In order to analyze the condition of s pecial landform and regularity of sp ecial hydrological movement in karst area,the method of Geomorphologic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph(GIUH)has been used to divide the river n...In order to analyze the condition of s pecial landform and regularity of sp ecial hydrological movement in karst area,the method of Geomorphologic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph(GIUH)has been used to divide the river net-works into three grades in the research area and the karst hydrologic processes were simulated with Nash insta ntaneous u-nit hydrograph(NIUH).The combination of the GIUH and NIUH fully considers the moving path of wa ter particles in drainage and the regional composition of runoff at the end of the drainage,resulting in a rational combinatio n of probabili-ty of GIUH and NIUH and geomorphologic parameters which could reflect the complexity of the landform structur e of karst drainage.The results showed t hat the combined method of GIUH and NI UH has clear physical concept and acc ept-able precision,which can be widely a pplied on hydrological studies of karst area.展开更多
The Anne Frank House, site of Anne Frank's place of hiding 1942-1944, has become a leading tourist attraction in Amsterdam and among heritage sites of the Holocaust. This paper reviews the historical context of the p...The Anne Frank House, site of Anne Frank's place of hiding 1942-1944, has become a leading tourist attraction in Amsterdam and among heritage sites of the Holocaust. This paper reviews the historical context of the political events from 1933 to 1945, the circumstances for the betrayal, and arrest of the group in hiding, the saving of Anne Frank's diary and its publication after her death at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in March 1945. Further, the paper reconstructs the beginnings of the heritage site as a small museum at 263 Prinsengracht in 1960 as well as the management issues and capacity problems that led to a larger museum complex including an educational center in 1999. During the years of 2007-2010, when the annual visitation of the museum surpassed one million, the Anne Frank House decided to introduce a high quality 3D version of the Secret Annex on the Intemet. In the final part of the paper, trends in museum management and the more frequent uses of a digital documentation of heritages sites are reviewed.展开更多
Anchor bolts are commonly used throughout underground mining and tunnelling operations to improve roof stability.However,premature failures of anchor bolts are significant safety risks in underground excavations aroun...Anchor bolts are commonly used throughout underground mining and tunnelling operations to improve roof stability.However,premature failures of anchor bolts are significant safety risks in underground excavations around the world due to susceptible bolt materials,a moist and corrosive environment and tensile stress.In this paper,laboratory experiments and hydrogeochemical models were combined to investigate anchor bolt corrosion and failure associated with aqueous environments in underground coal mines.Experimental data and collated mine water chemistry data were used to simulate bolt corrosion reactions with groundwater and rock materials with the PHREEQC code.A series of models quantified reactions involving iron and carbon under aerobic and anaerobic conditions in comparison with ion,pH and pE trends in experimental data.The models showed that corrosion processes are inhibited by some natural environmental factors,because dissolved oxygen would cause more iron from the bolts to oxidize into solution.These interdisciplinary insights into corrosion failure of underground anchor bolts confirm that environmental factors are important contributors to stress corrosion cracking.展开更多
The assembling error may lead to variation in stagger angles,which would affect the aerodynamic performance of the turbine.To investigate this underlying effect,two parallel numerical experiments on two turbines with ...The assembling error may lead to variation in stagger angles,which would affect the aerodynamic performance of the turbine.To investigate this underlying effect,two parallel numerical experiments on two turbines with the same profile,but uniform and nonuniform vane stagger angle respectively,were conducted in both steady and unsteady methods.The results indicate that certain changes in the detailed flow field of the turbine occur when the stagger angles are nonuniform,further,the blade loading distribution of the vane and rotor become markedly different from that in uniform vane stagger angle situation.Then these consequences caused by nonuniformity mentioned above enhance the unsteadiness of the flow,finally,the aerodynamic performance changes dramatically.It also shows that,compared with steady simulation,the unsteady numerical simulation is necessary in this investigation.展开更多
