Methods Twentyeight cases of pediatric allergic rhinitis were treated by combining pediatric Tuine and oral administration of Yupingfeng powder (玉屏风散) combined with Guizhi decoction (桂枝汤). The clinical efficacy was observed after 6 treatments. Results The treatment of pediatric allergic rhinitis by combining Tuina and Chinese herbal medicines had an overall effectivness rate of 85.71%. Conclusion Combined treatment using pediatric Tuina and an herbal mixture of Yupingfeng powder (玉屏风散) and Guizhi decoction (桂枝汤) has positive therapeutic efficacy for treatment of pediatric allergic rhinitis, and should be considered as a treatment for this condition.展开更多

Methods: A total of 150 children withexogenous fever were randomly divided based on the random digital table into a control group (75 cases) and a treatment group (75 cases). The control group was treated with oral Xiao'er Chaigui Tuire Keli (<1 year old, 0.5 bag/time;1-3 years old, 1 bag/time;4-6 years old, 1.5 bags/time), 4 times/day. The treatment group was treated with pediatric tuina plus the intervention of the control group. The amount and usage of Chinese medicine were the same as those of the control group;tuina was conducted 1 time/day. The clinical effects and adverse reactions were observed after 3 d of treatment in both groups. The recurrence was observed within 7 d after the end of treatment. Results: The total effective rate was 92.0% in the treatment group and 81.3% in the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups after treatment. The recurrence rate was 1.5% in the treatment group and 13.1% in the control group. The difference in the recurrence rate between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Pediatric tuina plus Chinese medicine is effective in treating children with exogenous fever.展开更多

Methods: A total of 220 patients with post-stroke upper limb spasticity were randomly allocated into a treatment group (n=120) and a control group (n=110). Patients in the treatment group received tuina along the meridians combined with spasticity-alleviating and collateral-unblocking Chinese medicine, whereas patients in the control group received routine rehabilitation therapy. Patients in both groups were treated for 3 weeks. Then the patients' motor function, ADL and muscle tone were evaluated before and after treatment using the FugI-Meyer assessment scale (FMA), modified Barthel index (MBI) and modified Ashworth scale (MAS). Results: After treatment, the FMA scores, MBI scores, and muscle (shoulder intortor, elbow flexors and wrist flexors) tones were significantly improved (P〈0.05), but the improvement was more significant in the treatment group than that in the control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Tuina along the meridians combined with spasticity-alleviating and collateral-unblocking Chinese medicine can substantially alleviate muscle tone on the affected side and remarkably improve the patients' motor function and ADL.展开更多
