The data information transfer and time marching strategies between computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) play crucial roles on the aeroelastic analysis in a time domain. An improved CFD/CSD coupled system is designed, including an interpolation method and an improved loosely coupled algorithm. The interpolation method based on boundary element method (BEM) is developed to transfer aerodynamic loads and structural displacements between CFD and CSD grid systems, it can be universally used in fluid structural interaction solution by keeping energy conservation. The improved loosely coupled algo-rithm is designed, thus it improves the computational accuracy and efficiency. The new interface is performed on the two-dimensional (2-D) extrapolation and the aeroelastie response of AGARD445.6 wing. Results show that the improved interface has a superior accuracy. 展开更多

Effective temperature level of stream, namely stream pseudo temperature, is determined by its actual temperature and heat transfer temperature difference contribution value. Heat transfer temperature difference con-tribution value of a stream depends on its heat transfer film coefficient, cost per unit heat transfer area, actual tem-perature, and so on. In the determination of the suitable heat transfer temperature difference contribution values of the stream, the total annual cost of multistream heat exchanger network (MSHEN) is regarded as an objective func-tion, and genetic/simulated annealing algorithm (GA/SA) is adopted for optimizing the heat transfer temperature difference contribution values of the stream. The stream pseudo temperatures are subsequently obtained. On the ba-sis of stream pseudo temperature, optimized MSHEN can be attained by the temperature-enthalpy (T-H) diagram method. This approach is characterized with fewer decision variables and higher feasibility of solutions. The calcu-lation efficiency of GA/SA can be remarkably enhanced by this approach and more probability is shown in search-ing the global optimum solution. Hence this approach is presented for solving industrial-sized MSHEN which is difficult to deal by traditional algorithm. Moreover, in the optimization of stream heat transfer temperature differ-ence contribution values, the effects of the stream temperature, the heat transfer film coefficient, and the construc-tion material of heat exchangers are considered, therefore this approach can be used to optimize and design heat exchanger network (HEN) with unequal heat transfer film coefficients and different of construction materials. The performance of the proposed approach has been demonstrated with three examples and the obtained solutions are compared with those available in literatures. The results show that the large-scale MSHEN synthesis problems can be solved to obtain good solutions with the modest computational effort. 展开更多

The improved current-doubler-rectifier zero-voltage-switching PWM full-bridge converter (CDR ZVS PWM FB converter) achieves ZVS for the switches in a wide load range with the use of the energy stored in the output filter inductances, and the rectifier diodes commute naturally, therefore no oscillation and voltage spike occurs. The transformer needs no special manufacture method to limit the leakage inductance. The ZVS achievement and the design considerations for the output filter inductances and the blocking capacitor are discussed for the improved CDR ZVS PWM FB converter. A 540 W prototype converter is built in the lab to verify the operational principle and design considerations for the improved converter, the experimental results are also included. 展开更多

The heat transfer coefficient in a multidimensional heat conduction problem is obtained from the solution of the inverse heat conduction problem based on the thermographic temperature measurement. The modified one-dimensional correction method (MODCM), along with the finite volume method, is employed for both two- and three-dimensional inverse problems. A series of numerical experiments are conducted in order to verify the effectiveness of the method. In addition, the effect of the temperature measurement error, the ending criterion of the iteration, etc. on the result of the inverse problem is investigated. It is proved that the method is a simple, stable and accurate one that can solve successfully the inverse heat conduction problem. 展开更多

The wavelet transform (WT) method has been employed to decompose an original geophysical signal into a series of components containing different information about reservoir features such as pore fluids, lithology, and pore structure. We have developed a new method based on WT energy spectra analysis, by which the signal component reflecting the reservoir fluid property is extracted. We have successfully processed real log data from an oil field in central China using this method. The results of the reservoir fluid identification agree with the results of well tests. 展开更多

Aiming at the significance of the energy controls of wireless sensor networks, an economical energy consumption algorithm for wireless communicating in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is presented. Based on the algorithm, the maximal system throughput of WSN is analyzed, and the upper bound of throughput of WSN is proposed and proved. Some numerical simulations are conducted and analyzed. The conclusions include that the transmitting radius of sensor node and the parameters of the energy cost function have significant influence upon the throughput, but the monitoring region radius has little influence. For the same transmitting distance, the more the hopping of information trans- mitting, the better the throughput of WSN. On the other hand, for the energy optimization of the whole WSN, the trade-off problem between the throughput capacity and the relay nodes is proposed, and the specific expression of relay hops that minimized the energy consumptions and the maximal throughput of WSN under the specific situation is derived. 展开更多

The use of design method considering a coil temperature to maximize the thrust density of a double side coreless permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) was presented.The optimal current density where the coil temperature reaches an allowable temperature with heat analysis was applied to a magnetic circuit design.Changing optimal current density is verified whenever the design parameters of the motor are altered.The design parameters of the motor were applied to thrust calculation.In this way,the optimal model,which is a reversal of the existing design method,is deduced.The results were compared with the experimental data to verify their validity.When the convection heat transfer coefficient is applied to other models,the results of the analysis and test values show good concordance.The method proposed has some limitations. 展开更多

P2P streaming application must realize network address translation (NAT) traversal. To handle low success ratio of the existing NAT traversal algorithm, UPnP-STUN (UPUN) and port-mapping sample estimation (PMSE) algorithm are recommended in this paper. UPUN is the combination of UPnP and STUN, and PMSE utilizes port mapping samples added by symmetric NAT for different sessions to estimate regularity of port mapping of symmetric NAT, which takes advantage of the Bernoulli law of large numbers. Besides, for the situation that both peers are behind NAT, and to handle heavy relay server load when many inner peers want to communicate with each other, a peer auxiliary-relay (PAR) algorithm is presented. PAR lets outer peers with sufficient bandwidth act as relay servers to alleviate pressure of real server, which could avoid NAT traversal failure caused by single point failure of relay server. Finally, experiments show that the proposed algorithms could improve the success ratio significantly for NAT traversal in P2P streaming application as well as improve P2P streaming application applicability. 展开更多

Due to their efficient absorption of light, short distances for minority carriers to travel, high surface-to-volume ratios, and the availability of scalable synthesis methods, they provide a pathway to address the low cost-to-power requirements for widescale adaptation of solar energy conversion technologies. Here we highlight recent progress in our group towards implementation of NW components as photovoltaic and photoelectrochemical energy conversion devices. An emphasis is placed on the unique properties of these one-dimensional (1D) structures, which enable the use of abundant, low-cost materials and improved energy conversion efficiency compared to bulk devices. 展开更多

The constructal optimizations of T-shaped fin with two-dimensional heat transfer model are carried out by finite element method and taking the minimization of equivalent thermal resistance based on entransy dissipation and the minimization of maximum thermal resistance as optimization objectives, respectively. The effects of the global parameter a (integrating the coefficient of convective heat transfer, the overall area occupied by fin and its thermal conductivity) and the volume fraction ? of fin on the minimums of equivalent thermal resistance and maximum thermal resistance as well as their corresponding optimal configurations are analyzed. The comparison of the results based on the above two optimization objectives is conducted. The results show that the optimal structures based on the two optimization objectives are obviously different from each other. Compared with the optimization result by taking the minimization of maximum thermal resistance as the objective, the optimization result by taking the equivalent thermal resistance minimization as the objective can reduce the average temperature difference in the fin obviously. The increases of a and ? can all improve the working status of local hot spot and the global heat transfer performance of the system. But the improvement effects of the increases of a and ? on the minimization of equivalent thermal resistance are different from those on the minimization of maximum thermal resistance. For either objective, the effect of a is different from that of ?. The T-shaped fin with minimum equivalent thermal resistance is much taller than that with minimum maximum thermal resistance; for either optimization objective, the stem of fin is thicker than the branches of fin, and the stem thickness is relatively close to branch thickness when the minimization of equivalent thermal resistance is taken as the optimization objective. The T-shaped fin with flat stem and slender branches can benefit the reduction of the maximum thermal resistance. 展开更多

The convective heat transfer coefficient and surface emissivity before and after flame occurrence on a wood specimen surface and the flame heat flux were estimated using the repulsive particle swarm optimization algorithm and cone heater test results. The cone heater specified in the ISO 5660 standards was used, and six cone heater heat fluxes were tested. Preservative-treated Douglas fir 21 mm in thickness was used as the wood specimen in the tests. This study confirmed that the surface temperature of the specimen, which was calculated using the convective heat transfer coefficient, surface emissivity and flame heat flux on the wood specimen by a repulsive particle swarm optimization algorithm, was consistent with the measured temperature. Considering the measurement errors in the surface temperature of the specimen, the applicability of the optimization method considered in this study was evaluated. 展开更多

The natural convective heat transfer performance and thermo-fluidic characteristics of honeycombs with/without chimney extensions are numerically investigated.The present numerical simulations are validated by the purposely-designed experimental measurements on honeycombs with/without chimney.Good agreement between numerical simulation and experimental measurement is obtained.The influences of inclination angle and geometric parameters such as cell shape,streamwise and spanwise length are also numerically quantified.With the increment in inclination angle,the overall heat transfer rate decreases for the honeycombs with/without chimney.For honeycombs with the same void volume fraction but different cell shapes,there is little difference on the overall heat transfer rate.To enhance the natural convective heat transfer of honeycombs,these techniques including increasing the length of honeycomb in the streamwise/spanwise direction,increasing the thermal conductivity of hon-eycomb structure or adding a chimney extension may be helpful. 展开更多

After Bénard's experiment in 1900, Rayleigh formulated heat convection problems by the Oberbeck-Boussinesq approximation in the horizontal strip domain in 1916. The pattern formations have been investigated by the bifurcation theory, weakly nonlinear theories and computational approaches. The boundary conditions for the velocity on the upper and lower boundaries are usually assumed as stress-free or no-slip. In the first part of this paper, some bifurcation pictures for the case of the stress-free on the upper boundary and the no-slip on the lower boundary are obtained. In the second part of this paper, the bifurcation pictures for the case of the stress-free on both boundaries by a computer assisted proof are verified. At last., Bénard-Marangoni heat convections for the ease of the free surface of the upper boundary are considered. 展开更多

With the wide application of ionic liquids(ILs)in various fields,developing efficient techniques to recover ILs from effluent is an urgent demand for the cost reduction and the environmental protection.In this study,an electrodialysis(ED)method was used to recover 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride([Bmim]Cl)IL from aqueous solution as model effluent.The influences of initial IL concentration and applied voltage on the current efficiency,removal ratio,desalination ratio,membrane flux and specific energy consumption during the ED process were investigated.It was found that the removal ratio and desalination ratio increases with the increasing of initial IL concentration and applied voltage.The current efficiency decreases with the increasing of initial IL concentration and the current efficiency reached the maximum value of 94.3%at 25 V.Besides,as the applied voltage increases,the membrane flux increases and the specific energy consumption decreases.Moreover,the fouling of cation-exchange membrane was also discovered after the desalination of IL.The deposits on the surface or into the membrane which is probably caused by[Bmim]+was characterized by scanning electron microscopy,elemental analysis and Fourier transform infrared. 展开更多
