Basically on the multi-body system dynamics,the virtual prototype of the hydraulic shock absorber for the bench test is developed in the ADAMS environment.Dynamic behaviors of the absorber are studied by both computer...Basically on the multi-body system dynamics,the virtual prototype of the hydraulic shock absorber for the bench test is developed in the ADAMS environment.Dynamic behaviors of the absorber are studied by both computer simulation and real test.Numerical predictions of dynamic responses are produced by the established virtual prototype of the absorber and compared with experimental results.It has been shown from the comparison that the vibration behaviors of the prototype with hysteretic damping characteristics are considered to be more identical with the bench test results than those of the same prototype with piecewise linear damping properties are.The current virtual prototype of the shock absorber is correct and can be a developing terrace for the optimizing design of the absorber and matching capability of the whole car.展开更多
The real-time prediction of bearing wear for roller cone bits using the Intelligent Drilling Advisory system (IDAs) may result in better performance in oil and gas drilling operations and reduce total drilling cost....The real-time prediction of bearing wear for roller cone bits using the Intelligent Drilling Advisory system (IDAs) may result in better performance in oil and gas drilling operations and reduce total drilling cost. IDAs is a real time engineering software and being developed for the oil and gas industry to enhance the performance of complex drilling processes providing meaningful analysis of drilling operational data. The prediction of bearing wear for roller cone bits is one of the most important engineering modules included into IDAs to analyze the drilling data in real time environment. The Bearing Wear Prediction module in IDAs uses a newly developed wear model considering drilling parameters such as weight on bit (WOB), revolution per minute (RPM), diameter of bit and hours drilled as a function of International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) bit bearing wear. The drilling engineers can evaluate bearing wear status including cumulative wear of roller cone bit in real time while drilling, using this intelligent system and make a decision on when to pull out the bit in time to avoid bearing failure. The wear prediction module as well as the intelligent system has been successfully tested and verified with field data from different wells drilled in Western Canada. The estimated cumulative wears from the analysis match close with the corresponding field values.展开更多
In the urban labor market, the rural labor force can choose whether to become self- employed or work for wages depending on their stock of human capital and local labor market conditions. A simple Mincer earnings regr...In the urban labor market, the rural labor force can choose whether to become self- employed or work for wages depending on their stock of human capital and local labor market conditions. A simple Mincer earnings regression shows that the rate of return to schooling for wage earners is two percentage points higher than that for the self-employed. After correcting for bias in sample selection, the expanded Mincer earnings equation estimated the rate of return to schooling for wage earners at between 5.3 and 6.8 percent. From the standpoint of training, we found that the simplest form of training, short-term training and formal training played an important role in promoting migrant workers’ repeat mobility. However, the simplest form of training did not have a significant effect on earnings,whereas short-term and formal training played an important determining role in this respect. Moreover, rights protection issues such as wage arrears also had an important effect on migrant workers’ repeat mobility. In handling heterogeneity and endogenous educational variables among migrant workers, the authors found that the years of schooling of the parents of migrant workers were not an ideal instrumental variable.展开更多

Precipitation and potential evapotranspiration are taken as the c...This paper proposes a method of small reservoir flood detention modeling that utilizes data from the American land resources satellite Landsat TM/ETM+. Precipitation and potential evapotranspiration are taken as the control conditions in this method on the basis of basin terrain classification. The objective of this method is to solve the question of a small-scale water conservancy project’s influence on flood forecasting precision, which can be used in the basin with multitudinous small reservoirs in the upstream region and can help estimate non-runoff data for small reservoir runoff. Taking the 20060826 flood as an example, the flood detention quantity of 19 small reservoirs is modeled. The results show that the absolute error of the total flood detention quantity is 0.2×10 4 m 3 , and the relative error is 0.12%. The flood detention quantity of small reservoirs in the entire basin is then modeled using this method, and the primary flood forecasting model is adjusted. After adjustment, the precision is significantly improved, with the relative error decreasing from 31.8% to 10.1%.展开更多
The mispredictive costs of flaring and non-flaring samples are different for different applications of solar flare prediction.Hence,solar flare prediction is considered a cost sensitive problem.A cost sensitive solar ...The mispredictive costs of flaring and non-flaring samples are different for different applications of solar flare prediction.Hence,solar flare prediction is considered a cost sensitive problem.A cost sensitive solar flare prediction model is built by modifying the basic decision tree algorithm.Inconsistency rate with the exhaustive search strategy is used to determine the optimal combination of magnetic field parameters in an active region.These selected parameters are applied as the inputs of the solar flare prediction model.The performance of the cost sensitive solar flare prediction model is evaluated for the different thresholds of solar flares.It is found that more flaring samples are correctly predicted and more non-flaring samples are wrongly predicted with the increase of the cost for wrongly predicting flaring samples as non-flaring samples,and the larger cost of wrongly predicting flaring samples as non-flaring samples is required for the higher threshold of solar flares.This can be considered as the guide line for choosing proper cost to meet the requirements in different applications.展开更多
