This paper analyses the geometrical analogue rules of explosively formed projectile (EFP) penetrating armours with the help of similarity theory, and establishes EFP penetrating armour simulation law. Based on the simulation law established here, prototype experiments and model experiments with the simulation ratio of 1.33 are designed, and the penetrating armour experiments with 45 # carbon steel plates are separately conducted. By means of data processing of experimental results, it is concluded that EFP penetrating armour simulation law established is tenable. 展开更多

The hydrodynamic characteristics generated by the standard Rushton or 45°-upward pitched-blade-turbine (PBT) impellers in a baffled reactor are numerically simulated for different off-bottom clearances (C= 1/3H and 1/2H) and agitator speeds (100, 150, 200, 250 and 300r·min^-1) by using FLUENT code (Version 5.4). The results are compared with the experimental and simulated data in the published papers and good agreement is observed. The shapes of the profile of mean velocities seem independent to the speed of agitators under the experimental conditions (100-300r·min^-1). 展开更多

In order to improve the surface performace of epoxy asphalt pavement (EAP) for steel bridge deck, an epoxy asphalt chip seal ( ECS) covered by a cationic emulsified asphalt fog seal (i. e., fog-sealed chip seal) isproposed and a laboratory study is conducted to design and evaluate te fog-sealed chip seal. First, the evaluation indices and methods of te chip seal on steel bridge deck pavement were proposed. Secondly, the worst pavement conditions during te maintenance time were simulated by te small traffic load simulation system MMLS3 and the short-term aging test for minimizing the failure probability of chip seal. Finally, the design parameters of fog-sealed chip seal were determined by the experimental analysis and the performance of the designed fog-sealed chip seal was evaluated in thelaboratory. Results indicate that the proposed simulation method of pavement conditions is effective and the maximal load repetitions on the EAPslab specimen are approximately 925 300 times. Moreover, the designed fog-sealedchip sealcan provide a dense surface with sufficient skid resistance,aggregate-asphalt aahesive performance and interlayer shearing resistance. 展开更多

A workflow model of simulation modeling based on the virtual ship assembly process was also established; furthermore, a method of information transformation between the ship three-dimensional design and ship construction plan was formulated. To meet the requirements of information sharing between different systems in the ship virtual assembly, a simulation database was created by using the software engineering design method and the relational data model. With the application of this database, the information of ship three-dimensional design, construction planning, and virtual assembly can be integrated into one system. Subsequently, this new method was applied as a tool to simulate the virtual assembly of a ship, and the results guarantee its rationality and reliability. 展开更多

To be attached at the desired place, the aligned and attracted CNTs should be stayed in the desired area called the stable region or the quasi-stable region for an instant where the change of electric field is minimized. Since the conical electrode has the very narrow sized quasi-stable region, few CNTs can be attached. The rectangular electrodes have a wide stable region, so lots of CNTs can be attached. The results indicate that the round electrode which has a proper sized quasi-stable region is more effective for aligning and attaching a single CNT than the conical or rectangular shaped electrodes. 展开更多

An active balancing technology has been applied to solve the severe vibration caused by sudden unbalance in rotating machineries during their working process. First, based on the generation principle of sudden unbalance, a simulation test stand with a sudden unbalance generation device was set up. Then, the balancing planes were optimized by using the finite element method (FEM) to determine the position for balancing device installation. Finally, the active balancing experiments were carried out on the test stand. The experimental results indicate that the vibration response caused by sudden unbalance can be decreased from 77μm to 8μm by using the active balancing device, and the vibration amplitude reduction was up to 89.6%. From this example, it can be concluded that the active balancing device, which is installed on a proper position of the rotor, can effectively control the random transient synchronous vibration, demonstrating its high value in engineering practice. 展开更多

In this paper,various aspects of the 2D and 3D nonlinear liquid sloshing problems in vertically excited containers have been studied numerically along with the help of a modified-transformation.Based on this new numerical algorithm,a numerical study on a regularly and randomly excited container in vertical direction was conducted utilizing four different cases: The first case was performed utilizing a 2D container with regular excitations.The next case examined a regularly excited 3D container with two different initial conditions for the liquid free surface,and finally,3D container with random excitation in the vertical direction.A grid independence study was performed along with a series of validation tests.An iteration error estimation method was used to stop the iterative solver(used for solving the discretized governing equations in the computational domain) upon reaching steady state of results at each time step.In the present case,this method was found to produce quite accurate results and to be more time efficient as compared to other conventional stopping procedures for iterative solvers.The results were validated with benchmark results.The wave elevation time history,phase plane diagram and surface plots represent the wave nonlinearity during its motion. 展开更多

The PRNS procedure uses temporal filtering to define large-scale turbulence, and the model developed to account for unresolved scales is grid independent. No problem about inner commutation error and inconsistencies will arise from the PRNS, while such issues are of concern in traditional Large Eddy Simulation (LES) methods. A first order system model is proposed for simulating the influence of stress stimulation on fracture strength during fracture healing. To validate the model, the diaphyses of bilateral tibiae in 70 New Zealand rabbits were osteotomized and fixed with rigid plates and stress-relaxation plates, respectively. Stress shielding rate and ultimate bending strength of the healing bone were measured at 2 to 48 weeks postoperatively. Ratios of stress stimulation and fracture strength of the healing bone to those of intact bone were taken as the system input and output. The assumed first order system model can approximate the experimental data on fracture strength from the input of stress stimulation over time, both for the rigid plate group and the stress-relaxation plate group, with different system parameters of time constant and gain. The fitting curve indicates that the effect of mechanical stimulus occurs mainly in late stages of healing. First order system can model the stress adaptation process of fracture healing. This approach presents a simple bio-mathematical model of the relationship between stress stimulation and fracture strength, and has the potential to optimize planning of functional exercises and conduct parametric studies. 展开更多

A new 18-lump kinetic model for naphtha catalytic reforming reactions is discussed. By developing this model as a user module, a whole industrial continuous catalytic reforming process is simulated on Aspen plus plat-form. The technique utilizes the strong databases, complete sets of modules, and flexible simulation tools of the Aspen plus system and retains the characteristics of the proposed kinetic model. The calculated results are in fair agreement with the actual operating data. Based on the model of the whole reforming process, the process is opti-mized and the optimization results are tested in the actual industrial unit for about two months. The test shows that the process profit increases about 1000yuan·h-1 averagely, which is close to the calculated result. 展开更多

Delayed coking is an important process in refinery to convert heavy residue oils from crude distillation units (CDUs) and fluid catalytic cracking units (FCCUs) into dry gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline, die- sel, gas oils and cokes. The main fractionator, separating superheating reaction vapors from the coke drums into lighter oil products, involves a de-superheating section and a rectifying section, and couldn't be simulated as a whole column directly because of non-eouilibrium in the de-suoerheatine section. It is verv imoortant to correctlv simulate the main fractionator for operational parameter and energy-use optimization of delayed cokers. This paper discusses the principle of de-superheating processes, and then proposes a new simulation strategy. Some key issues such as composition prediction of the reaction vapors, selection of thermodynamic methods, estimation of tray efficiency, etc. are discussed. The proposed simulation approach is applied to two industrial delayed cokers with typical technological processes in a Chinese refinery by using PRO/II. The simulation results obtained are well consistent with the actual operation data, which indicates that the presented approach is suitable to simulate the main fraction- ators of delayed cokers or other distillation columns consisting of de-superheating sections and rectifying sections. 展开更多

The procedure structure of evaluation was introduced. We did 18 experiments on situ and compared experiments results with evaluation ones. They are correspondent very well. Then a new method of evaluating underground space di- ameters caused by blasting with linear charges was given. This paper reports the reengineering of the assembly processes of printed circuit boards (PCBs) used in computers.The new designed assembly processes are quite different from the traditional ones,and the business performance is dramatically improved through establishing parallel workstations,off line workstation,merging workstations and organizing a small teamwork who cooperates in stations.“ITHINK”,a software package of business process reengineering (BPR),was used to analyze the current processes and create new processes.ITHINK is a powerful tool of BPR in modeling business processes,“soft” variables and conducting sensitivity analysis.The new assembly processes were tested over a period of 8 hours simulation.The results show that the new processes can increase throughput by 80% with only requiring less additional resources.The throughput can increase further by 17.5% when a small teamwork cooperates in some stations. 展开更多

As one of the main reasons causing leakage heat load in a refrigerator,mass and heat transfer through refrigerator door seal is of great importance to be studied.In this paper,a model is presented for numerical simulation of mass and heat transfer process through refrigerator door seal,and an experiment apparatus is designed and set up as well for comparison.A two-dimensional model and tracer gas method are used in simulation and experiment,respectively.It can be found that the relative deviations of air infiltration rate between the simulated results and experimental results were less than 1%,and the temperature difference errors at two special points of the door seal were less than 2.03℃.In conclusion,the simulated results are in good agreement with the experimental results.This paper initially sets up a model that can accurately simulate the heat and mass transfer through the refrigerator door seal,and the model can be used in refrigerator door seal optimization research in the follow-up study. 展开更多
