A concerned analytical landing gear model for simulating actual aircraft taxiing is formulated. The equivalent linearization results obtained by probabilistic method are inducted to treat landing gear non linear parameters such as shock absorber air spring force, hydraulic damping and Coulomb friction, tire stiffness and damping. The power spectral density for non stationary analysis is obtained via variable substitution and then Fourier transform. A representative response quantity, the overload of the aircraft gravity center, is analyzed. The frequency response function of the gravity overload is derived. The case study demonstrates that under the same reached velocity the root mean square of the gravity acceleration response from constant acceleration taxiing is smaller than that from constant velocity taxiing and the root mean square of the gravity acceleration response from lower acceleration taxiing is greater than that from higher acceleration.展开更多

Gene expression often involves a small number of reactant molecules and thus internal molecular fluctuation is considerable. Here we studied how an FFL responds to small external signal inputs at gene X, with particular attention paid to the fluctuation resonance (FR) phenomenon of gene Z. We found that for all coherent FFLs, where the sign of the direct regulation path from X to Z is the same as the overall sign of the indirect path via Y, the FR shows a regular single peak, while for incoherent FFLs, the FR exhibits distinct bimodal shapes. The results indicate that one could use small external signals to help identify the regulatory structure of an unknown FFL in complex gene networks.展开更多

The upstream larger cylinder was fixed and the downstream smaller cylinder was allowed to oscillate in the transverse direction only. Comparisons of the experimental and numerical results were made to investigate the effects of the gap ratio on the maximum vibration amplitude and vortex shedding frequency. The results showed that the vibration response of the smaller cylinder was significantly affected by the presence of the upstream larger cylinder, and resulted in greatly reduced vibration amplitudes. With an increasing gap ratio, the vibration amplitude increased. However, the magnitude was lower than that corresponding to a single cylinder (with the same diameter as that of the downstream smaller cylinder) under the same flow conditions.展开更多

Two specific examples have been considered: one is the example of bistable system, and the other is the example of metastable system. The explicit expressions of the mean-first passage time (MFPT) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for both specific examples are obtained, respectively. Based on the numerical computations, we compare the quantum case with its classical counterpart. Our research results show that: (i) the quantum effect accelerates the escape of the Brownian particle in comparison with the classical result and (ii) the quantum effect enhances the SR in the SNR as a function of β for a bistable system (i.e., β = 1/kBT, kB is the Boltzmann constant and T is the temperature), while for a metastable system, the β amplifies the quantum effects, and the quantum effect weakens the SNR as a function of β.展开更多
