To make warranty cost models more suitable to real operations, a modeling method of the PM warranty cost was proposed with the situation where each PM operation slowed the rate of product degradation. A warranty cost model was built on PM operations. On the basis of the cost model, both without and with reliability limit PM warranty policy, algorithms were presented to derive the optimal PM number and the optimal PM interval with an objective of minimizing expected total warranty cost over a t'mite warranty period. Finally, to demonstrate the feasibility of the presented modeling method, Weibuil distribution cases were tested by numerical simulations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed modeling method is feasible and valid for resolving the optimal solution of the product warranty cost.展开更多

The rail sector thus needs to improve its knowledge of trespassing and suicide, including at level crossing, in order to work out suitable responses by analyzing measures already taken in various countries, Governments, the rail industry and road organizations have been implementing a variety of countermeasures for many years to improve railway safety. These actions are substantial and have resulted in a continuing decrease in the number and the severity of accidents. This paper presents existing suitable techniques that are used in the preventative measures targeted to reduce railway suicides, trespassing and level crossing user accidents. It describes them in terms of their capability to effectively reduce accidents, their cost-effectiveness and their integration within the railway transport system as a whole.展开更多
We studied the locomotor behaviour of white-headed langurs Trachypithecus leucocephalus and Francois' langurs T.francoisi to test two hypotheses: (1) these monkeys have evolved locomotor ability to support their a...We studied the locomotor behaviour of white-headed langurs Trachypithecus leucocephalus and Francois' langurs T.francoisi to test two hypotheses: (1) these monkeys have evolved locomotor ability to support their activities on limestone hills, and (2) Francois' langurs have evolved more diverse locomotor skills than white-headed langurs. Data were collected from 1996 - 1998 and in 2005 in Fusui Nature Reserve, Guangxi, and showed that the two species had similar locomotor types, but Francois' langurs had more locomotor modes (26) than white-headed langurs (12). Quadrupedal walking and leaping were two major types, and white-headed langurs were more arboreal than Francois' langurs. We suggest that, while keeping their ancestral locomotor types, the two species have evolved new types allowing them to live on limestone cliffs. Compared to white-headed langurs, Francois' langurs have more diverse locomotor modes that probably have allowed them to live in more habitat types. As an evolutionary outcome, Francois' langurs have a larger distribution range .展开更多
The goal of this study was to investigate the behaviour of rainbow trout(n=30),Oncorhynchus mykiss,in small raceways when either self-feeders(T2) or hand-feeding(t2) were used.The method of food delivery in T2 was def...The goal of this study was to investigate the behaviour of rainbow trout(n=30),Oncorhynchus mykiss,in small raceways when either self-feeders(T2) or hand-feeding(t2) were used.The method of food delivery in T2 was defensible while that of t2 was indefensible.Fish in both raceways were subjected to restricted feeding(RF) for 25 days.Food was available in the morning(09:00-10:00) in the downstream area and in the afternoon(16:00-17:00) in the upstream area of the raceways.The results showed that the behaviour of rainbow trout was significantly different under interference competition(T2) for food compared with that under scramble competition(t2).RF in T2 fish limited food availability to meal times when feeding rewards were available while t2 fish only responded to the location of food delivery.The aggressive fish in T2 were dominant,and t2 fish at high densities showed intense social interactions under the indefensible pattern of food distribution;these interactions did not dampen to a minimum level to suppress the development of dominance hierarchies.Further,the stocking density did not break down the dominance hierarchies between the T2 fish.This suggests that decreased efficiency in the search for food or inefficient foraging,induced by interference competition at high densities,affected the behaviour of rainbow trout.展开更多

VFDs (variable frequency drives) are an integral part of many industrial plants and stations. Reliable operation and maintenance of these drives is vital to ensure sustained plant operation and availability. Underst...VFDs (variable frequency drives) are an integral part of many industrial plants and stations. Reliable operation and maintenance of these drives is vital to ensure sustained plant operation and availability. Understanding of the principles of operation of VFD systems as well as knowledge about their required operating environment is necessary for all operating personnel. Many times the operating personnel do not get involved with different technical issues until a complete failure has occurred. Hence, the awareness of the most dominant failure causes has a significant impact on assisting operators to avoid catastrophic failures and tremendous economic losses due to VFD shutdown. Proper plant design, accurate monitoring and data logging, following manufacturer preventive maintenance schedule, and choosing qualified team of operators can be the key to an efficient operation and a long lifetime for any VFD system. In this paper, we have analyzed the electrical and non-electrical causes of VFD failures based on a case study of a typical medium voltage VFD pumping station. The TVPA 2000 and its subsequent reauthorizations in 2003, 2005, and 2008 were put forth to increase the scope, focus, and effectiveness of US efforts to combat human trafficking. In-depth analyses of each reauthorization provide an understanding of the aims of the TVPA. The evolution of the TVPA reauthorizations dearly demonstrates that the US is committed to thwarting human trafficking both domestically and internationally. The analyses examine strengths and weaknesses of the legislation and provide insight as to how the TVPA reached its current state as the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 (TVPRA 2008). Background: Regular physical activity(PA) has documented effects in prevention and treatment of many non-communicable diseases(NCDs).Physical inactivity is recognized as the fourth leading risk factor for premature de...Background: Regular physical activity(PA) has documented effects in prevention and treatment of many non-communicable diseases(NCDs).Physical inactivity is recognized as the fourth leading risk factor for premature death, worldwide. Despite these facts, physical inactivity is increasing,not only in high-income, but also in middle-and low-income countries. To address this negative trend, evidence-based methods to increase PA are needed. The purpose of this paper is to describe the implementation and assessment of 4 strategies designed to increase PA in Vietnam.Methods: Four strategies were used: i) introduction and evaluation of an education and training program on the Swedish method of Physical Activity on Prescription(PAP) among health care professionals, ii) translation of the PAP evidence-based handbook, Physical Activity in the Prevention and Treatment of Disease(called FYSS in Swedish) into Vietnamese, iii) launch of a mass-media campaign to promote PA, and iv)advocacy to support development of PA guidelines in Vietnam.Results: The evaluation indicated that the participating health care professionals had a positive attitude to PAP. However, they also reported uncertainty in prescribing PA. FYSS was translated and disseminated successfully to health care professionals. A mass-media campaign identified the beneficial effects of PA to health care professionals, journalists, policy makers, and the public. Last, the process of developing national guidelines on PA was initiated.Conclusion: This project led to enhanced awareness and appreciation of PA in the prevention and treatment of NCDs among health care professionals as well as initiation of national PA guidelines. Important lessons also were learned in the presentation of PAP, which will be considered when designing similar projects in the future.展开更多

In the framework of the canal environmental protection program of Ho Chi Minh City, we had developed 32 public awareness meetings for 14 districts with about 2,726 participants from year 2012 to 2015. The program had been organized in various forms such as training, brochure, leaflet, poster, propaganda gifts, face-to-face discussion, study visits, survey questionnaire. The results of the program can add substantial value to the canal environmental protection program of the city. The information gained through public comments can help identify key issues and solutions for the authorities as district and city levels. It was determined that most important outcomes from the public participation were educating the public, incorporating public values, assumptions and preferences into decision making process.展开更多

Petroleum reliant power plants would be out of production and the transportation industry would have no gasoline for its vehicle. Apart from this, there is a big need for the protection of the environment. Therefore, it is important to replace the petroleum with non fossil fuels or ones that can be made to last a lot longer, such as the renewable fuels that can be used in the engines and are friendly to the environment too. This paper examines the use of diesel-soy oil mixtures and diesel-olive seed oil mixtures in a four-stroke diesel engine. For those mixtures the gas emissions of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen monoxide (NO) are being measured and the fuel consumption is also examined.展开更多
The purpose of this pre-experimental research (one-group pretest-posttest design) was to study the ettects ot the 4 Basics Exercise Model on dysmenorrhea for structural equilibrium changes in nursing students at Pha...The purpose of this pre-experimental research (one-group pretest-posttest design) was to study the ettects ot the 4 Basics Exercise Model on dysmenorrhea for structural equilibrium changes in nursing students at Phachomklao College of Nursing, Phetchaburi Province, who were divided the 4 Basics Exercise Model for dysmenorrhea into pre- and post-test experimental groups. The sample group was composed of 31 persons, using the 4 Basics Exercise Model over three months for 30 minutes per day on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Data were collected on personal information, dysmenorrhea pain scores, and satisfaction in the 4 Basics Exercise Model for dysmenorrhea records. According to the research findings, the level of dysmenorrhea pain was significantly decreased in the experimental group for one, two, and three months post-exercise. In addition, the comparison of decreases in the dysmenorrhea pain of experimental group was significantly different at two and three months post-exercise at .01. The exception was at one month post-exercise when there was no statistically significant difference. According to the findings of the study, the 4 Basics Exercise Model for dysmenorrhea effectively decreased dysmenorrhea and the duration of menstrual periods with improving signs of menstruation. Therefore, nurses who provide gynecological care should learn and have knowledge regarding the 4 Basics Exercise Model to help relieve menstrual pain.展开更多

Also large oil reliant suppliers of such goods as plastics, heating oil and construction material would be at a loss for the necessary raw materials. Petroleum reliant power plants would be out of production and the transportation industry would have no gasoline for its vehicle. Apart from this, there is a big need for the protection of the environment. Therefore, it is important to replace the petroleum with non fossil fuels or ones that can be made to last a lot longer, such as the renewable fuels that can be used in the engines and are friendly to the environment too. This paper examines the use of diesel-soy oil mixtures and diesel-olive seed oil mixtures in a four-stroke diesel engine. For those mixtures the gas emissions of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen monoxide (NO) are being measured and the fuel consumption is also examined.
文摘The purpose of this pre-experimental research (one-group pretest-posttest design) was to study the ettects ot the 4 Basics Exercise Model on dysmenorrhea for structural equilibrium changes in nursing students at Phachomklao College of Nursing, Phetchaburi Province, who were divided the 4 Basics Exercise Model for dysmenorrhea into pre- and post-test experimental groups. The sample group was composed of 31 persons, using the 4 Basics Exercise Model over three months for 30 minutes per day on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Data were collected on personal information, dysmenorrhea pain scores, and satisfaction in the 4 Basics Exercise Model for dysmenorrhea records. According to the research findings, the level of dysmenorrhea pain was significantly decreased in the experimental group for one, two, and three months post-exercise. In addition, the comparison of decreases in the dysmenorrhea pain of experimental group was significantly different at two and three months post-exercise at .01. The exception was at one month post-exercise when there was no statistically significant difference. According to the findings of the study, the 4 Basics Exercise Model for dysmenorrhea effectively decreased dysmenorrhea and the duration of menstrual periods with improving signs of menstruation. Therefore, nurses who provide gynecological care should learn and have knowledge regarding the 4 Basics Exercise Model to help relieve menstrual pain.
