中国最大的道教石窟、全国重点文物保护单位——龙山石窟

Situatedat the summitof Longshan Eastern Peak to the west of Xizhen Villageof the SouthernSuburb,26km southwest of Taiyuan,Longshan Grottoes are the largest yet most preciousTaoist cave shrines found in China.The principalcavernwas dug out between1234and1239.Andanother7caves were cut out of a protruding boulderat the crest of the mountain.Longshan Grottoes enshrine66Taoist stone sculpturesas wellas,among other motifs,8flyingdragons,double-phoenix(on caisson ceiling)and cranes in high relief.Andthe styleof allthe sculptures is simple,solid and dignifiedwith Spartan clothingand other ornaments showing severe folds--astyle totally differentfrom that of the Buddhist grottoes.On bothsides of the nichesor on the frontwallsin some cave shrines one can also findYuan(1271-1386)periodinscriptions,whichare valuable resources for studyingTaoist grottoes and the historyof Taoistdevelopment.

龙山道教石窟有关问题初探

在太原西南约四十里,有龙山道教石窟,位于静居观沟上之龙山峰顶,古昊天观之东侧。石窟凿修在一庞大峭岩上,前有敞坪数亩,后倚蔚然峻峰,更有苍松古柏,翠绿挺秀于东西。石窟共八洞,皆刻道教神仙像。规模虽不大,以道教石窟甚少,且雕艺精湛,故颇珍贵。它最早开凿于何时,无史料可考。

龙山石窟考察报告

高踞在太原西南郊区龙山绝顶巨岩上的石窟群,是我国唯一的道教石窟,在道教历史上具有重要意义;窟内的造象足以代表道教艺术的成就,在我国美术史上应该占有光辉的一页。但是,对这一窟群,迄今尚未进行过认真的调查和研究;关于它的凿造年代以及内容和样式等问题,还未得到切实的解决。地方文献把这八窟泛指为元代造作,这是未加深究的民间传说,我们决不能盲目地凭此作为时代依据。日本常盘大定氏在1920年11月来此调查,在《古贤之迹》中作了报道,并提出一些看法,有助于对这一窟群的了解,但仍有待商讨,今一并提出进行探索,期望得出比较正确的结论。
