LARGE-EDDY SIMULATION OF TWO-PHASE REACTING FLOW IN MODEL COMBUSTOR 被引量:1

The gas-droplet two-phase reacting flow in a model combustor with the V-gutter flame holder is studied by an Eulerian-Lagrangian large-eddy simulation (LES) approach. The k-equation subgrid-scale model is used to simulate the subgrid eddy viscosity, and the eddy-break-up (EBU) combustion subgrid-scale model is used to determine the chemical reaction rate. A two-step turbulent combustion subgrid-scale model is employed for calculating carbon monoxide CO concentration, and the NO subgrid-scale pollutant formation model for the evaluation of the rate of NO formation. The heat flux model is applied to the prediction of radiant heat transfer. The gas phase is solved with the SIMPLE algorithm and a hybrid scheme in the staggered grid system. The liquid phase equations are solved in a Lagrangian frame in reference of the particle-source-in-cell (PSIC) algorithm. From simulation results, the exchange of mass, moment and energy between gas and particle fields for the reacting flow in the afterburner with a V-gutter flame holder can be obtained. By the comparison of experimental and simulation results, profile temperature and pollutant of the outlet are quite in agreement with experimental data. Results show that the LES approach for predicting the two-phase instantaneous reacting flow and pollutant emissions in the afterburner is feasible. 展开更多

It incorporates two slots that allow an efficien... A transient three-dimensional(3 D) model was established to understand the bubble motion in an industrial electrolytic process. An anode with a new design was tested. It incorporates two slots that allow an efficient removal of gas bubbles. The electromagnetic fields were described by solving Maxwell's equations. The bubble movement was studied with two-way coupling Euler-Lagrange approach. The interplay of current density and bubble nucleation rate was included. The collision and coalescence of bubbles were considered. Random walk module was invoked for involving the chaotic effect of the turbulence. The numerical results were validated by experimental measurements. The results indicate that the current distribution and the bubble nucleation periodically change. Due to the slot, the bubble elimination heavily increases. The contribution of the slot to the bubble removal exceeds 50% in the case of three currents, and the promotion of the slot decays with increasing the current. 展开更多

The failure behavior of diamond-coated die was investigated experimentally and analytically through finite element method (FEM) simulation in the present work. Diamond coatings were fabricated by straight hot filament chemical vapor deposition (CVD) passing through the interior hole of the drawing die using a mixture of hydrogen and acetone as source gases. The performance tests were made under real drawing condition. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used for the study of coating wear after die service. The coating wear appears on two regions of the reduction zone: one is near the entrance where the contact begins, and the other is at the end of the reduction zone. FEM simulation was made for calculating the von Mises stresses distribution on the coating and substrate during the drawing process. The present work was of great practical significance for the improvement of drawing performance of diamond-coated drawing dies. 展开更多

Transports of air particulate matters(PM) from face sources in the atmospheric boundary layer(ABL) are investigated by the Eulerian single fluid model and the Lagrangian trajectory method,respectively.Large eddy simulation is used to simulate the fluid phase for high accuracy in both two approaches.The mean and fluctuating PM concentrations,as well as instantaneous PM distributions at different downstream and height positions,are presented.Higher mean and fluctuating particle concentrations are predicted by the Eulerian approach than the Lagrangian one.For the Lagrangian method,PM distributions cluster near the ground-wall because of the preferential dispersion of inertial particles by turbulence structures in the ABL,while it cannot be obtained by the Eulerian single fluid method,because the two-phase velocity differences are neglected in the Eulerian method. 展开更多

It is common for an aircraft to encounter icing weather conditions, which would be dangerous to the flight. Thus, there is a need to study the detail of icing effect and the process of ice accretion on the aircraft. In this paper, considering three different icing models according to weather conditions, i.e., sharp-angled ice, blunt-nosed ice and double horn ice, the Reynolds-averaged N-S equations and the S-A turbulence model are used to analyze the flow field for an iced wing/body configuration with a multi-block strategy and structured grid technique. The numerical result is compared with the experimental data. A flow solver is developed based on the Euler equations to investigate the ice accretion process. The droplets are tracked by using the Lagrangian method. In addition, a revised Messinger model is proposed to simulate the ice accretion. This numerical simulation is conducted for the ice accretion on an M6 wing and a wing/body/tail configuration. The presented results preliminarily show that the numerical methods are feasible and effective. 展开更多

Based on the idea of adjoint method and the dynamic evolution method,a new optimum aerodynamic design technique is presented in this paper.It can be applied to the optimum problems with a large number of design variables and is time saving.The key of the new method lies in that the optimization process is regarded as an unsteady evolution,i.e.,the optimization is executed,simultaneously with solving the unsteady flow governing equations and adjoint equations.Numerical examples for both the inverse problem and drag minimization using Euler equations have been presented,and the results show that the method presented in this paper is more efficient than the optimum methods based on the steady flow solution and the steady solution of adjoint equations. 展开更多
