysis of 11,756 completed scales,5,695 in general surgery and 6,061 in internal medicine,showed a greater care load for the two units during the morning shift(227,034 min in general surgery,261,835 min in internal medicine),especially in the items of“self-care”,“medication”,“common invasive procedures”,“fluid therapy”,and“patient and family support”,while the managerial function was similar during the three work shifts in the two units studied,getting values between 57,348 and 62,901min.In the analysis by shift and unit,statistical significance was obtained both for the total workload and the four nursing functions(P<0.001).Conclusions:It is shown that the use of validated scales with the standardized language of nursing functions,adapted to the units,provides objective information to adjust the nursing staff to the real situation of care in any hospital and unit where it is applied,improving quality and patient safety.展开更多

By using the built-in vibration sensor in sma...Road condition is an important variable to measure in order to decrease road and vehicle operating/maintenance costs, but also to increase ride comfort and traffic safety. By using the built-in vibration sensor in smart phones, it is possible to collect road roughness data which can be an indicator of road condition up to a level of Class 2 or 3 in a simple and cost efficient way. Since data collection therefore is possible to be done more frequently, one can better monitor roughness changes over time. The continuous data collection can also give early warnings of changes and damage, enable new ways to work in the operational road maintenance management, and can serve as a guide for more accurate surveys for strategic asset management and pavement planning. Collected measurement data are wirelessly transferred by the operator when needed via a web service to an internet mapping server with spatial filtering functions. The measured data can be aggregated in preferred sections, as well as exported to other GlS （geographical information systems） or road management systems. Our conclusion is that measuring roads with smart phones can provide an efficient, scalable, and cost-effective way for road organizations to deliver road condition data.展开更多

In China, great progress has been achieved since 1956 when the first nature reserve was established. However, conflicts between nature reserve officials and community members, and differences be-tween conservation and utilization of natural resources suggest that the traditional community affair model is unfit to some de-gree. A more workable and economically sustainable model is recommended. Co-management appears to be the preferred management model. International conservation organizations have carried out projects in Chinese nature reserves in recent years, and co-management is thought to be an effective approach to resolve conflicts coming from community and to improve nature reserves management.展开更多

Results： Through the implementation of the management of nursing safety and nursing quality, hospital comprehensive nursing quality and service satisfaction has increased significantly. Conclusion： Implementation of nursing safety management and nursing quality management, which ensure the nursing quality of hospital-wide surveillance, improvement and implementation of nursing quality and service satisfaction improved to play a positive role in promoting.
